As far as I could tell the guy doing the fixtures tends to just reverse last years where possible. So?
Grimsby v ?
Altrincham v Aldershot
Woking v ?
? v Chester
Wrexham v ?
Halifax v Dover
Torquay v Gateshead
Kidderminster v Lincoln
Braintree v Macclesfield
Eastleigh v ?
Forest Green v Southport
? v Welling

Do you think this is likely and how do you think l the new teams slot in?

I don't know how the fixtures work in the National League, but if that is accurate then there are 3 potential games there that, in an ideal world, would be better placed once we have 'bedded in'. To go to Grimsby or Wrexham on the opening day wouldn't be ideal, although maybe they would be trying to gel too? Home to Chester would also be a game that would create a bit of buzz, but I personally would be apprehensive of playing local derbies whilst we are still acclimatising.

Out of those, Welling at home. However, to be honest a home tie would be the most important thing, regardless of who it is.

Don't BT usually have a game on the Friday evening, with all the remaining opening day fixtures taking place on the Saturday?

If that is the case, if they had any influence over the fixture scheduling, I could quite easily see either Tranmere or Cheltenham featuring in that game. Grimsby versus Tranmere, or maybe Eastleigh versus Cheltenham, might fit the bill perfectly with teams who missed out in the play-offs against a relegated team.

We'll play Lincoln or Gateshead. Seems to be one of those each year

We have gone away, home, away, home, away, so on that logic we will be at home this year I guess!

I'm hoping for an away game not at one of the local clubs first game of the season as I'm in Edinburgh for a stag do. Away at Eastleigh or FGR would be nice.

I don't think they reverse the fixtures each year, the only pattern I've noticed is alternating the home/away, meaning that we should be at home first this year, followed by an away on the Tuesday Night. The fact that 4 of the 6 were away last year suggests you're more likely to be at home 1884 Belmont .

Not sure about that. During our 4 year stay we were away 3 times on opening day (all home teams went on to be relegated) and at home once (Woking last season)

So not that sure that theory rings true.

2 of our first 4 games were direct reversals of the previous season with one of the other ones a swap of a relegated team. Must admit I didnt look at other teams, it was just the impression I got from ours

I know the fixtures are due to be announced around July 3rd, does anyone know what weekend the first matches are scheduled for?

We've had Barnet away and home the past 2 seasons and on both occasions we were robbed. Only joking you Bees. Could really do with a winnable game, say Guisley at home.

That was the original date. But the Football conference then announced a few days later it was to be the 3rd.

Didn't the Conference announce it would be 'no later than the 3rd' not being specific with the date?

Yes they did.

Last Friday they announced "7 days until the fixtures for the first National League will be released" so still on course for it to be the third

Last season our first away game of the season was Gateshead... what's the betting this season it'll be Barrow!

On the plus side, it does get a long distance game out of the way early... better that than in the deep dark depths of winter.... f*ck me, it's bad enough travelling anywhere up north when the sun is shining.

I was going for either you or DarkSithLord to go for that one. We have a winner!

:fish::woo:
I did wonder to be honest with the post 2 or 3 above it saying the exact time and date, but i thought maybe you were just being thick!
Anyway, i'm never one to disappoint.... ;) ;)
