Ban fluorescent boots and these silly extra layers they wear underneath.
Bring back the terraces and the Football Special aswell as evening footy papers.
And make it so that atleast 8 players in a team have to be indigenous white stock.

Orange cards in winter months because yellow is hard to see against the snow.

Get rid of the League Cup. Not technically a rule but...please, just do it.

And no FA Cup replays unless it benefits the financial position of a lower league side - just take it straight to extra time. Impossible to pull off really (where do you draw the line - Championship/League 1/League 2/non-league), but it would be a lot more fun.

I wouldn't change anything about the FA cup, but the League Cup I'm all for abolishing. We've done well in recent years in the League Cup and I'm struggling with how to feel about it. Just can't get as excited about it as about the FA cup. Was really hoping that Everton would have made it to the final this year over Man City, because facing them in the League Cup final would have - at least in my mind - added value to it, but couldn't get even that.

A player who requires treatment must stay off of the pitch for a set time. At the moment, players are going down for five minutes, a bit of magic spray, stroll off and then immediately come sprinting back on within a few seconds of being off.

The sin bin idea sounds great on paper but would all-but make the game a contactless sport.
How about something between the current yellow and red card? Possible cases where it might be better than what currently happens:
- borderline dangerous tackles, where players get sent off but managers/pundits get up in arms about it afterwards
- DOGSO where it's also a penalty and people moan about the double punishment
- occasions when a player should receive a second yellow card but the ref is reluctant to give one

Abolish the League Cup and JPT and replace them with a competition covering Championship to National League.

Tougher punishments for treatment of referees i.e bans etc rather than pointless fines

Clarification of the handball rule, I don't mind which way
I like all of these. Regarding handball, I'd much prefer it to go the way of only being punished if it's actually deliberate (I know this is the current law, but I think handball in general is given more often than it should be).

Deliberate handball is such a grey area though. I think I'd much rather handball is contact with the hand or arm regardless of circumstances. Although there'd be instances when freekicks or penalties were awarded from purely unlucky circumstances, at least everyone knows where they stand. The ref has a tough job and that split second decision on whether it was Deliberate or not is open to interpretation. Take away the doubt and things are better, I think.

The League Cup was only invented so clubs could start earning money during weeknights because of the invention of floodlights. Nobody really cares until the semi-finals; a stage we'll never get to anyway. Cull it.

I'd like to introduce three new rules to up entertainment.

1. Multi Ball of 10 balls between 67th and 73rd minute of every match. Any time a ball goes out of play in this time it is a dead ball until just one ball remains and the game continues as before. If the game is 0-0 on 67 minutes then 20 balls are released.
2. 10 minute period of 'no rules' referee decides when this will be, blows whistle, announces it then runs off the pitch.
3. Custard pie thrower in one corner. A card is drawn to determine which of the four corners the pie thrower will stand in, any player who has to take any set piece from this corner (any distance to which thrower can lob said pie) will be pelted with custard pies for the duration of when he is standing there.

Yellow card for feigning injury, whether you were fouled or not. It's still simulation.

1. Ban fans from nowhere near the club from taking tickets from fans the club represent, only after they've all been sold can the cling ons get tickets.

2. No transfer window.

3. Introduce a maximum wage per club.

Goalkeepers must always take corners.
Goalkeepers must always stay outside the 18-yard box
Goalkeepers must score before any of the other players on their team.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Ive thought before that the transfer window could be changed so clubs are only allowed to buy British players from British clubs. Or even keep the window as it is and allow that to happen all year around.

Would improve the chances of decent players in the lower leagues getting a crack higher up, so there would be a flow of English players up the divisions and a flow of money down them.

Ban tactical substitutions after the 85th minute, just plain time wasting IMO
Refuse treatment to players who had been on their feet with a minor injury, and then lie on the floor in order for the trainer to come on, walk off the pitch ffs
A maximum wage of £50,000 p/w, then clubs wouldn't need to charge so bleedin much to get in!!!!

The "purist" part of your name takes on a scary new connotation in light of this comment.

Only £50,000? Should be £10,000 max.

10k a week is still, 520k a year, take off tax and national insurence, thats still £358800. That's too much for what they do.

They wouldn't get paid what they are getting paid if the demand wasn't there. Better let these things find their natural place than start restricting them.

1. If the ball makes contact with the arm, it's handball regardless of intent
2. Goalkeepers are not allowed to leave the penalty area
3. If a player is in an offside position, then it's automatically offside whether he's anything to do with the play or not.

I've seen/heard a lot of people suggesting this in recent weeks, including Gary Lineker. It sounds ludicrous to me, why should you be punished for accidentally touching the ball with your hand and more than accidentally touching the ball with, say, your knee? You'd end up with strikers deliberately hitting the ball at defenders hands just to get penalties.

Just to avoid the whole 'did he mean it or didn't he?' argument. It works in hockey - if the ball hits your foot, then it's an offence every time.

Change penalties. The fact you get the same reward for a handball on the line as a trip in the corner of the box is ludicrous. The penalty should be taken from the place of the infringement, unless it's a couple of yards from goal in which case a goal is given.

^^ I like this one. Even if they had a 'penalty line' which horizontally intersects the penalty spot. So if you won a penalty on the goal line at the edge of the box you'd still get the advantage of shooting from the penalty line. Otherwise it would just become a very short corner kick :bg:.

3 things I'd change:
- Hindsight punishment for teams. Players who dive to win a penalty or surround the ref. Especially ones who are caught on camera 'doing a Drogba'. Near to death and rolling around in pain then peeks through his fingers to see if he won a free kick. Don't punish the player. Instead, deduct points from the team. They'll soon stop.
- If some rich person buys a football club, the fans should be able to vote for whether or not they want their stadium to be given some silly sponsorship name.
- Change the transfer system into some sort of bracketed pool. Instead of random over-inflated prices being put on players heads by rich teams looking for a status symbol, enforce a price based on performance the previous season. So if a player had a blinding season (regardless of whether they played for Arsenal or Villa) they'd become part of the top pool and likewise Mr £50m who only scored 5 goals would be priced as such. It's a wild idea but would probably create a more even playing field.

99.9% of the time a player doesn't mean to handle the ball. Unless you're doing a Suarez and deliberately saving the ball on the goal line, I don't get why you would either?
