Clubs have to market the cup right.

As awful as Cheltenham can be, they got the cup prices bang on this season and last (£12 adults, £1 for kids, £6 concessions).
Yes that’s right. We’ve got a replay to come week Tuesday and I expect we’ll try to reduce the ticket prices for it. That said, I don’t think reducing prices will put much on the gate, especially with it being on the Tuesday between two home Saturday games.

Fair enough but all the same your team were playing another League 1 team, not too distant from Sheffield, and you only get near about 1/3rd of your average attendance!!

I guess it is because the FA Cup is still magic to teams who have never experienced much success in it such as FGR, who took one of their bigger away following to non-league South Shields.
Also South Shields had one of their best ever attendance.
Tbh you only took the bigger away following as you offered free travel. Without that, it would easily have been less than 100, especially if you only took approx 150 with free travel.

FA Cup attendances are always lower in earlier rounds especially for a shit all league 1 tie. No surprise at all.

The attendances were generally poor but its nothing new, MK getting less than 2k home fans is bonkers but there isn't as much attraction now for it.

Season Ticket holders have to pay so for instance for a family of four your adding 50-60 quid onto your normal matchday costs from a league game which makes it harder to attend compared to a league game.

Our game v Exeter was about the least attractive draw we could of got aside from Exeter away so no magic or story, at this stage its more about the non league clubs and what it means to them... for L1/2 clubs it only gets generally exciting if you get to R3 (and even then we had less for our game against Premier League Brentford than we have on average this season).

I think this weekend was the first time I recall us closing stands for an FA Cup tie, although was surprised we managed to get 4600 home fans!

Aside from the Manchester City away tie the FA Cup hasn't really given us a "glam" tie in 15 years so can understand the lack of interest.

Be the same when PL and Championship teams come into it.

Probably be half full stadiums unless they do good ticket offers or it’s a big game .

And playing a side we've faced just a month before and will face later in the season is hardly appealing. It was a Friday night too. When FGR get 8k in a home game come back to me
Thanks for explanation. There was no need to be sarky, I was genuinely interested in low attendances.
FGR will NEVER match Sheff Wed attendances. TNL and when FGR move to Eco Park the stadiums will hold 5,000 max.

Alvechurch have another away game against another Gloucestershire team FGR.
But not too far for their supporters to travel. I worked in Alvechurch and travelled daily to town.
Good fixture for both teams

Ebbsfleet United away who are going great guns in their league. They will fancy their chances, I will be disappointed if Fleetwood can't take them back for a replay......

We can’t complain. We should get past Curzon Ashton next week (famous last words) and then we’ve got Grimsby at home.

A good draw for us and a chance to progress, bit of recent history between the clubs after a big flare up in a pre season friendly which led to accusations and charges for racism against Forestieri.

If played on the Saturday it should see a few stags in attendance but despite the short distance it's one hell of a ballache to get by train.

FFS.
And you just know Woking v Oxford will go to a replay, so we won't be playing on the Saturday

It was on the whole pretty uninspiring wasn’t it? Aside from Newport v Derby (probably), there aren’t many games that will get the tv channels excited.

The further in the draw we got I feared drawing a fellow League 1 side away so was a relief with who we got but the 2nd round draw is very insipid.

The BBC attendance figures for all the matches seem to be on the very low side.
For instance Bolton, whose average home league attendance is 18,356, apparently only had 5,999 when they entertained Barnsley.
Same with Sheffield Wednesday, average home attendance 24,326, had 8,558 at game against Morecambe.
Frankly I find the BBC attendance figures debatable.

Yet you didn’t find the 105 FGR debatable when you made that up!

To be fair 150 is not half bad for a game 6 hours away, on tv and a 12:00pm kick off. Free travel or not! Plus playing South Shields in the first round of the FA cup!

Do you not think 150 is respectable for FGR for this game?

It's a good turnout in my opinion

Ladapo has missed 4 golden chances now in 61 minutes. Two one-on-ones and two side-footed efforts first time from 8 yards.

Absolutely thats a good following. I certainly wouldnt get up to travel that distance, free or not, and spend that long on a bus!

I used to love the FA Cup and had the privilege of seeing my team play in a final and attending but then to see the FA and clubs denigrate and reduce the importance of it I've lost interest.

We've got some absolute bellends on TWTD. Embarassing some of the shite they spout, 0-0 at HT to Bracknell being another perfect example last night.
