I am very interested in what are the processes of entry to your ground, because in introducing new measures PAFC have in part justified these citing the Counter Terrorism Unit. I don’t object to the measures, though there have been some teething problems, I am interested in the experience of other clubs. Is there an EFL directive about new security measures, or is this an Argo thing only?

We have another friendly tonight and I’ll see how the system of entry has progressed.

Well in addition to the nor so checking bags and removing canned drinks and the like, it is now that they have a steward using a ’wand’ to check everyone. Its a bit like going through airport controls with Big machine. There is a separate line for male and females with an appropriate gender steward for each. It is not a big deal, though it has not really been fully explained exactly why they are doing it, other than the points I noted above.

however, when it first started it was a) not applied consistently across the ground, b) you had to take everything out of your pockets and put it on a table. This part of the process seems to have been withdrawn and c) there were not necessarily women stewards checking women.

As I say it is not in itself particularly onerous, and the club have made some significant improvements. however, my query was re the point of the counter terrorism unit and whether other clubs are making the same point?

Hmm that does seem very ott. Nothing wrong with being cautious about stuff like that at all, but airport type security just for a normal 3rd tier football match does seem odd.

Can’t say any of our protocols have changed since we were last allowed in the ground for a competitive league match (Feb last year), but who knows what might be in place by the time we get back in.

be interesting to see what happens to you and others. It has only really come to a head because we had three home games in about a week. As I say the wands are not invasive, the bloke literally goes round you front and back, up and down, in a few seconds, but it is very different to what has happened before.
