I really hope no one is left out that could play. What a great experience it would be to go to an international tournament without all the national pressure that surrounds a senior one.
I don't see any real point in taking Sterling to be honest. I agree that tournament experience would be good for his development, but he's pretty much a fully fledged senior international isn't he?
Harry Kane and Ross Barkley would certainly be in the squad though.
So the squad has been chopped down and Southgate has left our Woodrow, Afobe, Bamford, and Dier. Bamford is injured, Woodrow isn't good enough, and Afobe hasn't really been involved thus far, but leaving out Dier is an odd one. Southgate says it's because he already has lots of good CBs and Dier was left out because he can be back for the next campaign, but then, that doesn't explain why Chambers is still in the squad. I suspect Dier just made it known that he would be with his club than sit on the bench for the U21s.
