and other "encrypted messages" due to fears about communication via private conversations:

Not sure this will go down too well if enforced - punishing millions because they fear the actions of a minority could lead to a terror attack?

Britons could see the hugely popular cross-platform app BANNED under strict new laws on social media and online messaging services.

Prime Minister David Cameron is pressing ahead with new legislation that plans to stop people from sending any form of encrypted messages.

A number of popular messaging services – including WhatsApp, iMessage and Snapchat – currently scramble communications between their users.

In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which we cannot read? No, we must not

They'll just change the encryption surely?

For what it's worth I don't think it's necessary, nor should the legislation be pushed through.

Irrespective though, the apps will simply change how they handle communications to abide by laws. We won't notice any change as end users - it will just raise a few bullshit privacy issues.

If people really wanted the government to not understand what they were saying surely they'd use stuff like code words etc as well

'3,2,1'
