Thought the referee bottled some big decisions for both teams today

Couldn't see the Cov appeals nor got a great view of the bad tackle on McGivern that looked like it could go either way in terms of card colour as down the other end.

After not giving the Coventry appeals he was never going to give ours tbh so probably evened out.

Referee certainly didn't mind a tackle!

Was surprised to see us in the Purple kit too! We've only worn that twice before when forced so a bit more money's worth for the fans like myself who spent forty quid on it when it was launched Feb last year!

As a team we have hit a bad patch regarding performances, though somehow we are still getting points.we have been superb in most of the games so far so we are due to hit a sticky patch sometime.
It seems Armstrong is either totally knackered and needs a rest ,or he has lost his confidence, every player goes through it so if it is confidence he needs to keep battling away and he will come good again.
The positions we need to fill is goalie and big centre half. The keeper especially makes me feel uncomfortable everytime it goes near him.
So we are not playing well but still getting points so that's a good sign.

Armstrong surprised me today by how poor he played. Is he staying now or off back to Newcastle in January?

valefan16 I have no idea what the plan is, it will have to be sorted out soon as he is due tomgomback early Jan.
The rumour is McClaren is happy for us to keep him at Cov but for how long is anyone's guess.
I feel he needs a rest, a couple of weeks would really help him but perhaps not help us. He's been playing for us and England U19s and he must be close to being shagged out.
I think the standard in this league is not as bad as everyone keeps saying, there are a few decent footballing sides in this division, very few are hoofball merchants

Coventry were crap. Should have been a 0-0, just like the Walsall game.

Battered them first half and they hardly got out of their half. Though we have very little creativity upfront.

Second half we never really did anything, wasn't a classic. Then they scored a goal from nothing.

A decent striker and more potency in attacking areas and we'd be in the play offs.

You get goals from 'nothing' when you have players as good as Maddison.

Coventry were poor granted but we had enough chances first half to kill it off so only have ourselves to blame for that.

This league is a weird one, the three stand outs went up, the three play off losers got weaker and the teams that came down are meh, the only decent side i've seen (other than the odd Vale stand out home performance) is Millwall and that must have been a rare decent one judging by their form since. Its good in that its such an open league that will see three average sides go up but any of the top six squads from last year would piss all over this division this year.

Port Vale had enough chances to kill the game off yet didn't register a shot on target.

For some reason, I don't think this can be true. No idea why though.

Well you've hit the nail on the head with that comment, away from home were not hitting the target! AJ's shot goes in off the post, Foley blazed over a sitter from 10-12 yards when he should score, AJ for some reason doesn't take a free header from 6 yards second half when he decided to chest it down, the ball across the face of goal first half, plenty of good opportunities there but we didn't take them.

With an out and out striker of relative average quality for this level we'd have probably won the game and thats been our Achilles heel.

They did enough in the first half to take a lead into the interval but not really to kill it off

We want to keep out of the whole area of actually being in love with the horse. It's more that we're friends with the horse - we want to jump around with it and have a good laugh with it.

Cov fans what is the opinion on your keeper ? i realise he is young but despite not having loads to do he looks an accident waiting to happen. very flappy and nervous. Also thought Walsall keeper was similar yet you both up there with dodgy keepers. Squads win games, enter Maddison and O'Brien, for us Birchall .....says it all

Had a few superb performances a few weeks back and was being watched by Stoke and West Brom, but since then he has been awful.

Also because we have about 5 or 6 players who can play in the 3 attacking midfielder positions behind Armstrong

Etheridge is a bit of a mentalist when it comes to coming for crosses, corners and his distribution. Solid at shot stopping though and does relieve a lot of pressure when he does come for crosses.
