Probably averages out at £30-£35 per week. Most weeks I won't spend anything or will spend minimally on alcohol but there will be one weekend in the month where I'll spend around £100. This weekend's festivities in London cost me around that.

You must be loaded to spend that kind of money on booze.

Earn decent but spend every penny I have the motto of its no good dying with money I live for now not for the future

When I used to go out regularly for the football, I was probably splashing upwards of £400 a weekend on booze. That would be a session on the Friday, a bigger session wherever we were on the Saturday (home or away) and then a few quiet ones on the Sunday.

Miss those days.

I don't disagree with that mate but how you can even physically function during the week I have no idea.

Monday mornings are a real chore. Fresh air soon gets rid of the hangover

There are other things you can spend on for the now that aren't alcohol.

Roughly the same as Blademan but varies.

I'm in the pub most days during lunch at work, Saturdays are more often than not all dayers even if there isn't any football.

Always have beers in the fridge at home and I'm a sucker for Red Wine, love the stuff so always have a few bottles of that indoors to enjoy with the missus.

Roughly anything between £100-£200 a week.

I think what inflates the numbers is that a significant chunk of it will be spent in bars or clubs where you're paying per shot or or for cocktails. A 100 quid in a club really isn't that much nowadays even if you get pissed before getting in, a bottle of JD and a table sets you back near enough 200. Can be more depending on where you're at and what you wanna drink.

FWIW, I don't think the 12 steps is a solution. Going from being addicted to alcohol to not having a drop ever again is a bit harsh. I know I'll have trouble not having alcohol for a long period of time (and by that I mean years). Just don't think that not drinking EVER is the solution.

Depends on the traits of the individual. Most addicts suffer from varying degrees of impulsiveness, and for those in the deeper it's near impossible to maintain dicipline.

For some people it is the solution. Some people's drinking is so destructive and so impulsive that they simply can't stop at one drink.

Not sure how much I spend on drink really. My drinkings gone up a little since I started drinking beer but before that I only really drunk every other weekend. If I'm going out I'll usually take £50 with me which doesn't go very far in London or Bristol but as I'm dancing I'll just have plenty of water too.

On my bi-annual nights out, there is always a point (after 2 drinks maybe) when I think "this is great, why do I not do this more often?", but I hate the wobbly walk home and I especially hate the day after when I think of all the shite I talked, and that's the day ruined. This is probably why I only spend £60 a year on booze.

It looks like the trick is to spend several hundred quid so you can't remember any of this anyways.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
If you're so drunk that you're talking shite and can't walk straight after a couple of pints, I suggest binning it off completely, or drinking more so you actually have some tolerance to it!

Night out for me is usually £60-£80, but around £25 of that is on a taxi into town and back.

The only nights I don't drink are the ones I'm on night shift, which is 2 or 3 a week. I'd usually get through a bottle and half of wine, or 4-6 beers, or 4-6 (very large) whiskys. Problems occur the next day when I combine the three. I don't know how much I spend, probably £60 a week or something, it'll spike when I get a few bottles of whisky in!

Rarely go out these days, maybe once or twice a month. So generally my booze money is spent on wine orders with the wife's aunt, who goes over to France on booze trips every month or two. So it averages around £60-£70 a month including the odd six pack or bottle of single malt as and when I fancy it can get permission.

Two drinks marks the point where all is well with the boozing world. The talking shite and not walking straight comes after five drinks. I think you're right though, probably time to bin it completely, given that it takes six months for me to work up the courage to want to do it again.

After five pints, I feel like I could still drive. (Not that I would... Obv).

Do you want to swap livers? Mine can have a rest and I'll break yours in a bit...

Had a drink over Christmas , haven't felt the need to since. Really expensive, not good for you, makes you ill. I've also seen a few friends go through alcoholism so I think I'm best away from it. My wife doesn't drink either (and never has), so makes it very easy.

I'm quite a light weight so am quite happy with 3-4 pints on an evening out. £20 or less does me, maybe £30 if you throw in travel.

All day-ers at football are few and far between these days. Mainly because I feel shite for days after a heavy day drinking more than the above.

Usually have a few tins or bottles of cider knocking around at home but I try to keep any drinking at home to a minimum, at least contain it to weekends.

5 years ago (when I was younger and single) I was more like what The Southbank was above, with a Friday night session, all day Saturday around football, and then a chilled few down the pub on the Sunday. How the fuck I lived through that I've no idea. It'd kill me now.

I've got in the habit of having a drink with dinner when I'm on expenses through work but other than that, I rarely drink.

I'm actually quite shocked at some of the responses to this.
