Former Eastleigh winger Luke Coulson has signed for Ebbsfleet from Barnet. GOING FOR IT

Completely tore us a new one (more than once!) While at Oxford City. Pretty pleased with the signing, although it means we now have five wide midfielders, all of whom can also play at wing back. Can see Sean Shields going out on loan early doors unless we have a massive injury list.

Is that the same Luke Coulson that was going to Birmingham for £1m in January and then ended up at, er, Barnet?

Yep!

Only played 15 games for Barnet last season according to our website. Not sure what's happened to him, he was class at Oxford City and Eastleigh!

He was useless here. Unable to beat a man, always turned back and passes were wayward. Seemed to have a serious lack of confidence.

I believe the conference is his level currently.

He really was a massive flop here. Came here billed as one of the best wingers in the NL but looked shot of any confidence and made less of an impact than the young players we more often than not brought on to replace him.

His brother posted on our forum and clearly both siblings were excited about the move to the FL, but even he admitted they were both disappointed with how things went last year after joining us.

Really pleased we managed to get a fee for him - presumably based on his past reputation. I don't know what went wrong for him here, but we did and still lack real quality out wide (with the exception of maybe Campbell-Ryce), the fact Coulson couldn't make an impact despite that says a lot. Wish him all the best, right move for both parties I think.

From what I saw it was more that he didn't fit your system than anything else. Imo.
How so? I was under the impression that he was most effective playing on the left and cutting in on his stronger foot. We played him on both wings during his time here but he never seemed to have the confidence to run at players. Nana Kyei looked more effective as an inverted winger than he did and he's played fewer games in his career than Coulson did last season.

Disappointed not to see Coulson get a chance this year as I think there is a player in there. Never got a proper run in the team and the managerial genius that was Nugent didn't help.

I think there is a player in there based on his time at Eastleigh. We probably either sold him because Ebbsfleet offered us close to what we paid for him and we felt it wasn't worth taking the gamble in him getting better, or he had a poor start to pre-season and we just wanted to get him off the wage bill and accepted the first offer that came in. Without knowing the transfer fee we won't know.

That's a few times less than what we paid for him (at least £40k I think)

Must have been a poor start to pre-season for him - if he had showed anything I don't think he'd have gone for so little.

Coulsen thought he was a superstar the minute Jamie Vardy showed an interest in him for his massive hit Sky TV show that seems to have flopped (havent heard anymore about it?)......From that day onward, JC stopped performing at Eastleigh and we were well rid IMO. I think we were told that Barnet paid 50k, we had paid 20k for him. Its not surprising he didnt work out at Barnet, as he would have thought he was above that too. He had been muting that he was off to Birmingham for £1m when with us, but of course nothing came off that. So he's back in NL, probably where he belongs and will stay.

I believe he was offered to us so you guys could avoid paying cash for N'Gala, Togwell and Muggleton. The gross fee was around £40-50k I believe.

Signed Lucas Dawson tonight, spent the end of last season here and has looked good, not the finished article but a promising one. Liam Davies has extended his six month deal until the end of the season as well.

Evan Horwood has left us after accepting a six month deal (due to injury concerns) but has now been offered a longer deal by a Conference North club I believe.

Although it's hard to tell the wind-up posts from the real deal on Twitter, there seems to be a lot of praise from Notts County fans - some saying releasing him was the worst bit of business in the transfer window. Not sure where he fits into our back four or five.
probably next to Diarra with Gomis playing just in front of them...

Audel should be good at this level. In fact, I'd say he's probably too good for this level, but hit and miss as a L2 defender (did better at County than Crewe).

We had him on loan from Crewe 3 years ago (seems much longer ago than that!) and had we been in better financial shape when his loan ended, we'd have gone in for him but he went to Notts County. Decent in the air, reads the game well and had a turn of pace. Not blistering, but just about enough to get himself out of trouble if he needed to and cover other people.

Was prone to the odd silly moment, but they were few and far between. In both his spells here, he started off shaky for the first 2 or 3 games and improved.

A good, solid signing.

I hope you're right about Dawson. He's very busy, but also good at giving the ball to the opposition. I'll be watching him closely this season. He'll only be a bench player, but with such a small squad can see him getting plenty of time on the pitch.

We paid you £60k for N'Gala, then chucked him out with a massive pay off 6 weeks later - The worst fucking Transfer in the history of our club and maybe in NL football altogether. We were led to believe that Martin Allen had fallen out with him at Barnet. So what do we do, we bring him in and make MA the manager, who kicks him straight out again! You couldn't make it up! Then 6 weeks after that we kick MA out aswell with another £150k pay off. What an expensive 2 months that was! I bet MA was laughing his cock off.
