With other countries putting up a ban on outdoor gatherings over a certain number (around 500 usually), surely a ban on supporters at certain games in this league is just around the corner due to the outbreak of Covid-19. What would this mean for your club?

I understand that the likes of Boreham Wood, Ebbsfleet and Halifax will be unaffected.

Looking at it seriously, surely postponing games and delaying the season would make more sense than playing games behind closed doors? Neither is ideal, but the loss of money from closed doors would kill clubs at this level.

With barely any internationals at this level and the season due to end relatively early anyway, surely delaying the season would be doable? Might have to move the play-off and trophy/vase finals from Wembley, but otherwise?

Reckon decisions will have to be made on it within the next week or so.

Yep playing a series of games behind closed doors could be the death of quite a few lower league/non league clubs.

Also what happens with season ticket holders? Do they get a refund for the games they aren't allowed to attend?

I imagine they’d have to.

Can't help but agree. Play offs for promotion & relegation perhaps behind closed doors if it continues too late?

I think compensatory points should be given out to teams based on their attendances

No matter what way you look at it, it will cause huge problems for clubs, especially down from League 1 through the non-league.

If they play behind closed doors they miss out on all the matchday revenue, on the day tickets, food, merch etc.
If they delay the games they still have to pay the wages of all the staff that are on a contract or PAYE and then extend the wages of the staff who only work during the season for how many weeks it will be delayed.

No easy solution, but from what we "are lead to believe" this disease shouldn't be able to last into the the summer.

Feel that would work better than just cancelling the season altogether.

As we've been doing alright this season our crowds have pretty much doubled compared to what we'd usually expect over the last 3/4 months so any loss of revenue may not be as bad as it would have been during an average season. People still have to be paid however. I'm not a football financial expert by any stretch so I'll stand to be corrected.

This weekend's game will probably be played but following that I can see a suspension of games (which I also think would be the right way forward) coming soon as the rate of cases is likely to rise sharply when more and more people start showing symptoms. The outbreak may not be as bad as predictions are saying but authorities will have to plan for worst case scenario and will have to abide by government recommendation.

Hard to predict how bad the spread will be so difficult to say what's the right thing to do in terms of the season itself, it's a case of seeing what will be. Obviously I'd rather the season wasn't declared void given our position and it's just a temporary suspension. Something needs to be done of course as it's got every chance of affecting loved ones especially those that are old or already have underlying health conditions. Life's bigger than football.

Bound to be suspended.

Let's just get the annual Sutton shithousing out the way at the weekend and call it a day.

How long do they knock it on the head for though, we've got 7 weeks worth of footy to play and we're only really just at the beginning of the outbreak, do we still have part timers who only pay their players for 40 odd weeks instead of 52 like full timers, are those players gonna play for nothing or are those clubs gonna have to fork out more and potentially screw themselves financially.

Good job this will be a decision for the FA to make and not the clowns who run the NL, we still don't officially know how many are going down yet.

Scrap the season now. In doing so, Wrexham will be assured of another season with the big boys and their long suffering fans can finally breathe in a huge sigh of relief. And start a new play off thread on RP come September time.

Sorry sweetcheeks, but humour works best when it has a grain of truth in it. Fancy another go?

Sack it off for a few weeks,, delay the Euros for a year, finish the season in May and June. The FA/Govt have enough to loan clubs in the interim. Job done.

Let's assume they suspend the season now. When will it be able to start again? The experts are saying that coronavirus isn't going away anytime soon and that, if anything, it's going to be even worse next winter than it is now.

With everyone acting like the sky is falling down and the world is ending, it's hard to see football coming back at all once it is suspended. Never mind the fact that people who would go to football will just find other things to do and other ways to spread the virus if they can't go.

will be a problem if teams were not able to field a team due to their players having caught this virus,if that happens then the league should be suspended or what

Main hope is that by that time there'll be a vaccine. We can kiss this season goodbye, given the way our government's doing nothing for prevention

I was in the suspend the season camp but there's no way it'll get completed at this rate, confirmed cases are increasing roughly by 25% daily, we're on course to break a 1,000 by Saturday give or take.

Knock this season on the head lads, it's done.

and as the season is over 75% through base the final table on the PPG of teams so far - so AFC Fylde still go down....

Seems to me that the only reasonable thing to do if/when the season is scrapped is to place clubs according to the all time table they are talking about in the league two forum.

http://www.rsssf.com/tablese/engprof-alltime.html

I will settle for 78th place and back in league two along with our fellow fallen brothers
