Thought it my be interesting to see if we have any gym buffs on here?

My story...I'm one of those pathetically weak people that has given in to trying to get a decent body. Gave in about 5 years ago and so far have some very vague definition and arms only slightly better than a stick insects.

With my body I know I should eat better to get 'abs' but curry is just too nice. Also I dont do cardio but am going to start doing some high intensity interval training. Any advice on this? I dont have a gym membership so just have dumbbells at home to use and random stuff around the house. Re using HIIT to burn fat would sprint % burpee intervals be enough? I was thinking doing 20-30 mins every 3 days?

My advice would be to just keep eating the curry, enjoying it, and washing it down with a few beers but maybe that's not the point of the thread.

This is how I've been doing it, But Facebook and it's fucking memories app thing has kicked me in the bollocks today, Not that I can see them anymore. 2 people have posted memories of me from 2 years ago looking slim, with beer in my hand. Happy days. Then a picture of me from our game last Tuesday stood at Accrington and the fucking moobs that are developing are horrendous!

Drowning my sorrows with some Red Stripe as I type this.

I just don't actually know if people can point out a plan which works.

I myself did weight a ridiculous 26 stone about 6-7 years ago and got it down to 18 stone over 4 years through a lot of hard work, but I'd not have any sort've plan or method I could ever sort've give to anyone else.

I was going for 2 years previous and it never went down then suddenly got a sort've heart attack scare one Christmas morning and it kicked me into focus.

I think just abit of focus can help, a real desire to change it, see a fitness instructor at your gym for tips on the right equipment for you. keep a lifestyle you will enjoy but maybe just reduce some things or slightly change odd things as I find a drastic change will fail in the end.

I sort've just switched food around, and a good thing I enjoyed was my main dinner at lunch rather than tea time then gym in the eveing and just a small snack for tea.............having the main calorie meal earlier in day seemed easier to burn off than normal time.

but its very tough,

I think I'm about 11stone so it's really just the stubborn fat around my lower belly I'm trying to shift...and I dont have a gym membership, not worth it atm as I keep moving around.

Yeah the main meal at lunch time is a common thing in nursing homes. Its cos you still have the rest of the day to move around and work it off as opposed to going to sleep on it.

Cheers :)

11 stone is nothing. I'm about 14 stone but i haven't got any fat on my lower belly. I'm just going to stick to my see food and eat it diet, as it's working very well.

Not worried about being overweight haha. Just been obsessed with trying to get abs for ages, I'm annoyingly vain at times

This is my problem. I'm currently just under 13 stone, which for my height [6ft] isn't abnormal, but my lower stomach just won't shift any of the stubborn fat as you call it. It's really frustrating.

To be fair I haven't exercised properly in over a year because of my knee. I'm having my ACL reconstructed in a few weeks but after that I'm going to put my treadmill in my garage and get an exercise bike and really work on my fitness.

A friend of mine burnt a serious amount of fat by doing high intensity intervals on the treadmill. He'd only do 15 minutes, but he'd go full on for 45 seconds, then 15 second rest, then full on for 45 seconds etc. I'm going to try something similar once my knee is up and running. I hate spending ages on the treadmill, so something quick but effective is perfect for my needs.

Weights > HIIT > cardio. If you're after dropping fat (and not muscle) then steady state cardio is pretty pointless whilst abs are only likely to come with a seriously dedicated diet (or some kind genes).

If you want a good program look at Nick Mitchell's Ultimate Body Transformation. It does require a gym and serious dedication but gives results, I did the first 8 weeks last autumn (prior to going to America and eating my weight in sugar... for breakfast). It is fooking hard but definitely the best period I've had in the gym. If you're not looking at something that serious, just google Nick Mitchell, he offers a lot of sound advice.

Not done much in last few months but going to get my ass in gear now after holiday excess.
