Was at the game last night and what a brilliant little ground Ilkeston have got. Friendly staff and fans alike.

As for the game, I thought the referee was a bit idiotic for both sides.
- For the penalty, there was a blatant push on Whitey which was not given.
- He also ruled out what looked like a perfectly good goal for Ilkeston, not sure why it was chalked off, maybe a push on Jameson? I've not seen the highlights yet.
- The sending off for us was spot on though as I thought Hunter went straight through his man.

I thought Cartman had a great game and tried his hardest up top on his own. When he went off, it was obvious we were playing for the draw with Youhill sitting back and we weren't pressing for a winner.

All in all - A point away from home on a Monday night with a patched up team and players in different positions. I'm happy.

Good luck for the season Ilkeston.

Bit worried that they are peaking a bit too soon and will fade away as the season goes on. I mean, they are on track to score over 120 goals at this pace, can't last. I hope they can keep winning even as they inevitably slow down scoring.

I hope they are the real deal, would love to see them get into the play offs.

Weren't nantwhich in north west counties league not so long back?
They got back to back promotions around 2006 ish, also won the fa vase and moved stadium around the same time. They were getting big crowds a few years ago 600-700 odd a week but that's tailed off over the years to about 250-300, still 3 times as many as back in the north west county days.

Att. 445 Blyth Spartans 4 - 0 Mickleover Sports

Att. 272 Colwyn Bay 1 - 1 Nantwich Town

Att. 183 Grantham Town 2 - 1 Matlock Town

Att. 341 Ramsbottom United 0 - 3 Darlington

Att. 246 Whitby Town 4 - 2 Ilkeston FC

A comfortable win for us today against a Ramsbottom team that rarely threatened us. Good to see us getting a clean sheet. Our league position last year was built upon the best defence in the league and if we want to do well again we can't afford mistakes at the back cause teams at this level will punish you. Armstrong, Youhil and Cartman with our goals. Cartman has been stand out so far this season, so good to see him getting on the score sheet.

Nice to be leading the way early on but need to keep improving if we want to stay there. If after 10 or so games you'd have said we'd be top 3 I'd definitely have taken it. Getting knocked out the FA cup was frustrating but it means less games and more focus on the league. And from our first few months I see no reason why we can't mount a title challenge

Think when the Ilkeston manager decamped I'm the summer the more experienced players went too. Lots of promising younger players but lacking the experience apparently. Hope they turn it round though as the reports from darlo fans was that it was a great little club from our trip on Monday.

Yes they are a very well run club. Although they are our rivals I wish them all the best.

South shields are getting 500+ in northern league div 2 but as you said about nantwhich things could tail off once novelty wears off

Any info on what is going on at Ashton United? I see they made the playoffs in the last two years, but they've started this season slowly. Are they weaker now or just a bad patch? Something happen over the summer maybe? Lose some players after another loss in the playoffs?

Speaking of rising teams i recall a poor ramsbottom playing evenwood think it was late 90s in fa vase. Similiar teams in northern league at the time have well and truly stagnated now

Speaking of Ramsbottom, Nantwich have just spanked them 7-1. The Dabbers are scoring a crazy amount of goals this season.

Ramsbottom's manager resigned on Tuesday, prior to the spanking. In a bit of trouble, largely started when Salford took their management team last season, who then proceeded to take the majority of the Ramsbottom team that had been promoted the previous season with them.

We drew 1-1 at Skelmersdale last night, Armstrong with goal (or own goal depending on the dubious goals panel). Three away games on the spin, be nice to see a home game on Saturday.

A couple of trick away games coming up for us too.

Important that we get back to winning ways on Saturday though.

We've signed Lee Gaskell from Ramsbottom. Bit of a strange one. Manchester based, so that's some travelling for training. However, much easier for him for away games. Scored 100 plus goals in last 4/5 seasons apparently, so bolsters our attacking options.

Return to form with a 5-1 win away at Mickleover Sports. Lee Gaskell (3), Nathan Cartman and Stephen Thompson with the goals. Back up to second, three points off Blyth, who lost at home to Sutton Coldfield who are now third. Only three points between second and eighth.

Looks tight up at the top of that league, Buxton seem to finally becoming a little more consistent this season, and a good draw at FCUM in the cup last night as well.

Looks like it could be a wide open race for promotion in your league this season.

We haven't actually played a bad side yet - even Mickleover were better than 5-1 suggests. It's anyone's title at the moment. Away to Ashton tonight - another difficult away trip.

Their GK/manager is an angry little man who goes mental at the ref a lot. I've not seen you lot obviously, but if we had played to the level we can, or had a few more of our missing players available then we would have won far more easily. They might have played badly by their standards to be fair, it's hard to tell.

Any information on Barwell? We seem to be on a tour of NPL Premier teams! I see they have Iyseden Christie playing for them!

Didn't go, but reports suggest the manager and bench were knobs - Assistant manager offering out fans during game, and Goalkeeper/Manager trying desperately to pick a fight with someone at the end. We won 2-1, with goals from Nathan Cartman and Graeme Armstrong, the winner coming in the 90th minute, just to annoy them even more. Ground out a win, which takes us top for now.

We beat Barwell 3-1 in our first home game of the season. Big team, have had some good results this season. Game was closer than scoreline suggests. Up until last night, when they beat Halesowen 6-0, they seemed to be better away from home, having won 4 from 7, with only one win at home (now 2). Christie still appears to know where the net is, though obviously not the player he was.

Sutton Coldfield Town vs Salford City

Workington vs Nantwich Town

Some interesting games today. Darlo v Stourbridge is 1st v 3rd and Stourbridge are one of the form teams in the division atm. Added to that We are missing two key defenders so I wouldn't expect this to be a goalless draw. We have enough up front to challenge any team but it's whether we can keep a clean sheet with a make shift defence.

Sutton Coldfield v Salford is another top 5 clash. Sutton have out performed all expectations but salford have one of the best away records in the division. So another tight game here.

Blyth and Workington is another interesting game. Two experienced teams who I still think will be up there come the end of the season.

Good result for us today considering how cobbled together our back line was. Stourbridge are one of the form teams so getting that result is always positive.

Salford did well against Sutton Coldfield who've been impressive and Blyth came from behind to beat Colwyn to go back to the top of the league.
