He would miss the Euros too wouldn't he, if found guilty?

Diet pills aren't exactly doping, but he deserves a ban, absolutely. What an idiotic thing to do. There's no way he even needs fat-burning pills, it's been a psychological reason to take them rather than physical, I'm sure.

Makes his goal celebration of running to hug Kolo all the more funny, though.

Huh. Was just warming to Liverpool again and now they expose themselves as drug cheats. Nice one lads. Hope the punishment is absolutely massive, and don't understand why it shouldn't apply to the team - they benefitted from his cheating.

Must be sickening for Dortmund, having seen him score the equaliser against them.

this is good news surely? a great chance to go all mutu on him, get rid of a shit tier defender and move his hilariously inflated wages off the books. sue him for breach of contract and hire someone who isn't a running joke instead. mind you, the exposing of this anfield drug culture wont do the clubs already tarnished image any good, especially after the very public defense of racism/cannibalism. liverpool is a very strange cult indeed.

I think this is a very interesting point.

The past year or so has seen the slow detoxification of Liverpool since the dark days of defending racism. I think they'd actually made quite good progress (as I indicated in my earlier post, I was starting to quite like them). But this and the impending UEFA-sponsored cover-up has completely undone all that good work.

Fucking hope they get smashed by Villarreal now. I will laugh so hard if they can't even win the Europa League after cheating their way to the semis.

Failed a Test Vs United and took 4 weeks to do the test. in that time scored the winner against Dortmund. United deserved to lose against Liverpool but Dortmund must feel agrieved

Cheating bastards should be docked points and lose all the points when the smack head played.

Penetrating stuff from deep thinker Paul Wilson here:

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/23/mamadou-sakho-drug-test-failure

"Mamadou Sakho’s drugs test failure shows the system appears to be working"

Everyone remain calm. George Smiley has identified the doper at the very heart of the Circus!

"Football generally gets an easier ride than most sports over drugs because it is neither a power nor an endurance sport."

Indeed. It's a power AND an endurance sport.

"Footballers have no need of extra muscle mass like rugby players or weightlifters"

"...nor do they need to keep going for hours like cyclists"

Hence there being no recorded instances of managers ever complaining about tiredness, burn-out and fixture congestion. And why clubs don't spend £15 million + salary on a 4th choice central midfielder in the name of depth.

"It does not appear football has the sort of guilty secret or murky underworld beneath its surface that leads to such uncomfortable questions for other sports."

i am with the comments Dortmund made about this.

its questionable to announce failed drug tests of players after the next round were played. why it is not possible to announce it three days later and to ban the player immediately but they can only blame himself for losing the tie

UEFA considering a punishment for Liverpool which i think is justified.

UEFA already made a statement saying "Liverpool will not be punished, and wishes Liverpool good luck for the rest of the tournament." :D

It's only right. Without those fat burning drugs there is no way he'd have jumped high enough to make that header. Cheating c***.

They had to say that, but Dortmund have issued an official complaint and UEFA have called an emergency meeting for tomorrow.

It is wrong that dependent on how much drugs were in his system whoever shared a drinking vessel with him may be in trouble too.

I fully expect the club to be punished........how do opponents know if the drug taking is club policy?

It is a shame the club will win nothing for UEFA to strip away at the end of the season.

Bad times coming for Liverpool.

oh and more shame on the city thanks to Liverpool.

Sour grapes from Dortmund if they have complained, although I have seen nothing yet to indicate they have. The simple truth is that this is a player issue, not a club one. He will be punished as an individual and the club pending that have suspended him, despite not having to.

In the interests of fairness I think Dortmund have every right to complain. The fact of the matter is that Sakho shouldn't have been on the pitch if he tested positive for an illegal drug. I certainly won't recognize any of their future games in that competition. Liverpool bringing the game into disrepute once again, nothing surprises me with that lot anymore.

It's no different than Toure for City or even Mutu for Chelsea. The clubs received no punishment, the player did. Opposition fans or beaten clubs moaning about it won't change anything about that.

Well this is the problem Dortmund knew he'd failed a test prior to the game..........said nothing and have decided to play the joker card.

Bit cheeky of them but they have people in high places at UEFA do the Germans..........this could turn sour on Liverpool but judging by the Liverpool fans on here who think they have got away with it and are happy to cheat to win a game or 10 i hope they get banned from Europe for 10 years......that would be justice for a variety of reasons to some.

i feel as though sakho, without taking performance enhancing drugs and losing that extra weight, would have found his fat ass 15/20 yards deeper than his cb partner rather than the 10 we saw in that tie. and so i can safely estimate he'd have cost you 9 goals without cheating, rather than the 3 we saw. therefore liverpool should be thrown out of the tournament to be replaced by a club who haven't pumped their players full of ped's. imo and that.

He should have followed the example of players from a certain other club and not turned up for the test.

UEFA will test now all liverpool players, if they find a second who is guilty then Liverpool could face a ban from the Europa League, but thats the normal process and has nothing to do with Dortmund who dont care anymore about the cup as they went already
out.

It's a nonsense to compare Sakho to Mutu. Mutu tested positive for cocaine, which could have no benefit for his performance in any way except in talking about himself for several hours and getting in a fight with a bouncer. Sakho's physical performance will have been improved by the illegal substance he took; ergo your team has benefitted and should be punished.

No surprise to see you absolving your club of responsibility for it, though. I call it Silkyman Syndrome.
