Halifax have taken David Mellor on loan from Oldham for the rest of the season. Was pretty impressive in his time with us. Very direct and has a good final delivery. Just a bit on the lazy side

Where abouts did he play for you? We've been hearing he plays at left back, centre half or in the centre of midfield.

Bedfordshire non-league clubs making the news this evening. First Keshi Anderson's move from Barton Rovers to Crystal Palace and I've just seen on Twitter that Biggleswade United have managed to convince former Chelsea midfielder Enrique de Lucas to come out of retirement and sign for them.

Great signing. Watched him a lot while he was at Chelsea...seem to remember him scoring a few long rangers....One in the FA Youth Cup final.

Hang on a minute, he can only play at Step 3 or below for the rest of the season can't he?

Or, was that only if he was a free agent outside of the transfer window?

I think it's a bit shit of Woking to be online and announcing this at the crack of dawn, considering that as far as Grimsby fans are concerned he's still under contract here.

Yeah, only if he was released outside the transfer window.

Worried for next season?

How many are out of contract in the summer?

I have a feeling it may be everyone bar Reid and Styche. I may have missed a couple. Some of the young players who are cheaper will get new deals, I suspect our more expensive renewals will be Gowling, Nicholson and Byrne. I also have a feeling that at the end of next season, we may switch to part time so next year will be about preparing for that. May be a very different team next season!

I think it's more Grimsbys fault for not keeping their fans up to date with what is going on with him.

Welcome to Grimsby full stop, they wonder why fans speculate about players etc yet we're so often told sod all. So much so that the Fishy decided to diagnose Aswad Thomas with depression!

Maybe Jared Hodgkiss as well

Yeah, that's a fair point. They've announced that he has been released now. Announced it after the deadline though, so it's been a bit confusing. It doesn't say whether he was released inside or outside the deadline.

Regardless, I can't believe we've allowed him to kick his toys out the pram and orchestrate a move to a promotion rival. Couldn't we have worked out a loan deal somehow? Could have at least rendered him ineligible to play against us.

We've signed Sam Finley on loan from TNS, good player from what I've seen. Won Welsh Premier Young Player of the Year last season.

Arsed about Aswad. Decent player but you won't get anywhere near to half a season of good form out of him. He's a bit of a clown off the pitch as well. Happy to have him replaced.

Welcome back Aswad. I remember saying, not sure if it was on here or on TFF, that I'd happily have him back when I heard he was unsettled at Grimsby. As long as they haven't completely ruined him from being the best full-back in the league when we had him that'd be nice.

I'm only messing. Think it was Sparrow who said he was definitely going to join us. May have been on the old TFF. Somebody did anyway.

Hmmm, not sure it was me or at least I didn't say he was definitely joining you. I remember you saying that you didn't need a LB too! This signing just goes to show at what a good time the Theo Lewis sale came at. No chance that would we have Aswad now without that money.

But why would Gary Hill want to sign him, he is part of the worst Grimsby side ever, remember?!
;) ;)
He didn't play in that game though.

Can't say I'm overly fussed about him leaving, especially as it seems we've already replaced him with a more experienced left-back.

On his day he can be a very good player but a lot of the time he just seems to have a "can't be arsed" attitude.

Heard any rumours on the figure for Lewis? Only heard one and that was 25k. Interesting if true, although I don't believe it was that much. Could be true though, I guess we will never know!

As it happened, we did end up needing a left back! Joe Howe dislocated his shoulder away at Braintree. Got Jefford on loan from Welling for a month though.
