So Farnborough are in such a mess they have called off their opening two league games. (Not that you'd know it from checking the wonderful official Ryman League website).

Might also have been a nice gesture if the club had offered apologies in the statement on their own club website to the two clubs they should have been playing, but no.

Thrown two clubs plans into chaos due to their own innefficiancy but apologise, not them.

Apparently both VCD and Harrow Borough have not yet been informed officially of the postponements, perhaps Farnborough are so far up their own backsides, they didn't bother to tell the league.

Yep, absolutely echo that sentiment. Really pleased that there still just about seems be a place for businesses like Banquet, as it's the sort of venture that Kingston town centre's largely lost. Was a landslide victory as well - he received well over half the vote in a five way contest, which is fantastic.
Any news the mighty Ks on whether you'll carry on playing at Kingsmeadow when Wimbledon leave. Btw I always thought that Kingston-on Thames was in Surrey, but Wiki says it's a part of Greater London.

Kingston is a London Borough, the inhabitants of Kingston can vote for the Mayor of London. It is a part of London. The only thing about Kingston that is not London based is its postcode.

Kingston is traditionally part of Surrey, but got swallowed by Greater London. The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames overlaps the two but the town of Kingston is considered 'Greater London' territory.

As for the Kingsmeadow question... it all depends on what the Womble overlords end up doing with the site. The most recent news is that Chelski want KM for reserves/youths/ladies etc football & the majority of Womble fans have said that no deal would be made unless it safeguards our future at the ground. Apparently our board said they were looking in to other options for a home venue but that was ages ago & there's been no news on it since - not that there is anywhere else to go to unless the plan is to move in with Corinthian-Casuals (grim) but then we'd be in the exact same situation of not owning our ground but in shitter surroundings.

What Paddy says, basically. It looks unlikely as the board have explicitly stated that they don't see us having a future at Kingsmeadow. It's something that I feel quite apprehensive about as I can't really see that there are many viable sites for a football club in the town but unfortunately it's a question of watch this space. Nothing's been communicated since the story of Wimbledon's proposed exit broke back in January.

Btw I always thought that Kingston-on Thames was in Surrey, but Wiki says it's a part of Greater London.

Yeah, it's Greater London as the other guys say. Has been ever since the London Government Act of the 1960s where parts of Surrey, Kent, Herts and Essex and nearly all of Middlesex were absorbed into Greater London. However, like a lot of other towns which traditionally belonged to the home counties it retains a bit of a dual identity - it's still common to see it referred to as Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, and the County Hall for Surrey County Council remains in Kingston despite it no longer having any jurisdiction over the area.

See also 'ornchurch, Essex - when we are part of LB Havering. And Ilford, Essex etc. Also Romford but we don't mention that place.

Now the mystery deepens. ... Late Thursday afternoon, Farnborough removed the "club Statement" regarding the two games being postponed from their website, which now shows both games as scheduled.

Anyone know what's going on ??

Bet VCD and Harrow are impressed.

It's great when there's a basket case club in your league to make things just a little more entertaining! (Unless that basket case is the club you support... then it's slightly less than entertaining)

Jason Prior back amongst the goals for Bognor. Decent scoreline for Dulwich too.

Right then, I know there is a Tonbridge fan who frequents this thread. Will Godmon on loan. How did he do between the sticks for you today at Enfield?

Good day for ex-Stones with the strike pairing of Harris and Attwood helping Hastings to a 6-0 victory.

I swear we never win on the first day of the season. Went a goal up against the only remaining farmer team in the Isthmian Prem then proceeded to concede a goal in the 40th & 50th minute.

Bring on the Tanners on Monday...

Meanwhile down in the Dog + Duck (North), some impressive prescience by PinknBlue ...

I'd expect you to be firm favourites for D1N with Purcell and Knight up front. I'm not sure that playing in front of less than 100 fans nearly every game will be much fun though! I've never understood why the crowds are so much smaller in D1N than in D1S. Goopd luck for the season ahead!

as the Chins edged out Cray Galacticos 2-1 with goals by yes, Purcell and Knight (with a last minute winner). I'm not sure we deserved it, but last year we used to concede in the last minute so not complaining. A certain Andre McCollin got the Cray goal. He looked OK - didn't really spot any of their other mega signings but my knowledge isn't that great. Cray were a bit peeved at the end and some top notch fisticuffs followed the final whistle. Superb stuff.

Thanks for the good wishes P&B - you too. (We had a mahooosive 175 attendance by the way - it'll be a nice change to have one of the bigger supports).

Dulwich 3 - Canvey 0

An excellent performance today from Dulwich. A pretty even first 30 minutes with both sides playing good football and chances at both ends but only one goal. Dulwich then got on top and in the second half we really should have scored couple more. A very encouraging start and we again looked very strong all over the pitch. 2 goals from Damian Scannell and 1 from Callum Willock, who looks a good strong target man. I'm not sure why some Lewes fans think so poorly of him? I'd expect Jacob Erskine (for Willock) and Albert Jarrett (for Hibbert) to return when they've recovered from injury/suspension.

Good to see Maidstone and Margate making decent starts in NS; will be interesting to see how they manage this season. I expect both sides to finish well inside the top half.

Yep - amazing isn't it. There were some very nice cars from Cray in the car park that's all I can say. Bit like a poor man's Robin Van Persie really.

Hmm…a rather inauspicious start from K's!

Meanwhile…

Dulwich old boys (aka Merstham) 0 - Dulwich 2

A hard fought game won by goals from Willock and Scannell. Phil Wilson made 3 great saves and gets my vote as MOM. Merstham are physical and tough and a half-decent side; I don't see them going down this year if tonight is anything to judge by. Merstham had no less than 7 ex-Dulwich players in the starting line-up or on the bench!

Good start to the Prem campaign for Burgess Hill. Was only a few years back that they were facing relegation to the county leagues. Possible dark horses?

Given how they ran away with Div 1 last season I'm not even sure you can call them dark horses! Nearly 110 points in any league is a good total and should indicate that without change to whatever fuels that they will be towards the top end of the next division.

They're local rivals. Carshalton is about a mile and a half from Sutton.
