If memory serves, we had pretty good GE threads in 2015 and 2017.

Not as many people around now, but still worth creating a place for predictions, analysis and videos of Andrew Bridgen making an arse of himself.

FWIW, I reckon a hung parliament.

I think people should have to pass an IQ test before voting in an election what with some of the absolute fucking cretins that live in this country.

I think a narrow tory majority, depends on lib dems and Brexit party really.

Just can't see Labour doing better than 2017 with their current indecisiveness on Brexit and Corbyn still leading them

If only it was that simple. I understand what you're saying though. Problem is intelligence is no guarantee of common sense which often seems lacking when listening to the electorate. Plus of course this would disproportionately block out people who are poor or non-white who are often most effected by policies. Then there's the argument of legitimacy.

Yeah I know that it could never really happen but I look at some of the pond life that live down my street and think to myself, how come you morons get a say on who should lead the county?

Brexit party announce they won't field any candidates where Tories won seats in the last GE.

Probably means it's over tbh - funnily enough, I'm now not sure they'll win any seats

Farage going against what he said, what a surprise, constantly changing his mind. And people trust him...lol.

I don't think the Brexit party were likely to win any seats anyway, but this will help Tories get a majority. Oh well, they're all pretty much useless anyway.

Tories were on for a majority anyway.

Until Labour realise they are not a credible opposition with Corbyn and their Brexit stance they will get nowhere. Tories have been a disaster since 2015 and have Boris in charge yet Labour are still polling around 10-12 points down.

Think they'll pull a bit of that back, polling always cocks up the actual result as well. Confidence in winning means people won't come out to vote.

Evidence in the last GE and the Brexit vote.

Maybe so but they need to be doing a lot more than just pulling it back they are not a credible opposition party right now and haven't been for years

Looks like 3 candidates in my constituency again this time round as with two years ago. How boring - this was what we had last time round:

Labour are six points behind according to Survation, the pollsters who most accurately predicted 2017. What is a workable Brexit position for Labour given the fragility of their electoral class coalition? And how does a new leadership change that fact? I brought up the same point in one of these threads almost three years ago. I was and still am concern-trolling, but even now no-one can give me a convincing answer on that one. Not least how they imagine they will wrest back control of the party even if Corbyn does resign.

FWIW, I think renegotiation and a 2nd referendum is the most pragmatic electoral strategy available to the leadership -- I think it's ultimately going to doom them, but here we are. If we do get a 2nd vote, I will probably vote leave next time around.

You’re probably right though I think they’d be better off not saying they’ll campaign against a deal they’ve negotiated. It’s schizophrenic to say the least.

As a Labour voter all my life this election will be the first ever where I really don’t wanna vote for them. I personally think that this current Labour opposition are the biggest bunch of useless twats we’ve ever had but I will reluctantly still vote for them as our own Grimsby MP Melanie Onn is very good at her job.
As for Jeremy Corbyn I think the guy is a complete tosser and the sooner he fucks off the better.

This isn't 2017, in 2017 labour promised to respect the result of the referendum, this time they are not, I think that will be there downfall even more so this time around.

You can't go into an election saying you will get another deal and then campaign for remain against your own new deal.

How can an opposition party and its members be hoping to just stop a tory majority. They should be hoping for a majority of their own and i just don't see it happening. Its not good when the opposition feel another 2017 and the tories not having a majority is a win.

What I really don't understand is the Lib Dem's. I hear them every day saying that they won't support or prop up a Labour government as they 'are a leave party' - which is obviously bollocks.

They answer criticism on revoking article 50 by saying 'thats only if we win a majority' otherwise we want a 2nd referendum - obviously they won't get anywhere near a majority, so how is their 2nd referendum more righteous that Labours? Labour have said they will campaign to remain (which is weird as mentioned above), so what do the Lib Dems plan to push/do if leave wins a 2nd referendum? As a remain party supporting another party, will they just veto it again? I really don't get it.

They then moan that Labour won't stand aside to them, again how can they moan at that? How far up your own arse do you have to be for a party that is 4th expects 2nd to make way? It's like the Brexit party expecting the Tories to move aside for them.

I don't get it, the Lib Dems could have ended this whole thing a while ago if they really wanted, yet their stance on Brexit & politics will ultimately ensure we leave the EU - the very thing they're supposedly trying to prevent. They even have their own candidates standing down so they don't split the remain vote, before announcing they'll replace them tomorrow with someone else. They're worse than the Brexit party tbh

Lib Dems are just yellow tories who thought that being the only real remain party might win them a few votes

Completely agree.

That, with their bullshit lying “statistics” they’re putting out there on campaigns. They’re trying more take take Labour seats than Tory seats.

I cannot stand them or Swinson

I'm unsure how this could have happened, given the maths in the last Parliament meant even with Lib Dem support wouldn't have been enough to put Corbyn into no 10 on a temporary basis.
I'm also doubtful that standing aside in key Labour-Tory marginals would always help a Labour incumbent like Rosie Duffield. Surveys have shown that Tory Remainers view Corbyn as a greater evil than Brexit, so while they might vote LD, in their absence would probably revert back to Tory.

Too simplistic I feel. Other surveys have shown that Lib Dem voters would split fairly evenly amongst the other parties if they didn't have a candidate, with a fair number not voting at all.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
The problem is labour are in a far left dreamworld which most voters don’t buy into anymore.

Just stop with the ‘give everyone everything’ approach and think of 3-4 key real issues that people can get into and move a little more central so they could work with the Lib Dem’s........then they have a chance.

An easing of council budgets, childcare funding support, social care support, environment issues, improve northern train network.

All this easing immigration, renationalising and seemingly wanting to increase all funding.......most general public don’t buy it.

It would have been an entire cross party collaborative as a temporary government, but Swinson said no to JC being the temporary PM. Surveys show every point of view & every opinion, they're just not reliable anymore these days - most surveys are also jumped onto by opposing supporters to mess with the numbers, I don't believe many remainers would vote Tory in this situation.

Regarding your 2nd point, I don't think they were talking about LD voters, rather the LD's as a party.

Oh, I don't say it because it's not possible, I say it because it's pathetic and desperate and undesirable. Even though it won't happen it's definitely achievable. It would be wildly expensive and no one would be getting anything for 'free', but at least you'd have a Marxist with power over your new state-run internet. What could go wrong.

Brexit is pathetic & undesirable - and will cost our country and people a hell of a lot more. And that’s not just in monetary value.

But at least we’ll have a proven liar, unlawful, suppressor of information & Russian state lead fool with power - what could go wrong?

The Tories are pioneers of state controlled internet. Snoopers charter and porn verification ring any bells?
