For what it's worth I don't think it's necessary, nor should the legislation be pushed through.

Irrespective though, the apps will simply change how they handle communications to abide by laws. We won't notice any change as end users - it will just raise a few bullshit privacy issues.

Surely the more worrying thing is the fact that they essentially want to ban a form of communication because they can't spy in on it? It's deplorable. The threat terrorism poses is minuscule. This isn't even close to being justifiable.
