Aye - I'm realistic, I'm not all doom and gloom anymore but under Cotterill when we hadn't signed anyone and were fucking awful at the back.

Rammy's the main culprit - his club have just spent 25m and have been in the top six all season and he still tries to convince me they're shite, they won't finish in the top six and they'll get dicked every week.

It will be the first time Villa have played Rotherham in the league since I was 6!! I'm over 50 now.

Yes, that's how far you've fallen.

I'm actually pleased this never happened, gonna be a right laugh in/around St Andrews before/after the game next Saturday for the 'official' confirmation. In my living memory the Mighty Aston Villa have never been relegated, seeing them reduced to the 'Championshit' 'Chumpionship' 'fizzy pop league' will be a day to behold, I shall savour every moment :D

 can't say as I blame you, I had a good old hearty laugh last time you lot were relegated, so it's only fair for you lot to have a time to laugh at us for a change!

fuck off. don't be trying to compete in the much greater reward of Away fans league

You're fucked with us and Newcastle down here too mate... God, I forgot that away attendances are a large part of the discussion at times. Do things get that dull? Then again, if I were a Leeds fan, I'd be clinging to our away attendances too. ;)

Living memory? I'm 35 and remember the fuckers getting relegated in 87.

I'm aware they were tier two in the 80s chaps, I'd also point out glue sniffing and solvent abuse were also prominent, I threw myself headlong into that :D also I purposely added in 'my living memory' as the 80s football kind of passed me by, I was on the Kop at St Andrews but was more fascinated with off pitch antics than remembering Villa gracing our presence.

Welcome to the greatest division in the world, as some and myself sometimes call it, hell. Where Davids can not only just beat Goliaths, but destroy them.

In short, anything can happen in the Championship!

We flogged 5.5k fairly easily for a cup game earlier this season and they were in this league a few years back - I hope we get a massive allocation for Villa but it depends on whether they sell the bottom tier to ST holders Jase reckons.
Confused. Are we talking about West Brom or Villa here?

I meant to put at West Brom. The point was if we could sell that amount for a meaningless cup game against a team who were in our league a few years back, we'd sell out the away end at Villa if they give us a decent amount.

I personally don't think we will sell out at Villa, we will bring quite a few but depending on how well we've done and whether the game is a dead rubber match or not, I doubt we'll sell out. The reason we brought that much to the Hawthorns is because it was a cup game, and people get ridiculously over-hyped about cup games. A cup game against a BPL team for a FL72 team away always attracts away fans, and a bigger than usual away following.

I guess it's all a question on how much we would've brought had we be playing them in the league, really.

'A cup game against a BPL team for a FL72 team' might be one of the worst lines I've ever read. FL72 - eugh.

We sold out the Hawthorns when we played them in the league, we'd sell out Villa if they gave us the big allocation and it was a Saturday as would most clubs in this league. We haven't played Villa for years and most clubs in this division haven't even, it's a big day out at Villa Park.

Can't wait for it personally.

I'm actually gutted that we've been so terrible this year that we won't get to meet you in the league, Villa Park is my favourite ground for some strange reason.
Good luck though, and we will maybe see you in 17/18 if we decide to be good again next season, or you decide to carry on being rubbish

I don't think the away allocation is that big at VP or it certainly hasn't been in the PL anyway. My lad, for his sins, is a blue nosed glory hunting little git and follows Chelsea so we went to VP last season for the Chelsea game. We sat in the North stand upper (lovely stadium) and the away support had less than half of the lower tier in the stand to our left (Doug Ellis stand?). I would guess at around 3,000.
If we can take 3,500 all the way to Geordie land as we did, I'm sure we will sell out at VP as it's just up the road. Most clubs will sell 3,000 I should think.

Of course we would, we'd have taken more than that to Brum if they'd have given us it!

Should be a cracking day, as will Newcastle again if they come down.

Not sure how good Villa's away support is. Would they be able to sell out 4000 at the Madejski? (especially after one more than one season down here).

Don't think a club has sold it out in a league game since Newcastle were last down here.

Good shout. Must have been as it was their first away game of the season. Though it isn't done too often - Maybe once every 3 seasons a club sells out at Reading. Can see it happening a few times this season if the right clubs come at the right times.

I expect so mate. I remember we sold it in the 2008 season when we made the POs, but definitely haven't since!

I don't remember the last time we didn't sell out an away game, so that'd be some effort for us not to make that imo.

Though your numbers might get a bit lowered because of protests

Aways haven't lowered tbh, the majority of money on away games doesn't reach Randy, it's home games that have/will continue to drop like a brick.

Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland would be tasty fixtures next season.

I'd back all three to sell out the Kop and all three are decent away days, weekend in Newcastle is definitely on the cards should they come down.

Team Norwich.

I don't remember Villa's away support ever being overly impressive during our time in the PL. Think they may have only had the whole end once?
