It’s a little harsh on Rosenior who I thought had done a good job stabilising them. Certainly at home they have got an excellent record if not so much away. Warne would be a great appointment though still think it’s strange he’d leave a club 8th in the Championship for a L1 club that as far as I’m aware is banned from paying transfer fees for a while yet.

It will be down to the potential I guess. Playing infront of 26000 each week and the chance to build them back up is tempting I’m sure for him.
Although I think he should stay put as he has built a solid foundation.

££££ possibly? You’d assume Derby can pay him far more than Rotherham?

It's just like Potter leaving Brighton for Chelsea.

No brainer.

Watch his first game be against us ffs.

Wonder how Derby have pulled it off, if they have, Warne will surely have to resign as Derby can't poach a manager unless they are cheating, again.

Guess he has done and Derby will owe Rotherham some compensation at some point .

They can't pay any fees so why would Rotherham accept that?
Looking at a few Twitter comments it seems they have the money and will be spending it which was part of the appeal .

Think the transfer embargo was lifted in the summer but was that only for free transfers etc?

It does rather make a mockery of the whole system though if weeks after almost going bust they can go and poach other managers because they have more money etc .

I think the two are separate. I remember with Bolton they paid compo for Evatt to Barrow and they were under similar restrictions on paying transfer fees then after they came out of admin.

Massively surprised that Rosenior wasn’t given the job full time, obviously as the interim manager then he was only auditioning for the job but I felt that he had done enough for an 18 month contract or something similar.

Warne is a good manager, but the difference in philosophies from the previous regime are night and day. No more 70% possession games ending in a draw or a loss, I would guess, but that was fast becoming the Derby way.

No idea whether this will prove to be a good move or not. I do think it will help certain players and impact others. In terms of what he’s proven in the past at this level, it’s a very solid choice. Let’s hope everyone can put it together quickly. I do hope Rosenior sticks around at least for the short term.

He’s got the track record of getting teams up from this league and would feel pretty confident for him to do the same at Derby in the next 18 months and really that is all that should come into it. I personally feel this season is probably one too early for you but might be wrong on that. I’ve felt before those managers who have their philosophies of just keeping possession for the sake of it are vastly overrated, not much good once winter sets in and the pitches start cutting up. Got to be able to mix it up.

As much as it is infuriating that is an excellent appointment for Derby

Great appointment for Derby. Wonder where that leaves Rotherham. Will they appoint from within?

Who, he's took his backroom team with him.

Wouldn't surprise me if they look at Schumacher or Ainsworth

Be a canny appointment that

We played Cambridge 3 times last seson and won all 3 games but we were quite lucky in 2 of those games.
I was quite impressed with their style of play and would be happy to see him on any shortlist.
Warne was actually full of praise for Bonner, maybe he has suggested him as a possible replacement because Warne's departure seems to have been given with the blessing of Tony Stewart.
That makes us as bad as Derby I suppose, poaching someone else's manager, football is so shit.
Managers shouldn't be allowed to be approached once the transfer window closes just like players.

Anything is possible in football but I would say that Bonner is linked with just about every club above us in League 1 and a most in the championship whenever they sack their manager!

I rate Warne and I see Bonner very much in his mould. Also think Rotherham are the sort of club we are trying to become, Rotherham strike me as “Bonner’s bag” if he was ever to move.

But it’s my hunch he’ll be with us until it ultimately goes to shit at some point and then he’ll join the coaching staff at St George’s Park, probably coaching U18s or something similar. He’s a coach first and a manager second as far as I’ve seen.

Schumacher has already said no to Huddersfield so I think he'll would say no to Rotherham if he was one of the favourites for the job of course.

How so?
Money talks doesn’t it.
And there is little loyalty in football.
Plus it’s bigger club, good facilities and a solid platform to build on.
Stranger things have happened.

I can't see why he would leave Plymouth for any team that is likely to inhabit the lower end of the Championship table.
He surely wants to be in with a chance of promotion to the Premier League if he moves at all.

I'd be very surprised if Bonner took the Rotherham job.

I would too as I understand he is a local lad and maybe would want a better opportunity to move up north.

On the other hand, if a bloke with little experience can double his wages you just never know, I am amazed Warne left a "job for as long as he wants it" (Tony Stewart's own words to me 3months ago) to go to Derby.

He won't last 5 minutes there if he gets off to a bad start and 20,000 start mumping at him instead of a few hundred here.
