I think that Scott Neilson's still at Whitehawk. Excellent player on his day. He signed for them after he left us last season and couldn't sign for another Conf Premier team but I'm surprised he didn't get taken on by another National Premier team this season.

Another MOTM performance by our favourite former Mariner...Bradley Wood.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Brad always gives you 100%. Unfortunately he's just not good enough to play regularly in a team with serious asprirations of promotion.

Lincoln never have serious aspirations of promotion.

Lincoln far more likely to challenge for promotion then Wrexham this season imo.

Lincoln have better credentials than Wrexham. He's called Rhead.

Not arsed about any promotion talk on this thread, it's a Cup thread after all. Of which Wrexham were knocked out by our tiny neighbours Gainsborough Trinity at home.

End of discussion.

Forgive us, we're not used to having a side that is half decent. We're still coming to terms with it.

Nah we are here to stay.

It's good to know how rattled Imps fans get from a comment made in jest though. Not to mention a curmudgeonly old Chester fan and a mentalist top lad.
You couldn't rattle your niece's cot mobile, let alone me. Try again another time.

I really didn't expect.much from you this season, mostly based on your manager really, but you look to have a good balance to the team and some canny old campaigners. Things we don't have for starters!

Hope you smash Whitehawk.

Oh well, enjoy Whitehawk Lincoln. Shouldn't have even gone to a replay, but it did and with your home form and our keeper saying bye after 15 minutes, it was always going to go one way. Feel like we've been had by the officials, but good luck in the next round.

Think we were reasonably fortunate with a couple of important decisions, however Norwood should have been yellow carded for a blatant dive and Hearn was lucky to avoid injury when one of your players took him out with a horrible high tackle which could have easily been a red.

Tranmere made it hard and time wasted when they went down to 10 (understandably). We struggled the longer the game wore on and ran out of ideas. Thankfully Rhead got a great header back for Hearn to head home and Robinson sealed the win shortly after.

Going to be a tough game at Whitehawk, delighted to get through and the money will definitely help us. We are a different Lincoln this season, we don't play much football, but we definitely are a very together team and hard to play against.

They did, a deflected, nothing shot which was heading straight into Drench's hands :(
No complaints though we had enough chances to win 7-2

We lost 1-0. To be honest, it's one of the hardest things to say in football, but they were just better on the day. They were better in the first game too. We got to the replay by stepping it up and putting everything on the line, we couldn't quite find the extra gear tonight to do it again. You're always disappointed with most of the goals you concede and this one was no different, but we barely troubled their 'keeper in both games. They just had a faster tempo to their play than us. They were better at closing down, and they were better at moving the ball on when they had it. Their forward line had some good movement, though we learnt to cope with it and prevent them having too many clear cut chances. When we tried to step it up after going behind we weren't helped by a lot of offside calls, many of which were marginal, and some refereeing that pointed to someone who didn't want to play extra time. To be fair though, it probably had no real bearing on the game.

I feel if we had a striker who was more of an aerial threat we might have stood more of a chance, their weakness is their goalkeeper who can't catch a thing, but he was well protected.

Beaten by the better side, no shame in that. New club record attendance of 1162 might help us grow the crowds a bit more in the league games too. That said it wasn't the best game because they mostly stopped us from getting going. Just wondering how many we would have had for a first round home tie... shame it wasn't to be.

We had a few and all. One goalmouth scramble with three unsuccessful shots from a few yards out in it, Drench blocking a Tuton shot from point blank range, and Kingsley James being through on goal for about 50 yards before passing it to the keeper at the very end, all of the top of my head! Certainly seemed to lack the fiery contests we've had in previous seasons.

Good to see Mowgli again though. Watching him shake off his mane a couple of times was a nice distraction from the football.

Onto our first meeting with Wycombe Wanderers! Glad of all wins and any kind of win, and in a way those two games were good practice for Kelly for restarting our league campaign. It'll be nice to see more than 1,300 home fans at the Shay for the first time this season.

Nothing like damning with faint praise is there? You make it sound like you were all over us but we pinched it. How many saves did Glennon have to make? One. We had at least 6 cast iron chances but tried to walk two of them in. Boltons shot was a screamer that still had enough power to fizz into the net off Toulsons arse. Guisly look a very poor team who will be joining us in Conference North next season. Get in.:woo:

You certainly did have some great chances after we changed formation and tried to take the initiative, we needed an equalizer and began leaving holes at the back. Thank god for Drenchy. Would they have happened had we taken an earlier chance?
Perhaps i should have said 7-5!

Is it possible for sides who've been knocked out to re-schedule fixtures? We've got midweekers at Woking and v Southport which would be good candidates to move if it were allowed.

Otherwise might take in another game. Halifax is closest, though given I missed the Eastleigh visit to PP, a trip to Crewe possible to see how bad or good The Vsion really are.

Yep. We have brought our tip to Nuneaton originally scheduled for April 16th! Ridiculous decision IMO to schedule another away trip.

Since the 19th of September we have played

Stockport (A)
Tamworth (A) Cup
Stalybridge (H)
Hednesford (A) Cup
Boston (A)
Macclesfield (A) Cup
Saturday Telford (A)
7th November Nuneaton (A)
14th Nov Harrogate (A)
21 Nov Boston (H)
28th FA Trophy - TBC
5th Dec Lowestoft (A)

If we get an away draw in the trophy thats a ridiculous 10 away games in 12 fixtures?!

Sounds as though it was a comfortable win last night but we made hard work of it, if that makes sense?!

Tranmere obviously didn't threaten after the sending off (I've not seen it, but a handball outside the area as last man?) but the way we approach games isn't really based around probing sides and playing it sideways so it was a case of just wear them down. Always got a chance with Rhead and Hearn up front, though, and 6 clean sheets in the last 9 for us now.

It might be an idea for us to stay down south after the Whitehawk game because we're at Aldershot on the Tuesday.
