So, the early rounds of the FA Trophy have been drawn. For those of us not quite in the elite group of tin pottery, we have to start in the qualifying rounds.

Kingstonian have been drawn away to Surrey buddies Leatherhead in the First Qualifying Round.

We're in this group of tin pottery having moved on from the Vase. In our first tie we coincidentally meet Basford United, who we had a fantastic cup match against at out place a few seasons back. Hopefully this one will be just as entertaining, I'd definitely take another 5-3! We're at home again. This is the preliminary round for us.

Winners host Grantham in the first qualifying.

One and out.

By all accounts a patched-up Diamonds side (with only one recognised CB) outplayed by Basford, losing 3-1 in the end. Thus ends the run of 31 or 32 games unbeaten (depending on if Tuesdays result stands...)

Kingstonian are away at Leatherhead for this qualifying round... we've only just had a goalless draw there during the week so it's anybodies game. We've been notoriously shit in national cup competitions for a long time now so I won't be disappointed if we lose.

Darlo at home to Mossley today. It's a game I'd really expect us to win even with 3 regular starters out through suspension. Really hope we can push on a few rounds through the cup after our bad FA Cup showing. Could really help boost our back to darlo coffers with a bit of prize and gate money which will not have been budgeted for.

Well, a 3-2 victory over Mossley sees us progress. Goals from Adam Nowakowski, Lewis Walton and Nathan Cartman. Glad to get through with a makeshift team - 5 players out injured and 3 suspended. Hoping to get through to meet one of the big boys, for nostalgic as well as financial reasons. Long way to go though.

Yeah baby, gonna fucking reclaim this trophy after about 15 years!!!

Ok, that's excessively enthusiastic but hey, we've emphatically won a cup match which is an achievement in itself these days. Good stuff Ks.

Nantwich beat Salford at home on Friday in this 2-1, decent crowd of 550 as well for a night game.

For me we try and win every competition we are involved with.
Play the likes of White, Sharp, Fowler, the lads who haven't really played so far, if we win we progress and take the money while they get fitness but I wouldn't risk the key players ala Gray, Vidal, Vose, Jennings in a competition that results in not much reward

Very happy with the results in the Trophy... the next potential clash of schedules due to a Trophy tie for us would be if Royston made it to the semi-final in March. Our season will not be interfered with anymore due to this one!

Also Kettering get a chance at losing to a team from a division below them again. Which would be fun!

Dorchester Town away... That's us done then. Can't remember the last time we managed to beat a Southern League side either home or away... those pesky parallel league sides seem to always have our number.

Having said that this is the season where nothing expected seems to end up happening so who knows...

Funny that because we've played opposition from both leagues this season (Biggleswade and Bognor), yet Bognor were far superior in every area of their game.

Bideford and Merthyr to progress through please, I fancy one of them away. Dare I say it Dorchester would be decent too.

I think it's just our style of play suits the Isthmian more so then when we play Southern League sides.

As a former resident of the North Devon outpost that is Bideford I'd like to see them do well also. Would be nice to go through & draw them away, since some of my family still live there that's accommodation sorted!

Wouldn't you only be able to draw Merthyr at round 1 as the final qualifier is a north/south split?

Well given K's have been drawn at Dorchester and Merthyr have been drawn at Hastings, I imagine we'd fit into this South and West region as well? All irrelevant when we're drawn at home to Concord Rangers anyway.

I want a decent away day. Not even checked who's in it still, but another Needham Market type away day would be great.

No, I want Merthyr away! It's only about 25-30 minutes for me to get there

2-all tie at Dorchester in the FA Trophy. We managed to score two own goals (one at the start of the game & one at the end) which is a bit frustrating but on the plus side this is the first time we've managed to not lose to a Southern League side... There's still the replay though.

How regionalised is the next round? I'll take someone away up in the midlands if possible.

North/South but all of the teams in the Midlands will be in the Northern section.

Desperate for a home draw against someone not in our league tomorrow. Thanks.

Be nice to have a local derby for once too.
