We're pleased to announce that full-back Bradley Wood has today signed for the #Imps from Alfreton Town.

Conformed then. Not gonna begrudge him his move. Fully deserved. He is better than Conf North. Fact

We're the most mid-table club that has ever existed in this division. A fee for Bradley Wood, really....

Disappointed about Magnay, was excellent last season, but as he said location is a big factor and can't begrudge him a move to the FL. While he will be a loss, RB is not the most important position in the side and the fact we have already kept Pearson and Gowling and most of the others has meant the loss is not as big as it could have been.

Miller would be a good replacement though, if indeed he is a RB

All Mansfield, Grimsby, Lincoln and York seemingly do is swap players around between themselves.

We have a similar arrangement with Newport County.

Do we?

As far as I know only 2 of our 23 man squad have ever played for Newport.

I'd say Salisbury have been our biggest source for players in recent years, the likes of Bittner, Bartlett, Bulman, Turk, Gray, Herring, Turley, Frear, Sinclair, Kamdjo plus a few others all came to us from there.

None of our current squad were signed from any of them, though 2 have played for Mansfield, 2 for York and 1 for Lincoln in the past.

Not sure he is an average and kind of a plodding uninspiring type signing, especially as he actually cost us a fee. Think he sounds like a decent acquisition so should be solid enough for us. One of the better signings so far IMO.

Agreed, Wood is definitely an improvement, it was a more general comment as a whole.

Cheers for the Miller response, GG. Just trying to ascertain if he is an Obeng/Thomas/Bore/Newton (going off his assist record more than anything here?) surging forward full back, or a Magnay/Robertson keep it tight kind of guy. Perhaps, he's somewhere in between? Sounds like if Toto goes elsewhere, he'd be a decent signing. If Toto stays though, obviously Miller's versatility is still a bonus, but his CB capabilities would be less of a draw and he'd be signed almost solely as a RB. All this is of course based on hearsay.

He's definitely not shite, but he's not amazing. He is very likeable, though. Stop signing players that we like.

Haha, it's kind of true. Except Lincoln is definitely the end of the line. Maybe they're gonna use Miller to put an end to this.

Of course, Wrexham/Chester is so bubbly massive that you can't do this for fear of getting arrested for treason. Wrexham seem to be heading more down the manager specific man to man Wilkin/Mills approach than the North Yorks/Lincolnshire/Derbyshire zonal method. You can throw Alfreton into the mix too now though, with Hearn having been at 4/5 and Wood 3/5 now.

What's Michael Coulson's contract situation like? A move to Mansfield might be on the cards...

Adam Lockwood has left us today and signed for Guiseley. Rumour has it we offered him a pay as he plays deal and he turned it down which you can't blame him for. Cracking signing though for Guiseley as I'm sure they already know.

I make it three of the current squad, Pipe, Jones and Clough, have also turned out for Newport. Just scratching my head and trying to think of players who have come to us from Newport, I could only come up with: Lee Fowler (not sure about his brother Mike), Chris Todd, Jamie Collins, Charlie Griffin, Kaid Mohammed and Curtis McDonald in recent times. Going in the other direction I came up with Damon Searle, Yan Klukowski, Julian Alsop and Jake Thomson. There are quite a few who have played for both teams over the years, but they don't really qualify do they, Ben Wright and probably Wayne Turk, pretty sure there are a few more. I take your point about Salisbury, looks like Welling might be taking over from them!

You're right, Clough played 2 games on loan at Newport in 2010.

Griffin joined us from Stevenage, albeit he had a spell on loan at Newport whilst there. Mohamed came to us from Swindon, Collins from Aldershot and Mike Fowler joined us from Salisbury. They did all play for Newport, so I take your point, and there are a lot of players who've played for both down the years.

Expect one or two more with Welling connections to show up.

Happy to sign Wood, but worries me that this means Miller is off. Really hope he doesn't sign for Grimsby!

I don't think Miller will be going to Grimsby. He'll be holding out for a L2 club.

Glad we got some :£for him. Although judging by our recent business it will be bloody peanuts again!
Aye, I'm hoping he's as value for money as Tomlinson!

Miller's a weird one because he's actually a CB but we stuck him at RB for a few games and I think he and we realised he's actually better there than everyone thought he'd be (perhaps better than CB). He looked a bit unsure at first but after 10 games or so it was like he'd been playing there for years.

He gets forward as much as Newton did, just not got as good a end product. He'll not get anywhere near as many assists as Newton, who also took set pieces. He's probably more defensive minded and certainly better at defending.

The only slight concern when we signed him 3(?) years ago was his injury record but he had a clean bill of health up until November time last year and then the rest of the season was stop-start with groin problems.
