We've paid a fee

For Macauley Bonne from Colchester.

I hope he does well, I think given a settled run in a side playing centrally he'll start to score a few goals. Has always showed promise but never really fulfilled it yet, and a lack of opportunities suggests a succession of managers have never quite felt he was up to it. He's a natural finisher though and has scored so many goals at every other level until the senior team though that I think he will develop into a good striker given the chance to.

It'll be interesting to see if Askey can utilise Durrell. He's got ability but doesn't seem to have an obvious role. He's the sort of player you'd have tobuild a team around but I don't think he's quite good enough at this level to do that.

Mental. I'd have had him on a month to month to prove his fitness.
Why? Seemed to have played a lot of games last season?

Yeah he's a bit portly but there's a difference between just carrying a bit of timber and being unfit.

Bonne is a good signing for Orient. He will always be fondly remembered by Lincoln fans for scoring the winner in our 1-0 win against the team with the best players in the league last season, Tranmere Rovers.

When Bonne came here, he looked like a striker who'd been played out of position for ages and had actually forgotten how to play his proper position.

Turned out a bit of a 'meh' signing for us, bar the above goal. I couldn't really make my mind up whether there was something there or not because despite apparently scoring lots of goal in the U21's or wherever he played, he didn't look a goal threat here.

We've now signed George Elokobi on a 2 year deal.

I'm surprisingly happy with that.

dedwardp whilst we're becoming Colchester two, are Eastman, Lapslie or Guthrie available? :3

We've now signed George Elokobi on a 2 year deal.

That should be a really good signing. I wasn't disappointed to see him go really as I think with everyone fit he was probably fourth or fifth choice centre half for us, but he was very good in the second half of last season when everyone was out injured.

Still very commanding and seemingly as fit as ever, the only problem with Elokobi is that you do tend to have at least one cock up every game so it just depends if it's a costly one.

I would have kept him, but only for one year which I imagine was one of the stumbling blocks so fair enough if he's got a two year deal with Orient.

Yet still started 42 league games last season, can't be that unfit.
Can drift out of games, but his fitness wasn’t really much of a concern. Sort of player who will provide you with goal or moment of the season rather than player of the season but he’s a likeable lad.

I was surprised he was released as he’d certainly done enough to earn a new deal however I think the reasoning behind his release is the hopes behind young academy graduate Matty Waters, who is expected to make a mark this season breaking in to the first team.

I liked Bonne when he was with us last season. Always looked lively and a threat. Good signing for Orient.

It's difficult for a team to keep it's shape with Durrell in it. He just seems to go where the fancy takes him. Probably good for 10 goals though.

Is he an attacking midfielder or a striker?
Danny Rowe had been given something of a free role for us, but starting from a left wing position. I'd expect Durrell to fill that gap.

I actually expected him to be thick as pig shit but come across as a really decent lad in his interview. Not FGR Top Lad status, but nice enough.

I think you could well be right. He looked good earlier anyway!

One of our trialists today, Tyrone Marsh has now signed for us

Weird that he barely featured earlier. His career has been a mixed bag, at some places he's got good goals to games ratios and then at others he hasn't scored. Hopefully Askey gets the best out of him!

Edit - where did you see this signing, I can't see it anywhere?

It was on the website, looks like it's now been taken down. Strange

Surprised he has got a club in the Conference National. We had him for around 10 games at the end of last season after he was released by Kilmarnock. Looked lazy and completely disinterested and was very disappointing to say he had played in the SPL just a few weeks prior.
He's been very bright with us, perhaps he's got his head around the changes in his career now and looking to kick on again.

Your probably right and to be fair he had joined a team where the morale was at the lowest ebb, who had no training at all and where shipping goals left right and centre!

Beast Mode: Activated.

We'll need to bring in Fatinfenwa now to balance the pitch out.
You'll have no worries about that when Tranmere come to town.

Although actually lost weight from his Luton days though: :eyes:

We've signed forward James Caton, formerly of Southport and Dover, after a successful trial. Any opinions on him Dover or Southport fans?
