Ryan Bowman hattrick and we’re currently leading 3-1 at Meadow Lane. On course to reach the third round for the 7th consecutive season. We’re such a good FA Cup club for some reason!

The fog is rendering this York v Wigan game almost impossible to watch. Can barely tell what’s happening. Reminds me of one night we played Palace in a cup replay in 96 and you could barely see 20 yards ahead and were left relying on crowd noise from the other end to tell what had happened.
Probably wouldn’t go ahead if it was a league game .

Wigan on top although York might have had a penalty for handball had they been playing in Europe !

Maybe it being on TV would have influenced it.

Probably say Wigan are value for the lead based on what can see, not really seen much intent from York. I get they’re two divisions below but it’s a cup game, got nothing to lose having a go.

Into the hat for the third round. Can’t believe we’ve got through that with what we have available. Our game away at Lincoln will be rearranged now.

Comical defending by Notts to be fair. Makes our shutout on Tuesday appear more impressive than it was.

Watch Wigan get Man U away now

All round weird game. We played our reserves for absolutely no good reason, it was probably the worst 3-2 I’ve ever seen. Shrewsbury were genuinely terrible, contender for the worst team I’ve seen all season. We had about 90% possession but created absolutely nothing other than two random long range strikes from a centre back who hasn’t scored for four years and a 17 year-old I’d never even heard of until he came on. Largely because all of our good forwards were either sat on the bench or at home. Shrews somehow offered even less apart from us… just passing them the ball in our own area three times. A great advert for the cup. The beautiful game. Deserved to be 0-0.

We only have 13 fit available outfield players. The fact we keep grinding out points in League One and wins in the FA Cup says a lot more about our opposition most weeks than ourselves. Most fans of other clubs say were atrocious which isn’t far wrong, but not a true representation when we have a fully fit squad.

I’ll take playing shit if it means survival this year by grinding out wins. We just need to get through this transitional season and we should be fine next year, hopefully still being a League One club.

Woo! Anyone feeling the CUP MAGIC?

I’m not.

Can see a very poor gate for us today, the team’s on a bad run of form, it’s a game vs unappealing opposition (Morecambe), and the chance to get to freeze your arse off to watch this champagne spectacle is perhaps not the most appealing.

I’m calling it as a bore draw and a replay, and we lose another couple of players to injury in the process.

Admittedly we still wouldn’t be as hard up on that front as Shrewsbury by the sound of things, but we’re still racking up walking wounded as we head into the congested festive schedule.

Against my better judgment am going to Stevenage today. Initially my main thought was so long as there’s no replay I’m good but it’s fucking freezing outside and the trains been over-crowded on the way there. All of which is to say I really hope don’t have to suffer the hattrick of also seeing that land whale waddling over the pitch at the end to celebrate a win. Been pretty patient myself with Crosby all things considered but that might start making me waver a little.

A couple of long term injuries back in Balmer and Grant which is a good boost today but no Arblaster or Devine…

Last thing we need really but the quad is still on!

Guess the interest will depend on how comes out the hat in R3.

Out with a whimper - pathetic. We’re near the bottom of the form table in the league, and a cup run would have been a nice morale booster and a chance to paper over the obvious cracks.

But no, we get dumped out, and the natives are getting restless.

Dreary game though not lacking effort. For as long as there’s that and the players don’t look like they’ve quit on the manager am happy to ride things out with Crosby in the hope he can start getting some wins. Still the same old issues though, we look tidy enough but when it comes to the final third too many of our players don’t want to take responsibility and just pass it on to someone else resulting in our attacks fizzling out. It’s either being coached by the manager or tolerated, either one needs to change.

Soft penalty for us but after they got away with borderline assault in the league game screw them. Am sure Evans will take it in good grace of course.

553 there today which given how fucking cold it was the club should give everyone double loyalty points or free entry to the replay.

Football is so strange. Sack the manager and then the same players go out and do all the things they haven’t been doing for weeks. If we had scored 8 or 9 today Fleetwood would have had no complaints, such a one sided game against a team that looked as devoid of ideas as we did in
our last few games. It would be just Mark Bonner’s luck that we pull a giant out of the hat tomorrow. This game can be so cruel, but we’ll take the win and hope for an upturn in the league form when the new manager starts. As always the club is pretty leak proof in what’s going on in that direction but the indications are that we won’t have to wait long in finding out.

He hasn’t taken it well! Reckons they dominated which he said after the 0-0.

Great following considering the pricing and the fact we’ve played there a month ago. Replay I guess will have as much importance as the draw gives it tomorrow. Plumb tie it becomes massive, Bolton or Gillingham Away it becomes an undesirable additional game.

13 cup ties this season for us guaranteed now which is bonkers. Don’t think we’ve played 59 games in a season for a long long time if ever.

We played 16 cup ties in 1995/96. 8 in the Anglo-Italian Cup (lost in the final), 6 in the FA Cup (3 replays) and 2 in the League Cup (2 legs).

Total of 62 games.

Played all the hits including how we are big spenders which is certainly an interesting take.

Apparently we have the pizza trophy or whatever it is called now midweek. Frankly just punt on that one. Name the youth team apart from Loft and then let the first team squad have a week to prepare for Exeter. Can look at what we do for the cup replay after tomorrow’s draw. Unless it’s a proper big club or the shit then maybe that needs to fall by the wayside also.

Yeah felt you had an extra gear to go into that you didn't need today. Still though, I think we gave an okay account of ourselves considering we've changed direction and manager less than a week ago. If we'd have taken one of our chances when we were on top in the second half it could have been different.

Yeah not bothered about Tuesday and assume a lot of the youths will get a game again, possibly Loft and maybe a few minutes into the likes of Balmer and Walters.

Yeah the players looked like the shackles were off and expressed themselves which is something we’ve not done for some time.

Football is cruel and despite what Bonner has done for us, I felt the timing was right. Only time will tell but I have always said this squad is not playing to their full ability’s and seeing how we destroyed another relegation rival yesterday we should be looking up rather than down if we get the appointment right.

I was told Danny Cowley last week but now I hear we are trying for Nathan Jones. Whoever it is I don’t think anything will happen until after Charlton next Saturday.

Our game is ON up in snowy Derbyshire. Good. Much better going out on a weekend rather than a Tuesday night.

Maidstone away if we get through. I’m thinking now it might be worth us going all out in the replay.

Mind you I think they play on one of those plastic pitch monstrosities. Just what we need with a squad that keeps picking up injuries.

Good chance for round 4 all be it we’ve been around the block in this enough times not to take that for granted but possible TV coverage.

And of course the script is written with Mad Cov in goal!
