A good time for FGR to finally beat us tomorrow. We're currently without our defensive spine - our two first choice CB's and defensive midfielder - and only have one striker available.

Our back four will be either a winger or CM at RB, an RB at CB and at LB will either be a CM or 17-year old LB. The defensive midfielder will probably be Grant, who plays left of a front three normally. We're all over the place with injuries at the minute.

Not sure it's legal for us to beat Lincoln.

I dont think its any teams fault they cannot play a fa cup match through covid, but with no time for replays etc it is only fair the other team goes through..........I would like to see the team that goes through receive no money for that round, all prize money going to the team with covid......The team progressing then would be rewarded with higher prize money in the next round.

Only if they go through. If the team who advanced get knocked out they'd get no prize money at all.

Know nothing of our opponents tomorrow Kings Lynn other than a glance at the Conference table indicates they have been somewhat competitive in their first season there.

Can see this being a struggle at least until we get the first goal but if we do the usual cliches like be professional etc then obviously we should have enough to eventually beat them I would hope anyway.

King's Lynn is a place with proper non league heritage, Kings Lynn Town are a Phoenix club with an ambitious but shady owner. They've spent a fair amount of money in recent years and have assembled a fairly decent team. A lot of ex Cambridge players have ended up there in the last few seasons.

Adam Marriott is their best known player, was at Cambridge when we were in the Conference and he had ability but remember him looking a bit lazy. Played in the football league with Stevenage. Both us and Stevenage were rumoured to be interested in him earlier this year but nothing has come of the transfer talk.

Rory MacAuley in defence and Michael Gash up top are both tough bastards as well.

Gash is out apparently.

We usually make hard work of non leaguers as I have alluded but should progress... typically after disposing of Cheltenham and MK Away last season in two real tough games on paper than a brave performance at the Etihad it wouldn't shock me if we put in a shitter and go out!

Is it straight to pens if level at full time?

They have Sam Kelly who scored a couple of worldies but was generally awful for us!

Would be nice to get a 4th win in a row and 5th in 6 here to keep momentum going, with the Tuesday game off I expect we will go full strength for this and play a changed side against Liverpool U21 Tuesday.

We play Solihull on sunday.

A relatively in-form club on the up vs a club that hasn't played in two weeks and has won 1 game all season in any competition.

I think we all know how this is going to go. Can't wait for it to be labelled a cup upset when it's really not.

Not being funny, but if either Scunthorpe or Southend beat Solihull or Boreham Wood, then that would be more of a cup shock then the other way round.

Away to Charlie's Angels for us tomorrow in deepest Kent. Banana skin for sure with our form of late. I think we have one fit striker available, a young loanee from Wolves who has struggled to even get off the bench and looks out of his depth so far, so not a good sign.

I still think we will have too much for the Angels. Hopefully an early goal will knock the stuffing out of them. However, if we go a goal behind, I will worry, as heads completely drop when this happens.

I always feel like Marriott was a missed opportunity. I mean, I get all the laziness comments about him (though I disagree - they said the same about Tom Elliott and look where he ended up) but Marriott was so naturally gifted AND was one of ours. I feel we should have spent more time nurturing him than we did. He only started 20 odd games and came off the bench in 30 off. He scored 10 goals but I don’t feel like we got enough out of him.

And Rory McAuley is one of my favourite U’s players from the Conference days. If I was going to war I’d want him next to me. That winner at Luton too. Goosebumps.

It’s good both of them and Gash are doing well for Kings Lynn. :)

Well Tomorrow its lge 2 take the piss day. A day reserved for tinpot teams to be knocked out by non league clubs.
As we have drawn Crewe our record of NEVER ever been beat by a non league team in our 150 year history will stay intact.
Who are knocking Exeter out again??????????

Hmmm - are you sure?

What about 1889/90 when Bolton lost 2-1 to The Wednesday? Or 2 years later when they lost to the same team - 5-1 this time.

That's twice in the first 4 Football League seasons - I haven't bothered looking at any more.

For Skelmersdale, this is going to be like trying to climb Everest, barefoot.

No - they were playing in the Football Combination. Completely separate to the Football League and therefore non-league.

Feels like I’m watching Harrogate against Barrow not Skelmersdale. Do they share kits?

You're right, I got the name wrong - it was the Football Alliance:

Now, I already pre-empt your next response and, yes, it was merged with the Football League in 1892 and effectively became the 2nd Division, however, as per the first sentence in the History section of the link I sent you:

"It was formed by 12 clubs as an alternative to the Football League"

The two times Wednesday beat Bolton was before it merged with the Football League so, again, they were non-league at the time.

That was only in the Cowley era but they've long gone.
120 minute draw and a FGR win on penalties

Yup, I think you have a good chance. Appleton said he has big injury worries in what already is a small squad.

Yeah, I'd say he's a missed opportunity as well. Even after he left us there's been two or three times when we had chances of getting him back but we've decided against it, though to be fair until this season we probably didn't have the creativity for him to flourish. He's always had talent, his interest was just elsewhere. I think part of the reason he went to King's Lynn was so he could explore his other interests.

The people who called Elliott lazy were idiots. He started his time at Cambridge off well then injuries ruined his confidence, when Elliott's confidence went the fans confidence in him quickly disappeared as well.

Have to agree with you about MacAuley, a great servant for the club. A real soldier. Has had a really tough time off the field so I'm delighted to see him do well at King's Lynn.

Is it extra time and penalties today if it ends in a draw or are there replays?

Result to be decided on day.
No replays.

Nice one ta

Don’t really know what to expect at home to Accy today. They’re coming off the back of only two training sessions and 16 players having covid meaning they’ve had 2 weeks off whilst we’ve just sacked our manager and had one of our best performances of the season on Tuesday night against Harrogate. Could go either way really.
