Why do all Tory voters have sweaty, oily skin? The young ones are usually worse, rancid specimens.

Paxman took Cameron apart but then the avidly pro-Tory Burley spoon feeds him.

That was a bit pathetic from not redenough Ed, 'let me tell you..' as if he was about to say he'd been in jail for GBH in his 20s.

He's improving.

Another shitty question about his brother, don't know how this is relevant.

Well that whole exercise didn't tell us a terrific amount. Thought Miliband probably came off slightly the better overall, but it won't have made much impact on the polls, I wouldn't think. Maybe see Labour up a point or two.

Just a short break until Question Time now. Great night for political geeks.

Cameron failed to divulge anything that we didn't already know. Completely dodged any question not remotely linked to the economy...but mentioning the economy.

Wasn't overly impressed by Ed Miliband, but I think he got a tougher ride that DC. Burley seemed intent on disrupting him at any opportunity and I thought a lot of the initial questions from Paxman were too focused on Labour of the past, and not on how a Labour government would govern the country if they win the election.

Overall, this hasn't made much difference to my mind.

^ Thing is, he was marginally better than Cameron and still has a decent chance of of being our next Prime Minister.

We might as well run giggling on mass to the nearest cliff-edge and throw ourselves into the sea.

Loved the "Are you?" from Miliband slightly muffled by the applause though. Shots fired. One of his best performances in a Labour shirt from what I've seen.

But did we actually learn anything? From either of them? I think Ed came across as passionate, certainly more so than Cameron, but I'm not sure he did anything to really sway voters.

Poll of undecided voters: 56% Labour - 30% Conservatives

There's your answer Pyeman.

Would defo agree too going by that footage. Didn't expect a thing off Miliband but Cameron crashed on the rocks of his own failures.

Not sure if it was Miliband that has swayed voters towards Labour or that rancid old biased arse licking bitch Burley.

There's your answer Pyeman.

Not necessarily.

Just because Ed did a better job than DC on the night (which seems to be the general consensus), that doesn't necessarily mean people feel any more inclined to vote Labour.

I agree completely that Ed had a more successful evening than DC, but my point was that in terms of content, there was very little said that hadn't been said before. Therefore I don't think it'll have that much impact in the long run.

Plus we can't ignore the fact that the opposition leader has an easier job. It's far more difficult to justify current austerity policies than it is to sit and criticise them. It's no real surprise Ed came out ahead. It's also no coincidence that DC was all for TV debates when in opposition, but not when in power. Tonight highlighted why perfectly.

Milliband more than matched Cameron and that's all he had to do. People's opinion of Milliband is low so if he just puts in ok performances in all of these pre-election events then he'll gain a boost whereas with Cameron people expect a lot more so just doing ok is damaging for him.

Zero-hour contracts are shit but don't reveal the full extent of the issue. I wonder how many people have contracted hours that are not honoured. My contract is never honoured.

I don't know about the UK but in the US wage-theft dwarfs all other theft combined.

I'd agree with Alty's appraisal. It didn't tell us much, but I think some of the people who think personality is more important than policies might have seen Miliband a little differently last night. The 'you're not that important' retort to Paxman caught Jezza off guard.

That's unsurprising. There's little transparency either. If I wanted to challenge it I doubt I would be able to.

In another example, at Marston's they had a policy of only paying wages until midnight, when last orders were at 11:30. Regularly you wouldn't finish on time because it was impossible and labour that went unpaid would quickly add up. I estimate that I lost at least hundreds per year because of that policy. It was a system of organised theft.

The fact that a large proportion of big businesses see their labour as an expense rather than a partner is shocking. It's the wrong mindset. Business efficiency in my opinion should be primarily dedicated to non-labour costs. Sure, don't employ people for the sake of it but the style of cut-throat capitalism is demeaning and appalling.

Workers should be able to live with a modicum of self-respect and dignity.
