Hey, Yeovil look pretty determined to return to football's lower reaches so perhaps we can resurrect that fixture one day!

Do remember seeing an "on this day" feature on the Ks website a couple of years ago which was vs Doncaster. Think it was a victory accompanied by an 1k+ crowd... halcyon days (and yeah, pretty depressing from the current vantage point)...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

In case I haven't sufficiently put a downer on things, I've just seen that Daniel Sweeney's gone to Hipsters Hamlet :err: Great!

Must have had money chucked at him coz afaik he was happy at K's. Seems very odd for him to move to another Isthmian Premier club & not up any leagues - he's easily capable of at least Conference South football.

Lewes have appointed Darren Freeman as manager. Formerly at Whitehawk, but up until today at Peacehaven for about ten minutes.

Another point yesterday as we tied 1-all with Tonbridge.

That's 4 games in a row we've shared the points & 10 league games undefeated.

What did you think of Tonbridge? Surprised to see them riding so high given their struggles last season.

Looking on the Tonbridge forum they dont seem at all happy with you guys.....apparently your fans spent the whole game abusing their manager

Btw is the Ryman League a lot weaker this year or have Tonbridge just majorly improved?? seems rather bizarre to say the least that their title challengers :bl:

Also surprised to see Hendon & Enfield underperforming. I thought they would be title contenders

There's a lot of history with McKimm (he seems a pretty ridiculous individual from what I can gather).

Not sure whether the league's weaker or not. Certainly seems more competitive. Unlike last year there don't appear to be any standout sides which probably makes it easier for unfancied teams to find themselves in the mix.

Wasn't there so can't comment, work gets in the way of watching K's a lot these days. As PP said there is no runaway team this year & there's been some crazy results so far to back that up. Tonbridge must have improved to be where they are now but I wouldn't be surprised if most of the current top 5 aren't there at the end of the season.

Really? They're still at it? They used to get a little over excited when Macca was at Sutton. In fact in February 2011 when Maidstone played at Sutton about 10-15 Kingstonian fans sadly turned up just to abuse Macca (and Sutton in general). Sad really.

Talking of sad, Carshalton lost 2-1 at home in a local derby to Whyteleafe in front of 187. Luckily they're 12 points clear of relegation

I'm almost obsessed with your obsession ;)

OK, despite the failings of the Conference, still not missing the Isthmian....

Ah sure you miss it... Turvey's gone... we get to remember his greatness in the form of the League Cup renamed in his honour. You guys don't even have a league cup up there anymore.

I'm not at all surprised that Tonbridge are doing well; I tipped them and Grays as dark horses at the start of the season and I expect both to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Having played pretty poorly for the first dozen games this season, we're now starting to look very good and are playing some nice football. Big games this week away to Hampton and Richmond and Canvey Island.

Having lost Goode and the Mclaren brothers, I'm not at all surprised to see Hendon where they are.

Dan Sweeey's a great signing for us and he's presence has really freed up Waldren and Carew in midfield in the last few games. He's also scoed 3 in 3 which isn't bad either! I'm not at all surprised he's come to Dulwich above a Conference South side side as we have better support than all but 2 sides in that division and we're definitely going places (hopefully upwards!!!). With the quality of players we have I'll be very disappointed if we don't win the league this year.

Yes, he was highly rated at Ks and I think we're all rather disappointed to have lost him to a side in the same division. Always thought you lot would be the ones to beat this season so was a bit surprised by the sluggish. You certainly look to be back on track now though.

Talking of Hendon we've recently nabbed their captain as a replacement for Sweeney so that probably won't do them many favours either...

Lee O'Leary - Operation Wealdstone reject in full swing at Kingsmeadow. ;)

Hendon don't have a pot to piss in, last year's run was nothing short of miraculous.

Haha, not sure how many Wealdstone rejects we've got left on our books (but then again I'm not very clued up when it comes to knowing where players have previously plied their trade). I'm afraid Jolly didn't last long but Peter Dean's still here and playing regularly...

I only make it 3 players (Goode, Dean and O'Leary) and the manager.

Anyone here played Bognor yet? I'm assuming they're still playing their expansive, on the ground passing game?

We drew 0-0 at their place and were meant to be playing them tonight but it's been postponed coz they've got an FA Cup game to prepare for (pah). Can't comment on their football I'm afraid as I was not in attendance.

Angels, Kings and a back seat manager- not quite a match report from Tonbridge on Saturday...http://www.townsendaround.co.uk/football/angels-kings-and-a-back-seat-manager/

Didn't see the game so thanks for this, nice write up.

“We’re drawing too many games and it’ll cost us at the end of the season- where’s the betting we’ll finish sixth,” said one, to grumbled agreement.

Sounds ABOUT RIGHT

Jealousy of his nice house and lovely family ;)

Also, from what I can gather, Macca signed for K's when they were going full-on SOB after relegation from the conference in 2001. K's soon fell into admin, and there was an incident involving Macca and a group of K's fans at a game soon after (whilst he wax still a K's player). He publically apologised and soon left the club. K's fans have been giving him stick ever since, with a couple of unsavory incidents whilst he was at Sutton (including one where his partner got involved), which did neither side any credit

Wasn't there an alleged spitting incident? And an obscene gesture he made to fans? And other incidents involving him generally being a dick and trying to start on Ks fans? He doesn't really seem a very nice man. And fair enough, it's not been all one way traffic, but if you're a footballer (even a shit one) you've got to expect that you'll be on the receiving end of a bit of stick from opposition fans. Most manage not to retaliate and make an arse of themselves.

Re Jolly - he's finally retired now I believe.

This is one of the things that annoy me about Football fans (all clubs, even Sutton), is the concept we can be as abusive as we like about players, but they can' give back. If a group of people were calling me a wanker and other, more obscene, words for a sustained period I'd be very annoyed. And if they did infront of my partner and children (and then abuse my partner for sticking up for me) I'd be incensed. Because I, like all Footballers, am human. But Football fans cry like infants if a player dare makes a gesture back. It's pathetic. (Not that I condone retalitory actions)

As it happens, every time I've spoken with him, Macca comes across as a noce human being. Strange that

We found it funny, mostly.

I'm sure when Hitler spoke to his supporters he came across as a nice human being (not that I'm likening Sutton to a Nazi regime or anything). Wayne Shaw's a lovely chap too I bet ;)

Depends on the nature of the abuse, doesn't it? Lighthearted BANTZ is one thing, nasty stuff is quite another (I wouldn't condone the latter). I would have thought the majority of the needling from Ks fans fell into the former category but I'm not anywhere near enough of a regular match-goer to know all the ins and outs of the story.

I guess part of the problem is different people draw the line at different places.

As a fan though I must say that if I think I can get under an opposition players skin, I will try to!
