Probably our biggest home league game for 30 years? Sold out (albeit a depressingly low number, we've lost about 2500 in 20 years with no redevelopment), big away support from a local team we probably won't play much more in the next 30 years, should be good though I fear they may blow us away if we can't get our shit together in the first 20 minutes as has been the case in much of the last month.

Note to Ipswich fans, if you could not takeover my pre-natch watering hole that'd be great, there's tonnes of good pubs in Cambridge you don't need to drink in my shithole. :bg:

30yrs is extreme to me but there’s no denying it’s a big game especially with the locality and knowing quite a few Ipswich fans.
The capacity is pretty shocking nowadays but with no development and h/s these days we shouldn’t be surprised.

On the pitch I’m hopeful we’ll be competitive which we have been in every game but I wouldn’t be surprised if Ipswich’s quality came through in the end, they should be pissing this lge really and it’s a pretty shocking start for them. would be nice to get one on over cook though after his antics in previous visits.

We need to bounce back from a defeat that really shouldn't have happened. Form guide says we should win but we all know the fickle finger of form guides.

If we are serious about getting promoted this year we can't let a gap appear between us and the other clubs at the top and games like this are a must win.

Oh and Fleetwood/Crewe isn't really 212/5 for a draw is it? I might have to risk a few quid on that. :gr:

3 out of the next 4 are home for us. Charlton on Saturday, followed by Wimbledon and Shrewsbury before end of the month.

I fully expect Charlton to pick up, but its prime time to be improving our home form. No offense intended for any of the teams mentioned, but if we want to stay in this division, its games we have to be picking up wins in.

Dont know what to expect saturday. I know we had a number of players injuried but have not heard any updates.

Ominously Ipswich seem to have picked up a bit of form of late, but perceived wisdom is that they've struggled to break teams down if they sit in and may not have the guts for a full on scrap.

So maybe some hope in that - we'll presumably set up as we did vs. Bolton - let them have the ball and see if they can break us down, whilst hitting them quick on the counter.

The atmosphere should be tasty. Maybe getting Digby to put an old school reducer in on one of theirs straight from kick off is a plan - see how much they fancy it!

It'll be a great occasion if nothing else. Followed up with a Tuesday game at the Abbey with Wednesday. Makes the dark days at Stafford Rangers, Histon, Alfreton etc. seem a lifetime ago.

Away to the Millers. Really tough game but hoping we're still riding high on the elation of putting four unanswered goals past Sunderland last Saturday.

Finally having a settled team in a formation that suits us has made a big difference. It would be great if John Marquis has finally found his goal touch again after scoring twice and assisting one last time out.

Having said all that I'll happily take a point here.

Wycombe at home, always a difficult game. We should have Taylor and miraculously John back from injury so virtually a fully fit squad for the first time, I expect a defeat but I’m hoping for a point and more improvement

That must be a rarity. The only odds-on home team are facing the league leaders. :ohm:

Best thing that can happen to us is that people underestimate us. The worse thing is that they talk us up. That said will be a tough game.

Should be a good one. Nice to have an away day within an hour away. Could have sold this one out 3 times over. I’d imagine I’ll be very tight and edgy with a goal in it either way. Should be one we’re looking to win with some tougher games on the horizon. We’ve scored in every game so far but the problem has been conceding soft goals. We got bullied by Accy so reckon you’ll want to get in our faces. Our front 4 of our 4231 will be made up of Bonne, Chaplin, Celina, Edwards, Burns or Fraser. Some serious fire power but the worry is at the back and the GK. How’s Lankester been?

Is there a usual away pub? Some great pubs in the city

Lankester joined us injured and has been getting up to speed, he's played some minutes recently and will be in the reckoning for a start - it'll be him or Tracey for the right wing I reckon. Tractor boys will be delighted to know a certain Wesley Hoolahan should start.

As a guess:
Mitov
Williams, Jones, Masterson, Iredale
Digby, O'Neil
Tracey, Hoolahan, Brophy
Ironside

Not sure there is actually? I always suggest away fans either do a pub crawl from the station via Mill Road area or pick some of the pubs in town and get an Uber to the ground.

Is that Paul Digby? God they were the dark days under McCarthy. Remember seeing him getting torn to shreds at Huddersfield away in 2017. Pretty hard game to call, both sides have been unpredictable to say the least

Will be a tough game but I think that price is a little harsh on us. Saying that I’d take a point.

Yes Paul Digby our vice captain. Been absolutely superb for us and expect him to have a big game Saturday. He's on 4 yellows and expect it to be 5 after Saturday.

Definitely not what we need, our home form under Appleton has been stinking - it's actually getting quite embarrassing.

Will be interesting to see who, if any, makes a return after a 10 day break.

Having said all that I'll happily take a point here.

Our local press is reporting that Ronan Curtis will be serving a 1 match ban for this game so that's welcome news for us.

We have 3 players coming back from international duty so we will be sweating on them coming back fit and well.

Our home form has been patchy so far so any result is possible but if we are to stake any sort of claim for promotion we need at least 4 points from this game and next Tuesday's at home to Wycombe.

Grigg has scored in all his last 3 games and is forming a useful partnership with Michael Smith.
Lindsay is out for 6 weeks so that's a blow but we still have Wiles, Rathbone, Barlaser so will be competitive in midfield.
Wingbacks are likely to be Ogbene and Ferguson or Miller/Sadlier if one or both come back tired or injured.

Harding, who was our best player last season is struggling to get in the team due to the form of Edmonds Green, who looks a good prospect for his parent club, Huddersfield.

Should be a good game but we need to keep an eye on Raggett at corners, he always looked a threat when he played for us.

No idea what to expect from Wimbledon. What are the general thoughts on them this year?

Started well but gone off the boil in the last few weeks and not creating the chances we did, while remaining extremely vulnerable in defence. You'll score at least one, no question. It's whether we can rediscover our creativity at the other end. Youngest side in all the divisions so lots of energy who try to keep it on the deck, though lately have reverted a bit more to pumping long and ineffectively from the back when they can't break down the midfield. Got important injuries at both ends of the pitch at the moment so I'd be more than happy with a point.

Accrington at home for us.

We really need a positive result after losing 3 in a row now. Annoyingly, my sister is getting married so I can't make the game.

Sounds like there’s some similarities to us there. As I’ve said before on here we’re still yet to really play well, barring the odd half here and there. We can’t seem to get around teams that press well, it just ends up with a long ball forward and not sticking.

Doesn’t sound like it’ll be a classic but I’d take a scrappy 0-1 just to try and get a bit of form going.

Fleetwood away, they seem to score plenty of goals whilst also letting them in like a sieve at the other end. Only a couple of places and points above us so a good opportunity to try and gain some ground on teams around us. Since September we have improved we just don't win enough. Only 1 defeat in 8, but far too many draws including 3 1-1 draws in our last 3caway games.

The wedding itself is at 2, so we'll be at the reception for 3. It's not an overly formal thing either - basically a glorified disco - so it'll be easy to follow the game. Just annoying I won't be at the ground.
