Think the club told them we took over 1000 to York and they've filled their trousers! 500 tickets will be more than enough. Replay on the Tuesday. Moved to Sunday cos Barnsley at home on Saturday.

Alfreton 4-1 Gainsborough

A poor game between two terrible sides played on a cold evening in front of a pathetic crowd BUT on the plus side its £4.000 in the kitty and we are through to the next round.

We looked lethargic, toothless and uninterested throughout. Summed up by the manner of the Gainsborough goal where an awful backpass from nyoni was punished by Thewils.Hard to believe from the outside given the amount we have scored but we really do look short of ideas up front. Its unbelievable how we have put in two dog shit performances at home in the last two games but have won both and scored 7 in the process. Then sometimes you can play a team off the park and lose. Thats football I guess!

Craig Westcarr got us a barely deserved leveller last night when his free kick went in off the back of Willis after coming back of the bar. Gainsborough's heads visibly went down after that and we ran out comfortable winners in the end.

finished 0-3... bit of a shock there
so we got another game on a plastic pitch ffs - but at least the game should be on :)
can see us resting the odd player - we'll probably bring in Ross Hannah for Bennett as we did at Sutton.
We will want to keep the unbeaten run going though so not too many changes.

Beat Stafford Rangers by the only goal of a very poor game scored just on the stroke of half time. Scrappy affair, only 466 in attendance, anyway on to Guiseley at home in next round and we do owe them one for the play off final a couple of years ago, however we will need to play considerably better than tonight.

Alty 2 Blyth 2. Entertaining enough, if low on quality. A weakened side out tonight, even by this season's standards. 276 in attendance, and I reckon Jim Harvey's sacking brought in a few of those, for the curiosity value alone.

So, a replay in Newcastle on Saturday, meaning Macc get a day off while they wait for the tie to be decided. Grim times indeed.

Glad Witton got through, nice little Cheshire Derby for us now.

Should be a bumper gate there on Saturday as we'll take loads so they should make a few bob from it, we've always had a good relationship with them.

Hope this doesn't mean the Tranmere game will get called off if we end playing our trophy game that weekend instead!
Really looking forward to the Tranmere game too!

Shaw Lane kicked out of the FA Trophy so we're playing Nantwich.

The FA have provisionally put the game as this Tuesday, 13th, subject to any appeal but both Clubs have requested it to be put back to the 20th.

So does this mean our game is likely to be played on the Saturday then?

Yep, and we want to play the league game. There was never a question of that, it was just waiting to see what date the FA came up with and it seems it'll end up being a Tuesday game.

EDIT - Well, I'm saying it'll be on but it's still up in the air a bit. The fact they suggested a Tuesday game initially is probably slightly encouraging.

Shaw Lane are appealing by the sounds of it, so Tuesday probably won't go ahead (Nantwich have a game anyway I think). So we're still non the wiser whether we'll be playing on Saturday or the following Tuesday. The logical step would probably be for us just to play our first round tie on 2nd round day with our 2nd round tie on 2nd round replay day.

http://www.shawlaneafc.com/news/club-statement-1731662.html

To cut a long story short, the ineligible player wasn't registered properly at his old Club, therefore creating two profiles within the FA's disciplinary system (a wrong DOB and using two difference names - Alex and Alexander). Shaw Lane told the FA about it when they found out via the player that he'd accrued 5 yellows and not 4 as they thought (4 with Shaw Lane and 1 with his previous Club - but obviously wasn't showing because he was down as a different name with his old Club).

Still following? Well, the player sat out a game at the FA's request, and when they merged the two profiles within their disciplinary system, then tried to get him to serve another one game ban i.e. 2 matches for 5 yellows, with the second game being the Nantwich game, which they won.

Or at least that's how it reads!

I'd just make them replay the match on a neutral ground with the winner having to be decided on the day, with the secondary condition that the player in question can't play the game. Have that game next Tuesday (20th Dec), then as you suggested the Lincoln v Winners match on Round 2 day and Round 2 on Round 2 replay day.

What a farce. 6 days to the weekend and Tranmere fans don't know whether to make travel plans or not.

Why can't there just be a statement that this weekend's game will go ahead as planned, and the Trophy game will fit around it? As it is, it's just uncertainty for all. I know Lincoln have a vested interest in delaying the Tranmere game, but this is just ridiculous.

So it's the FA who were being tinpot, not Shaw Lane?
Seems like they're in need of a good data cleanser!

Not sure what our vested interest is. We have a fully fit squad (well, bar long term injured Beevers), just Raggett suspended but Howe can play so we'll not be relying on McCombe.

Tranmere on a Saturday or midweek is a no brainer. We've already lost decent gates in Wrexham and York to Tuesday games this season and we certainly don't want to be playing in front of 84 people at Shaw Lane instead of potentially 6k at SB in a top of the table clash.

We've made it quite clear that we don't want the Tranmere game moved and would prefer it to be played on the 20th or 2nd round day. I'm not sure Nantwich or Shaw Lane will appreciate only have 3 or 4 days to organise everything surrounding a game that will have to be policed, catered etc as a proper football game.

Princes Park worse than I remember it. No atmosphere from the home end whatsoever in what they were bigging up as a huge derby on their forum. Used to be big when we played Dartford but they didn't seem interested. Huge overreaction from the stewards and police when a couple of smoke bombs went off in our end, not really sure what the problem was apart from the tinpottedness of taking pyro to an FA Trophy game.

Draw probably a fair result, but we could've done without the extra fixture. We were atrocious second half. Stevenson is absolutely dire.

"When he gets the ball, he does f*** all, we've got Jim Stevenson" lol

Yes, but you'd still rather be at full strength defensively for this one, surely?

Also, your website can't decide whether he's 5'11" or 6'5". What's 6 inches between friends, anyway?

Anyway, here's to hoping it goes ahead, should be an interesting contest (despite me being REALLY nervous!).

About the only comfort to take from yesterday was you ended up with a replay too so no advantage there for either of us next Sat.

Yep, Dartford fans are pretty poor tbh.

Draw for us too, 1-1 at home to Woking with a late goal from Dave Winfield. Shocking game. I went to the pub after 75 minutes.

Could do without going to Woking on Tuesday to be totally honest.

The player profiles are done via the company who run the website, not us, but he's definitely closer to 6'5"!.

I'd rather play without Raggett than I would without Rhead, Woodyard or Arnold. Our defensive record is only 'ok' anyway. It's going forward that generally wins us points (bar Wrexham as a recent example).

Revenge needed for when Kidderminster beat us last season for their first league win since 1992. Providing we beat Ebbsfleet, of course.

Good grief, if we beat Dartford at home we are rewarded with Chelmsford at home. Are we back in the Conference South? Dull.

Although looking at the draw there's absolutely nothing to get excited about. New ground would've been nice though

Ah Jordan Murphy in the 87th minute. Not many good memories from last season but that was one of them. Honestly hope you win. Would like to see how our team fairs against a Conference team.
