1-0 to Birkirkara after 15mins, a good stream if anyone would like the link.

Red card. Wrong decision but too predictable.

This is genuinely shameful from West Ham. The Maltese league is Conf South standard.

Seen it again, surely has to be a yellow each or a red each, both gave as good as they got!

I'll be very surprised if West Ham don't create at least a few good chances in the latter stages of the game.

Penalty shoot out. This is bloody appalling.

We don't deserve to go through after that performance whatever the result of the penalty shoot out is.

Jesus. Thank fuck for that. Individually might have been one of worst - if not the worst - result for an English team in Europe, ever?

They might enjoy the extra long work out but then West Ham didn't play well at all!

West Ham were truly shocking tonight? They need to take a long hard look at themselves.

They will need to up their game for Astra of Romania who beat Inverness.

Decent draw for Aberdeen against K.Almaty of Kazakhstan.

Tough draw for Southampton.

New York is closer, as it's basically in China. They've had to charter a plane and will lose money on the tie, even if they win. There's a very tough game away at Dundee Utd a few days later too. I agree that it's winnable on paper, but they're still a decent side - should be interesting given the distinct home advantages.

You could tell that West Ham were taking the piss in this competition when they only managed four in two legs against Lusitanos. Looks really poor when stacked up against how some obscure non-league standard part-timers have destroyed them:

To get two men sent off in four games against Andorran and Maltese opposition is embarrassing as well.

Astra are roughly League One standard, which will be more than good enough to beat West Ham if they play like they have so far.

IMO Southampton will be fine. The Dutch league is not what it was and I get the impression they will take this competition a lot more seriously than West Ham.

Can't see Aberdeen coming through that tbh.

Celtic aside, the Kazakh league is genuinely stronger than the SPL, as are a whole host of other Eastern European leagues.
