So the three clubs with the highest attendances at step 3. I can only assume they have spent beyond their means on players in the hope that attendances will go back to normal, in which case they only have themselves to blame.
Just a couple months back South Shields wasted 200k trying to take the FA to court. So its laughable that they're now pleading poverty.

Glad the NL have got sorted.

Not so straight forward in the EFL. The PL seem happy enough to offer something to L1 and L2 but they're inclined to let the Championship sort themselves out. The three reasons seem to be that 1) half the Championship Club's have rejected £10m+ offers for players, so they can't be that desperate for cash (can also be interpreted as why can't we (PL) pick up your players cheaper), and 2) that there are some seriously wealthy people running Club's at that level, why can't they keep funding themselves. Of course, they were financing Club's way above what they can realistically afford pre-Covid so the chances of further funding from the Boardroom are pretty slim I suspect. Finally, 3) they effectively refused to discuss a salary cap and show no willingness to do so.

But it sounds like nothing will be forthcoming until after the transfer window closes anyway to ensure the money is spent on maintaining what's already there rather than financing gluts of signings.

A potential absurd peculiarity in the rules has just come up for Sutton. We’ve just been drawn at home in the Surrey Senior Cup to Sutton Common Rovers, who also play at Gander Green Lane. Pretty much every SCR supporter is really a Sutton United supporter

What a fix... you guys get your reserve team in the cup while we're probably going to get knocked out by South Park again

Back on topic - you'd hope that the powers that be would use logic (yeah, I know...) & realise the SSC isn't going to cause any ground to pack out & let the National League sides have fans in, seeing as the rest of us are allowed fans in right now.

The nonsense of the COVID restrictions as they currently stand mean King's Lynn have now teamed up with the local theatre to show streams of home games King’s Lynn Town Football Club and Alive West Norfolk Team Up - King's Lynn Town FC

So you can sit inside a theatre with 99 other fans but can't be out in the open air at a much bigger venue with a smaller density of fans? Appreciate we all have a responsibility to help reduce the spread but it is inconsistencies like this that make regulations harder not easier to enforce

I heard the only reason the government didnt want football fans back in at elite level is activities before and after.
They basically saying that football fans are more likely to get drunk and break the rules than someone going to theatre. Also its more likely for fans to shout in proximity to others and also celebrate goals differently to watching swan lake.

The dont want it at elite level as it will be in the national papers if something happens rather than down the pyramid people will just moan and none will be wiser

Yet, they allow people to go into pubs and watch the same games, so people will still be getting drunk but indoors and in closer proximity to others.

And even in Scotland Celtic and Rangers are on Twitter saying they will just have a mass get together in houses or even open pubs and hope they don’t get caught !

Eaton Pie is right - there isn’t that trust in the football fan to behave after the Liverpool and Leeds celebrations.

I live on the Wirral and have heard of plenty of happy clappers planning to just drive into Cheshire to watch the derby game in pubs there. Its ridiculous.

Anyone else have an awful gut feeling that it's not gonna go ahead on Saturday like we all think?

Someone jinx it and create the weekend thread! LongEatonPie :animatedf:

True but the way things are going even that will be stopped, as in, allowing sporting events to be broadcast in pubs and public spaces.

Just say your organising a Black Lives Matter or extinction rebellion anti lockdown protest but behind one of the goal which just so happens to be during a game, won’t come near you.

Can't the NL just set up a shell company that pretends to sort out PPE, in order to siphon millions without going to tender? It'd be much quicker than this going-cap-in-hand lark.

Guess that’s Wrexham not playing for two weeks now that Wales are ordering a lockdown.

Sure I read all non essential businesses were closing like hairdressers, not sure football is essential.

This will be a fantastic time to see if the Java Scripting "Jokes and Banter" document I've created so I can make friends with my Non League buddies on here will work.

If I input lines in the script such as "Wrexham" "Wealdstone" "4 Goals conceded " "Social Distance" etc it should come out with a joke.

There was a caveat to that statement where he said "all non essential businesses must close unless it is impossible to work from home" He was basically covering his back putting the decision to those in factories etc to those bosses. Stops them having to pay out i guess. Very sneaky and i think the rest of the uk will adopt this stance.

Absolute disgrace that. It's supposed to cover lost revenue.

So a bankrolled club who average a few hundred fans get's nearly £50k more than a fan owned club who averages 2,000 fans and is completely reliant on that gate money.

Nothing surprises me with this lot though sadly.
