Every single team in this league (including Northampton and Swindon) have benefitted from our situation this year with 6 easy points being offered to them, there's not much to complain about really when Northampton had a chance to beat us 7-0 too but failed.

To be fair though haven't seen any complaints from the Northampton fans on this forum, they've been sound
Yeah they have tbf, as they have all season.

Wishing you all the best next season and thought your fans were a credit to you today. Couldn’t hear but they were standing and clapping for most of the game - those there were the proper supporters.

What’s the aim for you lot now? Hope for a takeover, some stability and rebuild?

According to Northampton & Swindon forums it’s a complete fix and we should be docked points
And the Aldershot fan on the other forum is kicking off.

So if* we play there next year and we go 2-0 up just sing Sporting Integrity over and over.

* if we don’t go bust or they do.

We need a takeover or we will most likely be entering administration before next season. Rumours are we've had a few offers but our owner has rejected them for various reasons.

I just want to not go into every game knowing we are going to lose, that would be nice.

Well so pleased we got there in the end! We were so close to t£#+-&-up.

Pleased for the players more than anything, a great achievement with such a small squad.

The big story belonging to Bristol Rovers, what a performance! just Incredible. Very well done to them. Some sort of celebration for them tonight!
Aaron Collins is already getting on it :bg:

It was unfortunate for Northampton that Scunthorpe had such an inexperienced side out in Bristol. We played them a week ago and it was the youngest opposition eleven Hartlepool had faced in a Football League match, certainly since WW2, perhaps ever. (We couldn't beat them of course, dogshit that we are). But I don't think anyone would accuse them of lacking effort, just quality and experience.

I can't be pleased for Barton, and I wish Rovers had earned their promotion with a less contemptible person at the helm, but I'm pleased for the many friendly Gasheads I've met over the last couple of decades as a very regular visitor to Bristol (I was there again last weekend, with the prospect of watching bands far more appealing than our match at Scunthorpe). Congrats and good luck.

It’s nowt to do with sporting integrity just that the team are utter dogshit. It doesn’t present a good look that it ended up 7-0 at all but good luck to them players trying to get a job elsewhere after that.

Their 18yo LB who was making his debut (and scored the OG) looked terrified.

Mansfield beat them 4-0 last month when they fielded a load of teenagers but nothing was said....

Most of the players starting were making their 4th or 5th professional start and a few were on loan at Northern Premier teams two months ago. 5 of the players that started signed professional deals this year, none of them are going to be looking for new clubs anytime soon.

Taking in saddlers v Swindon today as league 1 has already finished, thank fuck.
Looking forward to this. Will be in the lower tier behind the goal, so if Walsall score a last minute goal I will do what they do most weeks at the bescot and invade the pitch. Should be a good atmosphere today - weather is good, large away following and a team with good home form.
Can see there been plenty of goals in this one.
Unfortunately for you young man they were all at your end

Thanks, was at the game and thought you had some good chances and were unlucky not to stick them away.

To be fair I thought you were half decent in the first half but lacked any punch up front whilst we were clinical. The goal on the stroke of half time, as in the league game at the CG, killed the game for you. The job was done at HT and the 2nd was just a case of preserving energy, keeping the clean sheet and avoiding injuries, all of which we have appeared to have done. I'd say that on the back of 4 consecutive wins that we are the form team going into the PO's

We've also scored 10 goals in our last 3 away games so are firing at the moment

Orient Tranmere was largely irrelevant, the updates from Bristol were far more entertaining. Congrats to the Gas, commiserations to Northampton and any Scunthorpe fan who made it through that game deserves a medal.

For what it's worth, Orient offered little and squandered whatever they did carve out and we offered even less but scored with the one decent move we did string together. The penalty/non-penalty was a bizarre bit of officiating all round. Based on Mellon's reaction at the end of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not here in August - looked absolutely devastated and that's surely not concerning the mathematical improbability that was today's results going in our favour. The last two years (with Dundee and then ourselves again) haven't exactly enhanced his reputation as a manger and if he does leave, our complaints of negative football and lacking any sort of plan B echo those from Dundee fans. Setting up with a positive mindset away from home would surely have seen us in the autos, but not to be.

