We've made an interesting signing. Ex Leeds, Swansea and Tranmere player Andy Robinson who only recently retired.

If he can get fit, hes got all the skills to rip that division apart. Very much doubt he will though, likes a night out does Robinson.

It's the first signing he has made that has disaster written all over it. I do hope it is a pay as you play kind of deal.

What position was he playing in towards the end of his spell with Tranmere?

When he was at his best he was playing left wing, but he had Bakayago at left back to do most of his running. Would probably only be able to play as an attacking mid now who doesnt have to do much moving about.

This signing could go either way. As someone on the YB put it, potential to be a Crainey 2.0. I trust Young but I get the feeling this is a cheeky paycheck from Robinson, though I'd hope Young has sense and has given him a 'pay as you play' deal.

Still hoping for a Sean Miller announcement soon, but seems less and less likely.

Glad mill's duff signings have gone. Dissappointed about barlett, decent keeper and also pity john oster is retireing. Just gotta see who we sign now. Not sure who we in run in for. That jaret rivers from blyth seems like good player

Rivers signed for Blackpool a while ago.

Can't agree a fee I guess?

Just a hunch but I feel a nominal fee has been arranged along with the friendly, just wages for the player, though I think we will sign him. Doesn't help we get stuck in this catch 22 that we are a big draw for a lot of these players but then they demand more. It's a bit of an absurdity to expect players to want a normal wage they could get from an average [non 'bankrolled'] Conf North club when we're one of the biggest club in the Conference itself, nevermind the North. From a player's perspective I can rightly see why they expect it; if United were to bid for Ashley Williams he would expect to have his wage increased rather than 'we can offer you the same for Swansea but it's okay because we're a massive club so you should come here anyway.

I get the feeling that is how agents/players at this level see us, and unfortunately we're not in a position to have our 'deserved' budget based on our size/attendance to match that. It's a weird one because there valid counters 'surely you would rather play for Stockport for the same wage rather than Guiseley'. The logic works fine for a pro footballer, or the more younger part-timers who are ambitious. But a lot of these players, even the top ones, are more concerned about stability, travelling arrangements and other considerations which to the average ex-football league club fan (even Conference Premier) sound absolute baffling.

It goes without saying there is a significant gulf between the Conf Premier and the Conference North, not just in the level of football, but the entire attitude and philosophy of both club and players. The sooner we get out of it the better.

Even at the end of his stint here when he couldnt run he still looked a cut above with the ball at his feet and was one of the few that could unlock defences, he is well worth a gamble if you use him right.

The wages you pay him will be recouped tenfold in the club bar so its a risk free gamble

At Goodison's testimonial he looked massive! Scored an unbelievable goal from the halfway line though, just don't expect him to do any running.

Robbo still has the technical ability to be a really good player. However, his fitness and off field issues will always undermine that. IF he gets fit (and he needs to lose a bit, being kind) and stays injury free, he could be a very astute signing for Stockport. If he does what he did for his last 12 months here and down at Shrewsbury, he'll just be a waste of a wage. I hope to goodness it's pay as you play, because I would put it at 20/80 against this being a good move for Stockport.

We've signed Curtis Haynes-Brown from Lowestoft. LB/CB according to our website, played for Cambridge during 2012-13.

The Lowestoft fans seem quite impressed by him, any Cambridge fans have an opinion on him??
Many were surprised or disappointed that he didn't get a contract after his end of season efforts. He seems an OK left back but we may not have offered the 2 years contract he got at Lowestoft.

Ah ok, sounds quite good! Normally when we sign people, we're told how useless they have been at all their past clubs!

There's murmurings up this way that he doesn't fancy the travelling, not sure how true or not it is.

Aspin said in the interview when he signed that he was worried about it but had a car share sorted.

But I'd like to think after signing on the line that he'd stick to it and if not hope we take him to the cleaners.

Like two used car salesmen that have just shifted the Lambougini with the shot engine and the rotting undercarriage, Aspin and Lee Nogan were spotted giving each other high fives this afternoon at The Shay. Now we know why. :bdick::brill:

Who have Wrexham signed so far? Bar Newton, I'm not convinced by Mills' dealings so far although keeping hold of Jennings, Moult and Smith were obviously good moves.

Mills has signed Fyfield, Moke and now Smith, none of whom were regulars under him at York. Fyfield is poor. Moke is hit and miss. Smith is kick and run. Sorry Wrexham fans but these 3 are very moderate signings.
