Scunny will never have a better chance of winning than against our spineless shower of rubbish.

Our best player, Levi Sutton, the only one with an ounce of fight in him last night, apart from perhaps Songo'o, is a Scunny reject, enough said

It's hard to feel anything but pessimistic going into another away when your record reads 1-1-7 on the road, it's been said to death but we need a manager in before this match, ideally today, Tony Sweeney is trying his best as interim but is being hung out to dry by the board.

Hopefully a swift recovery and we get back to winning / not losing ways. I'm going for a solid and comfortable 2-0 win. I predict I will be getting the best fish and chips in the world next to Spotland.

Coming off the back of last nights horror show I’m really hoping there will be a response. No point panicking but with the players we have available right now I do wonder if a switch to 4-4-2 might be the way to go for this game. It’s not something I typically advocate but there’s no doubting the one time we did have any sort of foothold last night was when we did that.

Probably look at getting in Brad Walker at least to add some size and strength to our midfield.

They obviously have not been great away but that’s pretty meaningless in terms of how this game plays out. In theory a game against a team with no manager should be a good opportunity but we’ll see how it goes.

Missing our game at home to Harrogate as having to collect the in-laws from East Midlands Airport. Probably for the best as I have a feeling we'll be back to our home form worst against Harrogate. Another team we've never played to tick off, guess that's them all as I think it was only Sutton and Harrogate we had left.

Derek Adams to set up 5-4-1 with 11 men behind the ball again and hope for a point.

Really need to bounce back. Another long trip and a few tired looking bodies. Podge did well when he came on but I suspect we will persist with Nombe as you can't argue with his record (and he had one wrongly chalked off last night).
No idea of Rochdale's style but they always used to play good football which will suit us.
Hopefully a clean sheet and a 2 nil win.

Port Vale couldn't dream of an easier game to bounce back.

We are knackered, physically weak as piss and can't score goals. We don't have a manager, the interim having a veiled dig at the owner in his post match comments last night, it's not a happy camp.

We badly need someone in but its unlikely. We should get absolutely stuffed and if Vale don't do that then they might as well pack it in for the season.

Bit OTT based on what I saw last night. Nowhere near the worst side I’ve seen this season.

As for Saturday and Harrogate, it’ll be more of the same for us I’m afraid. Neat and tidy, dull as fuck in the first half, bit more pace and determination in the second half and it’s a coin as to whether we can score more than we can gift Harrogate by being caught on the break and/or our midfield going absent defensively.

We are completely unable to dictate the pace at home - pedestrian - and with most teams sitting back it’s a pretty dull watch.

Does appear your owner seems to be dragging his feet on an appointment for whatever reason. Suppose the good news is that you have a decent enough cushion over the clubs down the bottom anyway and a season consolidating would be a job well done but don’t want to sail too close to the wind.

Be good to welcome Cullen back to VP anyway. Served us well in his couple of years at Vale when he was fit at least. We haven’t played each other for quite a while but we’ve got enough ex Pools players in our squad to have some insight on how to go about it I hope.

Must win to get back on track with a daunting December to follow, last night was probably the worst collective performance since Aspin, certainly at home and rightly they've been hauled in on their day off today and got absolutely roasted.

Any lack of reaction after that would really start alarm bells ringing. How we've gone from the football we were playing and goals scoring two weeks ago to that dross is anyone's guess.

Problem is Hartlepool come and bully us we probably just wont fancy it... Bradford did it, Oldham the last 15 did it and Walsall did it, too predictable.

In the after emotion of it I would make mass changes, obviously Conlon being banned is a further blow but he was god awful last night and has been for a couple of games now.

Maybe go back to basics? Hard to justify keeping Cass and Jones in after that and Politic didn't raise a case so maybe 4-3-3 even (although probably needs Proctor fit to have that focal point).

Benning - Smith - Legge - Gibbons

Walker Pett Taylor

Worrall Proctor Amoo

Give me a day or two to calm down from the anger of that shameful effort and I'll probably stick to similar and make them put it right.

Can’t see Pools bullying you. There was no sign of any rough stuff last night. They were intent on passing out from the back - with a few scary moments just like us.

We're soft as shite, no physicality in this team at all, we'll come and play neat passing football, we generally look good with the ball in the build up but lack any sort of clinical finishing.

Probably suits us but also wary of our terrible league record against Hartlepool since 2000!

(Oddly the polar opposite to our strange cup one!)

That’s a little skewed by the fact we haven’t played them in a league game for 12 years to be fair. They probably had DC lining up as a player against us at that time.

Four nil should be enough to get Barton the sack he so richly deserves, we're in the form and have the players available to deliver it but like everyone else only lower league levels of consistency and can lose to anyone.

True. Oddly the only point we got from them sent them down!

We have racked up 16 goals in 3 cup meetings which is an odd one! but recall some real shit performances against these. The horror show in the snow and blowing a 2 goal lead in the relegation season stand out!

Away Northampton for us - never seen a more obvious draw in my life.
Knowing the Orient we'll go 3 up and draw, every away game we get a foothold, go ahead and then fold as we approach the final whistle.
I think we're a good team, top-5 on paper perhaps, but our inability to finish sides off is going to haunt us come the end of the season.
By my count we've been ahead and playing better only to draw against Newport, Rochdale, and Scunthorpe, deserved to beat Mansfield (and probably Walsall), and were unlucky to lose at vale being 1 up heading into injury time.
I'm sure a lot of fans feel the same way about their results, but it's a definite trend for us this year. We've not won any games where we didn't deserve to (albeit a bit lucky to play Exeter when they were hit with Covid), and have drawn many games where we were clearly the better side. Ah well.

Was hoping to see a continuation of the traditional Vale capitulation, but home to H'Pool is about as easy a fixture as you could possibly ask for (no offense M'Hangers), so that's a shame.

That 3-2 win against you has really messed with you hasn’t it? And by the way by traditional Vale capitulation you mean just last season.

That was ages ago I'm well over that - just keen to see a promotion contender continue their recent run of poor form.

4 defeats in a row, lost 7 of our 9 aways. As Chief said we might play some nice football at times but we are a jenga set under a hint of pressure, can't take chances and generally get no rub of the green. Not much to be positive about. Get this game out the way and get someone in as we have lost our way.

Surprised that you think this. I thought that you played pretty well yesterday especially in the second half. Impressed with Cullen as I thought he led the line well

Jeez mate, that sounds very pessimistic. You were about last season? Now that was dull. We're winning and when it boils down to it that what matters

That's good news. We like to play against teams who try and play it out from the back and aren't overly physical. If we play to our best then we will win. We'll miss our two most technically gifted players in Wilson and Conlon though. I'm a bit concerned about where the quality is going to come from.

Lose this and I feel we will spiral in a tough December fixture list.

It's the only thing we can do. We have no one who can hold it up to go long.

In the Conference we'd piss all over teams doing this as they didn't have the nous, fitness or discipline to relentlessly press us. I'm almost getting through 6 pairs of boxers a game seeing our closed down short goal kicks and fannying about around the back line.