Don’t really know what our lot are moaning about - hardly anyone wanted Rovers in the POs anyway. The hype and hassle surrounding that would have been shite. Some proper shit Sky scheduling has fucked up the POs for a lot of fans. Midday KO at our place - wtf!

Glad we’re away in the second leg. Just need to keep it tight at home. Don’t really know how the away allocations will turn out. I’d expect Vale just to have the open Bank - 2,100 - with a similar allocation given to us. No point in the clubs getting shitty about it.

We’ll never know.

How are you going to get along next season when you have to replace the loan players that got you over the line?

Got a whole summer to sort that out. Barton can spot a player. Enjoy the pray offs

Barton has shown complete contempt for L2 and the clubs in it banging on about how much bigger Gas are than everyone else and its everyone's big day out. We all know that no fucker bats an eyelid seeing them at this level so they can take their attitude back up with them to a lower half L1 finish as far as I'm concerned. No problem with the fans and congrats to them but he's such a c*** isn't he?

A very fair point, a long summer to go though. Nearly all of our best players are out of contract as well so it could be a completely different squad.

I do trust Barton to find quality players though, most of his signings worked out well and he clearly has connections up there leagues which is exceptionally helpful - something DC struggled with tbh

Shocking again today,a lap of honor after the game, what a piss take.
The lot of them can piss off as far as I'm concerned & what have we done to deserve having Omar Bogle foisted on us for 2 more seasons.
Utter lazy twat.
How was the lap of honour received?

Can't comment on the last two games as I didn't bother but Bogle is a tricky one for me. Some games he's awful and others he's caused problems. He's not a target man in any way which is how we're trying to use him. Much better ball to feet. Personally I won't write him off just yet, he needs better quality and a better system around him.

Carver on the otherhand though

I walked out on the final whistle cos I didn't have it in me to applaud after that performance, but spoke to others who stayed and they said it was well received and rightfully so, it's been a tough season all round, with hopefully lessons learned by a lot of people at the club.

I like Bogle and still think he's gonna be an asset for us, he's never gonna be a ball chaser, I think some Pools fans just wanna watch a Luke James type who chases balls like a dog for 90 minutes and ultimately does nothing, he should be the focal point of the attack, he wins balls, holds it up and has clever feet but there's often never a Pools shirt within 40 yards of him, but if we're being fair he was hopeless yesterday, his performance was summed up with his final chance of the game, a header from the penalty spot, which somehow ended up going away from goal, he got pulled almost immediately after.

Carver just seems like he has no confidence, played in on goal yesterday, it was a tight angle to be fair, but he blasts it with his right at the keeper, instead of maybe using his left and slotting it.

FGR are a good side and worthy champions, I thought our defending for those goals was embarrassing and I’m surprised we managed to score in the second half.

Bizarre seeing a team celebrate winning a title with only 400 of them in the away end too, but they enjoyed it.

Anyway as for the match. I thought Bradford were better in the first half and deserved their lead, although we missed a sitter.

Second half I thought we started on top. Then a big moment, Dennis was brought down in the box. I was right at the side so bang in line with it and it looked a stone wall penalty. The referee saw it, but shat himself and waved it away. Bradford go straight down the other end… 2-0. Big moment that decided the game really.

Bradford did deserve the win, but we weren’t helped at all by a really poor weak referee. It’s becoming a regular theme in League2 for and against us. Thankfully there was nothing riding on the game.

I’d have to watch it back as often live eyes can be deceptive, but everyone around me was convinced Dennis kicked the back of our players leg and went down he was certainly looking for it as you could see him from the kop angling his body towards our player before getting touched.

We almost had Dennis signed a few year ago, on yesterday’s display we dodged a bullet one of the least effective strikers I’ve seen against our patched up defence. Patrick has caused us problems in the past when playing on the left for you, he was to central yesterday imo and kept naturally drifting wide leaving you short in the box.
