That's a great comparison because being able to provide a moderately successful solution to the direction of a football game and being able to provide a moderately successful solution to world energy concerns are essentially interchangeable - and no one ridicules people for thinking they know better than top football managers anyway.

They're both using the knowledge at our disposal to comment on something that we readily acknowledge others know more about than us. I also think its a perfectly workable solution when you can read fans saying we should sign 'x, y and z' or have used a certain tactic due to nothing more than watching football, may as well watch a few rocket launches and comment on space exploration, eh!? At least myself (and judging from the comments a few others) have read a certain amount on this subject to hold a discussion without claiming to be experts. I assume you never have a bad word to say about the government due to not having a degree in PPE...or even vote based on things you don't hold any working experience in other than to have read up on it? But I take your point, I'll refuse to speak about something I dont have a degree in in future.
