They’ll not let anyone attend games but they’ll happily just let any fucker into the country (I.e me last week) from a red zone country no questions asked, no form colllected no one telling me to isolate.

I can’t remember a worse government and I grew up in the north east during Thatcher.

I suppose you could consider us fortunate to be part time and to the best of my knowledge have no players
on contract. However full time clubs with contracted players will surely be looking at the abyss unless the FA are able to persuade the government to think again.

If they don’t want to let fans in then the government needs to provide a support package and streaming needs to be put into place so clubs can get as much money back as possible.

Yes if steps 1 & 2 are still to be classified as elite, a support package to each club sufficient to enable streaming would be ,literally, a life saver.Clubs could still operate and pay wages. No brainier ,really, therefore not something that the powers-that-be will consider.

I've absolutely no idea how this cowardly government expects any professional sporting clubs beyond the Premier league to survive.
Whole squads training on full pay with no means of income. Football, cricket, rugby, ice hockey and more besides.
Some professional body, sport, leisure, whatever needs to take this bunch of clowns to court for breaching their right to trade. Third world dictatorship stuff this.

A compromise at this level could still be possible is my hunch, as long as the test events this week go well. Maybe limited to that 1,000 going forward.

I know we’re in a unique position with our ground, but it seems particularly barmy that we couldn’t have 2 or 3,000 in with the space we’ve got, considering some of the things you are currently allowed to do.

We can't play ourselves each week, the league is dead in the water until the balance of fear to anger tips in favour of a national rebellion.

Thing is they won't care about football/ sports generally and it's clubs whilst people are still dying and cases going up.

Streaming services and guess with no fans you don't have to pay the costs associated with opening the stadium
It’s our only hope; we have to assume no spectators until at least the new year. All clubs would need to install a basic, reliable system, with broadcasts at affordable prices. If cleverly organised, could be sold to home and away support. With huge reductions in match-day costs, would allow clubs to at least survive.

Just got back from our ultimately pointless test event. Have to say it’s ridiculous that that isn’t going to be allowed

As far as I can see there has been no spread of cases at these events or serious breaches of behaviour.

The Tests seem to have been a success but the implementation of it has been stopped due to cases rising in other settings.

There seems to be a real willingness among step 1 clubs to play BCD provided some sort of bailout can be secured.

I haven't seen any such noises from step 2 though. They may have more luck reclassifying as non-elite, especially given that's how they were initially treated before protesting.

Bollox to that. They kicked up a fuss about being elite to get the go ahead for the playoffs. No turning it back now. They’ve made their beds

Have they? It's the FA's decision, there's no sign that the government would veto it.

There was also no sign at the time that the government would adopt such an arbitrary policy regarding the return of fans.

I hear B-Wood are the pioneers of arranging streaming and audio services for themselves and others, and are most definitely willing to share.

At a huge price.

By lobbying successfully for elite status, they got their hands on furlough money, and effectively could hibernate. I guess if they repaid the government, they might be able to downgrade . But it ain’t gonna happen.

I don't think this is right. The furlough scheme was universal and applied to all private businesses.
