Whilst I am still basking in the tinpottery of this thread, that coming from a fan who have had managers spaff Fort Knox up the wall season upon season to remain in this division is a scandal.

Mods permission to drive them all off a cliff please?

Bitter little man syndrome, exhibit A. Your club is managed by a rich fan/ex director who's only previous experience is managing a pub team.

Anyway back on topic, I think it's fair to say Hill's done a pretty decent job at Woking, they generally play decent stuff and always annoyingly seem to beat us at Kingfield, no matter how much money we've spunked up the wall. His whinging is irritating though, and his face looks like a smacked arse 99% of the time.

I wouldn't want an actual hooligan as my manager anyway. I reckon most Woking fans will know exactly what I am talking about. You cant have that small of a budget to attract the likes of Scott Rendell, Yakubu and John Goddard.

Who's to say we can't? We spent a fair amount of our budget on Rendell and Yakubu and as a result we tend to operate with a squad of about 17 players, three of which are loan players. As for Goddard, he was on trial with us in pre-season two seasons ago. He'd only been making appearances off the bench for relegated Hayes and Yeading previous to that. He had a good season last year but he's really pushed on this year. We're not breaking the bank for him in terms of wages. No one else in this division really knew who he was until this season.

I remember his 'disappointment' at ours when Woking scored four goals but failed to beat us :D

Do Woking have a pair of stars above their crest to show their Surrey Senior cup wins?

Because if they don't. ...They should.

I 100% agree. And I look forward to 15 stars soon above the Sutton United club crest

I refer to my earlier point... AGAIN. It's impossible to lose 400k a season on a 300k budget.

Clue: Your budget is bigger than 300k!

Done a good job, but not as good as Askey or Kinnear, to name two off the top of my head.

He's a tool, but he's done a good job; I quite like Woking. FGR though... good grief.

Three years ago yesterday Chris Kinnear took over a mid-table Conference South Dover Athletic.
In his first half-season we lost the play off final. In his first full season we got to the FA Cup Second Round, and won promotion to the Conference. In his second season we finished 8th in the Conference, lost to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup 3rd round and got to the FA Trophy Semi-Final. This season we are currently 4th and still in the FA Trophy.

Not bad for a part time side with a dinosaur manager :2thumb:

You just had to say it...

First of all good to see another Dover fan, I wonder if it's Dover4Life?

I don't see the problem with taking pride in County Cup success, they've been marginalised massively but still play a part and are steeped with history. Only one star for us, from 1991...

Our manager was a certain Chris Kinnear...

Could've won it again in 2014 but we let Ebbsfleet have that one so we could win the important one 5 days later...

It's not impossible, it's just very unlikely, especially for a club the size of Woking who shouldn't have huge operating costs (i.e. full time non-playing staff, rent etc).

You don't need to be so coy. Remember he actually headbutted the assistant manager at Salisbury after a game when he managed R&DFC.

Does it bother anyone else that he spells his name with 2 R's?

Not as much as it bothers me that your gimp in charge has two first names, one of which is Dale FFS.

Kinnear seems like a lovely chap. Proper good grandparent/older relative material. Hill on the other hand seems like someone who you'd avoid making eye contact with at all costs in the queue for a pint. Both doing great jobs though.

Pretty good analogy, actually. Hill will have a laugh and a joke with you just as much as he'll call you a 'fat four-eyed munter', as an unfortunate Guiseley fan* found out. He is man-manager, after all.

Hill reminds me a bit of Jay's dad in The Inbetweeners. I think to enjoy his company, you'd perhaps have to do that thing were you switch off the part of your brain that gets offended easily and pulls people up on things when they spout shit. We've all done it at work when it's 9.30 on a Monday morning and someone's cornered you as you're making a brew regaling some racist/sexist/homophobic hijinks from the weekend but you're just nodding along and saying yes in order to get the fuck out of the kitchen as quickly as possible. That said, Hill only really annoys when he's been beaten by your own team. He's pretty solid entertainment the rest of the time. You need managers like that in a division.

I would have loved to have seen Hill's interview after we scored those 2 injury time equalisers a few years back, I would expect it to be solid gold. If anyone has a link to it please feel free to post it here!
