Really really chuffed for the Mariners. Spent some happy hours in that salt of the earth, 'proper community' in the mid-90's. Being a footballing outpost means that they genuinely follow their hometown club and they've more than served their non-league sentence.

Every FL club should do 5 years in the Conference to really understand the meaning of being part of the official 92 - cos too many fans of clubs take it for granted.

Welcome back Grimsby. Genuine FL club who are back where they belong.....only down side is that I think that current side of yours will really struggle in League 2 - the standard has moved on and you need to recruit to compete.
So many fans said that we would struggle last season without significant investment, they were right we struggled to get in the top two! Had to settle for third

To be fair, I personally think that your side were a much better side than this Grimsby team.

However, they are a club easily capable of making quick strides. They've been out of the FL for 5 years, you were out for 1 - and it can be argued that your team shouldn't have been relegated in the first place.

Times move on pretty quickly in half a decade. Grimsby will need to acclimatise as many of us have after lengthy stays in beelzebub's division. I have little doubt that they'll 're-establish themselves afterwards and as a community club I'm delighted for them.

The only gripe I have, is that the away end at Blundell Parl is one of, if not the worst in the division in terms of view :animatedf:

Welcome back, great stuff.

Now we just need to swap Wrexham, Lincoln City, Tranmere Rovers and Torquay Utd for Fleetwood, Crawley, Stevenage and Morecambe and lock the door.

Does this mean we are officially a Football League team?

Congrats Grimsby, you must be delighted to be travelling to giants such as Crawley and Accrington again!

Welcome back to the Grimmers. Traditionally have a dreadful record at Adams Park, so long may that continue.

Good to finally be back. A couple of improvements in several positions should see us have midtable fine. Would like to maybe challenge for the playoffs but I'm just pleased to not have to read FGR drivel anymore. Thanks for the kind words guys!

You will do fine, the bottom 6 in the league are mid table conference at best

Morecambe could be in some real bother next season. The likes of Newport, yourselves could be in for a long season

I'm not even sure all their fans did in fairness...

I know a couple of Cheltenham fans did because it would be a local derby for next season. Frankly, if we never play them again it'll be too soon as far as I'm concerned. Their setup was a joke when we played there, and they couldn't even sell out our away end for the return game on a Saturday. I actually think that if we were to play Grimsby on a Saturday, and not a Friday evening on telly, that they'd bring just as many if not more than FGR.

Great to see the Mariners back in the league. Still remember them in the old Division One and a much needed away ground to tick off next season!

Hopefully we become a competent league club and avoid relegation so Wrexham and Tranmere can rejoin us in 2017!

Congrats to Grimsby. Like most Rovers fans I was rooting for them after last years final.

No reason why they shouldn't at least hold their own in League 1.

Yeah this guy:
Not at all. Expected you to get through. There'll be a bigger crowd, which is good. Also it will be all the more sweeter to go up beating you lot.

The venue where FOREST GREEN ROVERS will become a FOOTBALL LEAGUE CLUB in 6 days time.

Where's your belief? The players believe, We've proven we're head and shoulders above everyone else in this league, we've got a team full of top class players and there's now a real feel good factor round the place. We're not messing this one up.

Scott is a top bloke and he'll have the lads firing on all cylinders. We're gonna do this.

Frear and Clough wont be here if we somehow don't go up.

What's the problem with many Grimsby fans regarding your manager? I know from reading this forum over the last few seasons he's come for his fair share of stick, but there were several comments praising him on the Grimsby Telegraph actually being given negative ratings! Do people still feel he's not the man for the job because he's taken too long to get you up? Judging from his earlier successes at Ilkeston and Boston, he seems the kind of manager like Darrell Clarke who's worked his way up the pyramid, and could do well given a chance in the Football League.

Yes me. That's about the only way Crawley would avoid the crap thrown around at smaller clubs on here.;)

Oh, well done to Grimsby. Maybe we can sell you another Adeamo?

Could these Bristol Rovers fans be any more patronising?

Anyway, fair play Grimsby.

I think it's more of a mutual respect kind of thing.

Both fans said last season that ideally, we'd like us both to be promoted from the conference, with Barnet missing out. We took decent numbers up their place and sung all game, and they brought good numbers down ours too, which is always nice to see in the conference. The fact that Grimsby had served their time in the conference by last season and perhaps even deserved to win the final, meant even though we won it, a lot of us had sympathy for them. In addition to this, the fact that Grimsby fans then came onto our forums after to congratulate us was a touch of class, something I personally won't forget. Plus they came on to congratulate us on this year promotion too. So for 99% of Rovers fans, we were desperate for Grimsby to come back where they belong :)

I think Bristol rovers have given us all hope.

If they can do it, we've all got a chance of doing it. It's nice when things like that happen

I've always maintained that I have a soft spot for Grimsby after our playoff final in 2006 when a few of their fans came into the Yates's in Cardiff after the game and couldn't have been more gracious in defeat, going so far as to buy my mates and myself a drink by way of congratulations.

Takes balls to do that and for that reason I was really hoping they'd come up with us.

Many were starting to feel he was never going to do it. Hurst has been great in the way that he's consistently kept us in the playoffs for four years but that's why people were annoyed; barring a small period last year, we never really challenged for the title when we really should have been.

Couple that in with dropping some of your best players for petty reasons, having 'favourites', being really stubborn, aiming some uneccessary comments at fans ( I didn't really care about this one, some are easily offended), and failing to resolve several persistent issues has seen the fanbase grow agitated. Some people didn't even want him here if we were promoted!

I'm actually very pro-Hurst so I'm really happy for the guy; he's solid defensively so we shouldn't lose too many next year. He's also starting to know how to attack better, shown by our 106 goals this season.

Can see league two being very close next season, think the two who came up will do well plus relegation could well be a basket club with the nuttiest owner sending his club into oblivion.....

Crawley, Newport and Morecambe will need massive improvement over the summer to make the relegation battle close. Between the three of them they achieved one win in their last ten games.

Crawley to me definitely seem a basket case with their new owner, can see Newport bringing in enough good players to avoid trouble. Morecambe who knows written off every season always do enough. Blackpool, Notts County and Leyton Orient better hope their headache owners don't mess the teams up so much they get dragged into it
