Nantwich flying at the minute, and scoring bags of goals. They travel to Blyth next in a battle between the top two.

Att. 163 Ashton United 0 - 2 Blyth Spartans

Att. 461 Salford City 2 - 2 Colwyn Bay

Att. 684 Workington 2 - 1 Darlington

Slightly disappointed with last night. Workington was always going to be a tough place to go but from the sounds of it a draw would have been a fair result. Unfortunately at 1-1 we pushed on in the last 10 minutes and got caught on the counter attack with a fantastic finish from their lad. Good attendance for a Tuesday night I'm told there were a few hundred darlo there. On to the next game now. A very long trip to North Wales on Saturday to face Colwyn Bay. This league is certainly a step up but it think after a little acclimatizing we can be pushing for the top 5.
Its a good league. Remember seen blyth v kings lynn last season. Was good game. Darlo v blyth will be intresting

Will be a very tough game for us. Blyth have started really well and were one of the form teams at the end of last year. In Dale and Mcguire they have one of the most dangerous attacks in the league. I'm glad we're at home and should be a good crowd and a decent atmosphere if Blyth bring a couple of hundred through. Always hopeful for a win and know we do have quality in our squad. But 4 points from the next 2 games certainly wouldn't be a bad return.

No real easy games in this league and we'll have to work hard to get points on the board. Though i do think we've had a fairly tough August Trips away to Buxton and Colwyn Bay and a mid week trip to Warrington and the Bank holiday game against Blyth.

The first of the bank holiday weekend fixtures. Big games at Blyth v Nantwich who are the early.pace setters and the game between Buxton and Salford will be a tough one to call.

As for us a long long European trip to Wales to play Colwyn. Always tough to play well after long away trips on the same day but hopung we have the quality to get the away win going into a tough Bank Holiday Monday game against Blyth.

Decent win there.

Also, Colwyn Bay is a lovely little town. Lovely promenade.

results for Saturday's games. Seems like anyone can cause an upset in this league certainly there are no easy games and if you turn up and you're not right you'll get beaten.

As for us. a good strong win considering we had a CB at CF, its our longest trip of the season and there were two leages between the two sides last season.

We move onto the Blyth game on monday now. Will be really tough but hopefully a good game and a good crowd and we can inflict Blyth first defeat of the season.

quick turn around for all the teams in the league. After yesterdays results where only Darlo and Salford of the top 10 won its gard to make any predictions over what to expect.

We have a really tough game against Blyth who are still unbeaten in the league. Our home form has always been good and hopefully it can withstand what i think is the best strike force in the league. We do have quality though and we'll create chances. Will be an interesting game and will show us how we compare to a team that i think will definitely be top 5 at the end of the season. Hopefully a big crowd for the game too. Think of Blyth can bring 250-300 fans to the game we could be looking at around 1,600 in total which would be brilliant and would beat some clubs even in the conference.

Might pop over to watch Nantwich vs Buxton tommorow could be a decent game. Nantwich seem good value for money this season. Very good point at Blyth last time out.

If their start is anything to go by Nantwich look a very decent side. Buxton were very organised and hard to break down when we played them. Would expect both to be top 10 at the end of the season so should be a decent game.

Fantastic result for us today coming back from 1 down against a Blyth team that im pretty sure will be in the top 5. But just as good as the result was the attendance. 1767is brilliant for this level and can inly think it would have been even more of we were back in darlington.

End of august and a month where we've certainly had some tough games but we've managed 12 points for 6 games sitting 3rd currently. So great basis to build for the rest of the season.

Elsewhere Hyde did very well to beat Salford infront of a good crowd for a MaManchester derby.

on a sour note it seems a Blyth attendee hashelped themselves to a go pro which was bought by donations from fans for the filming of highlights. Such a shame and i hope the inindividual is found and shamed.

Hoping we can capitalise on some winnable games at the start of this month before tougher tests against Skelmersdale and Ilkeston at the end of September. Would be great to be able to put a run on 4-5 wins together and take the initiative in a leage where it looks like anyone can get beaten on a weekly basis.

