Just wondered if any fans who slagged off Chesterfield for their use of the furlough system would like to apologise before I name their clubs for doing exactly the same thing.

HMRC have released the names and company registration numbers of those that furloughed staff and players.

I ask again, anyone want to get their apologies in before I show them up to be the hypocrites they are?

In unrelated news I didnt know that the holding company of Stockport County FC was Stockport County 2010 LTD (reg number 07254012). I also didnt know about the other companies they held under the Umbrella Stockport County.

While were at it lets have a quick chortle at Mansfield Town Football Club LTD (reg 00181839) who between Dec 2020 and July 2021 claimed somewhere between £300K and £600k in furlough payments.

Chesterfield FC in that same period claimed nada. Furloughfield indeed.

Hang on, I think the thing was furloughing *players* whilst bringing more in wasn’t it?

Not just clubs who furloughed general staff members, which was absolutely understandable.
The whole thing is bollocks anyway, this faux outrage, the system was there to be used and if anyone didn't use it out of some mis-placed sense of.. honour, I guess, then that's their lookout, but it definitely has a 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' feel about it. It was always totally obvious to me that every club was using the scheme, you'd be stupid not to. The only thing that would really separate one from the other is how much in pounds and pence you actually claimed, and for how long, not what you spent the money on. But as I say I've always said it's a bit daft this pretending to give a monkeys about it

Boris told you not to mix house holds or visit sick family in hospital. Meanwhile it was party central at number 10. There was no rule saying we couldn't bring in new players. Footballs a business and we followed the rules. It's paid off, currently sat at the top of the league and managed to bag a decent next round in the FA cup. I know it's hurting a lot of our rivals but hey who gives a f##k. Got to give it to the scabs in league 2 though calling us cheats. Have they forgot about their match fixing days.

Basically we were the only club who had the cojones to admit to using it then.

This. I suspect every football club used it for matchday staff, that’s basically exactly what it was there for.

I’m not even bothered about clubs who used it to furlough some players and cut costs to keep themselves going at a difficult time. Whether you think it was right or wrong, the specific issue at Chesterfield was that they were simultaneously furloughing players who were injured or not in the manager’s plans while signing lots of new ones. Not using the furlough scheme at all.

Gillingham Football Club LTD (Company Reg 00039175) claimed in a 6 month period somewhere between 300 and 600k. Now bear in mind these figures are for a short period where HMRC is making this data available (Dec 2020 - Jul 21) the actual total amount claimed must be six figures plus.

Do you really believe this amount of money only went on "non playing staff"? Even if that was the case, do you think its right and moral to castigate other teams considering the huge amounts of taxpayer money propping up shit clubs like Gillingham despite other revenue streams being made available? Especially when its very likely they claimed a fraction of what Gillingham did.

Thanks for playing.

Who's next?

Gillingham, that famous national league team. Stick to the right league at least.

Challenge accepted.

Dagenham & Redbridge FC 2017 LTD (Company reg 10755779) claimed between £113K and £225k for a 6 month period from December 2020 onwards.

Chesterfield FC claimed nothing during the same period and since both teams had the same revenue streams and extra funding available to them how do you explain this discrepancy?

Wrexham AFC Limited (reg no 07698872) claimed a maximum of 75k of tax payer money over a 6 month period from December 2020.

I don't remember the Hollywood millionaires shouting that from the rooftops in some kind of convoluted PR stunt.

Don’t cry fella, can you mention how much furloughfield claimed as you’ve not mentioned it yet.

All our non-football playing staff were furloughed and the club house which is in effect a full time pub was made to close and all staff furloughed. I know of two players that were furloughed in that time and mentioned it on here.

Public record only exists from December 2020 onwards hence I can only reference that timeframe.

we know we furloughed majority of staff over the period of the league closing down, so no big surprises there

all whilst maintaining the same playing squad too

Pffttt, Chesterfield using taxpayers money to their benefit, have a word with Ron Martin, the king of this sort of shenanigans. Over a decade of using taxpayers money to fund a football club. Come back when you've hit eight figures and we'll talk.

There are lots of football based trusts and side ventures but as most of these are charities I've not included them.

Nobody likes us, we don't care.

While we're at it. If anyone can spare any cash, we're about £5k away from our target for frost covers. Please give generously.