Here's hoping our born again centre forward, 39 year old Alan White, can maintain his free scoring form (3 in 2 games). Has to go down as one of my all time favourite Darlington players. Still fitter than lads half his age, always gives 100%, and still good for a sweepstake on the minute he gets booked.

Interesting to see Lee Hughes has moved on to Worcester from Ilkeston. Fans on their forum think its going to be big for them dont think they have enough in terms of strikers. Its good news for the rest of the league he'd already scored a few and would have got a hat full at this level in a full season

A comfortable 3-0 win at Halesowen on Saturday saw Darlington up into 2nd place. Goals from Graeme Armstrong, Kevin Burgess and Steve Thompson.

We have also signed Ryan Brobbel, formerly of Middlesbrough, who had loan spells at both Hartlepool and York, and Anthony Bell, following his release from Cardiff. Two more wide players, five wingers in total at the club now.

Home game to bottom club Ramsbottom tonight. We have a bit of history with them - they beat us three times out of three, including the Play off Semi-Final, in our first season at Evostik level. However, with their management team, and most of their players, de-camping to Salford last season, a totally different set-up now. Hoping for a good result against them at last.

Hoodoo broken. 2-1 win over a Ramsbottom team who were far better than the league table would suggest. Nathan Cartman, and the evergreen Alan White with the goals. In a team that over the past couple of seasons has scored goals for fun, I don't think Whitey will have ever imagined he would be leading goalscorer at any point, but he seems to have discovered his inner Centre Forward late in life.

Still second in table, after Blyth won 1-0 at Salford, but with 5 of our first 8 games having been against teams currently in the top 8, very happy with the start we've made.

Top 3 all lost this weekend, including Darlo losing 3-2 at home to Hyde. Nantwich moved up to 3rd with a 6-2 win over Grantham. 29 goals already this season for the dabbers.

What happened Darlo. Hyde have only won about 10 games in the past 3 seasons.

2 poor performances from us against Hyde. Didn't learn anything from our cup defeats. Back 4 looked unorganised and full backs left too much space in behind. Ohhh well liklihood is we'll only have to play them once more haha.
Still happy with our start to the season

Spent 10 years living in Sutton Coldfield and used to catch a few games a season, so was delighted to see them finally get promoted from step 9 last year, and even more so now they've got off to a fantastic start as well (especially after a couple of early drubbings). No chance it'll last but 15 points means they're well on their way to safety already, especially when there's always seemingly at least one complete basket case at this level.

They've got Mor Diop, part of our relegation from the Football League squad, up front for them. One of our better players that season, though that still made him absolute garbage compared to your average league two player.

Two down to Hyde at half time on Saturday, we got back to 2-2 thanks to goals from Nathan Cartman and David Dowson, only to give an absolute gift away in the 90th minute. Scott Spencer with a hat-trick for Hyde - looks a good striker for this level as we struggled with him in the cup last week as well. Still second, after Blyth were hammered by Stourbridge, for whom Justin Richards and Karl Hawley look a decent strikeforce. Very even league - other pacesetters Buxton beaten by Mickleover, and Salford trounced 3-1 at home by Rushall Olympic.

Chance to bounce back at Ilkeston tonight.

I was slightly disappointed that Martin Gray didn't speak to the media on Saturday either.

We really need to get the three points tonight and get back into our stride.

They were promoted from Step 8 to Step 7 last year, cheers.

I notice Stamford were tonked 7-1 by fucking Hyde tonight which means they have conceded a whopping 35 goals in their 9 league games while scoring 25!

Another hat-trick for Scott Spencer as well.

We managed a 1-1 draw at Ilkeston, despite playing with 10 men for 40 mins, after Chris Hunter was sent off. Terry Galbraith with the goal. Sees us go top of the league, if only until the rest play tonight.

Not a bad away point last night. Traveling away mid week as a part time club is never easy so we have to accept that away points are good results. Hopefully we can keep moving forward and get a good result at the weekend and keep up the pressure on the rest keeping us near the top of the division
