Rhyming on forums is not really my thing
I'd rather talk normally about Bingham, the king
To see poetry is annoying you don't need to be Spock
And if you disagree you can suck my... ice-lolly

I think all of the things I hate in football have been mentioned. Except one thing.

Our new shirt. Just can't stand watching my club playing in a terrible shirt. That's without mentioning seeing all the matchday photos in newspapers and on the web to constantly remind me of the fact.

People using descriptions of sexual violence to describe a football match -e.g "we tore them a new one."
I find that very distasteful.

Players " who know where the goal is" ....If anyone on your own team doesn't know where the goal is why keep it a secret?

A genuine one by me is it annoys me that if a Lower League game is on TV and poor they will just say its a poor quality match..........fair enough I have no complaint here if it is sh*t it is sh*t.

But get say Man Utd-Chelsea on TV and its appalling due to Chelsea's John Beck style approach of god-awful football and we have a poor quality match is it called.....'intriguing contest'

Now I am not complaining here at Chelsea....play any style you want, nor complaining that they call a poor LL game crap, but I'd rather the media stop blatantly lying on their all-conquering Premiership when a game is crap..........it is just crap, it is not suddenly intriguing or tight contest or making up lies to try and make up drab games as somehow more interesting than a drap, crap game just because of who is involved.

The money our top 7-8 clubs spend should see them playing like Barca/Real Madrid most weeks and should be as entertaining as both a lot of the time. I am sick of our media trying to protect the fact our big sides blow masses of cash to be basic, plodding, bland teams with limited ability and usually leading to extremely poor matches.........if a top 4-5 big super sunday game is terrible...........slate the sides for it.

Playing football the 'right' way.

The right way is to score more goals than you concede.

ah now see that is a great one for argument SJ, I can see your point and also disagree with your point.

It depends on if you want to spend £24 to see just wins or to be entertained.

Used to wind me up like crazy the away games I'd spend nearly £80 to see us just whack 9-0-1 ultra defence for a draw and have zero intention to attack for most of the game. I'd rather have spent that money to see us lose, but at least come out enjoying the game.........but a lot of others will agree with you.

People who refer to a " John Beck side", or other derogatory exams, as a form of total anti-football, as if each team is obliged to play a version of tika taka at every opportunity and that direct football with flying wingers somehow has no place in the game. Yes we played direct under Beck in the early 90s but you will never convince me it was poor to watch as we took teams with attendances 2 or 3 ours apart. Stinks of jealousy and a lack of understanding of effective football is actually what wins games.

Long ball means the ball being whacked forward, usually into the box, it may not be for the purist, but it does add excitement...

why is it that a player who gets fouled and needs the physio has to leave the pitch after assistance, yet the opposition player who committed the foul stays on to help his colleagues??? how's that fair and equal ???

When you're at an away game and there's some bloke in the home end, probably with his kids, who just stands there facing the away end with his arms out like that statue of Jesus in Rio. This chap is also clearly an estate agent or IT consultant, who has done nothing in life more risky than parking in a loading bay.

I never understood that either. The side whose player was fouled has been put at a disadvantage, thus negating the free-kick award.

Under John Beck, the ball was indeed whacked forward, but to the wingers not the cf. Then it was the job of the wingers to whip in decent crosses. I think you've heard the stories of Beck ordering the groundsmen to leave the grass longer near the corner flags.

Fwiw, I've always maintained that every side plays to it's strengths, so I never moan about any side's playing tactics. In fact, I'd rather see a side play kick and rush than trying to play tiki-taka with no end product. But, I can't stand those refs who let a player take 5 mins just to take a throw-in.

throw ins??? dont get me started.....why cant the ref spray that sodding foam on a throw in to stop players doing the hop skip and jump technique gaining extra distance???

Yep me too. But worse is when a player tries to take a throw-in from the wrong place to gain some extra yards. The ref tells him to move back. The player only pretends to move back so the ref tells him once again. The player again pretends to move back but still doesn't really move to the indicated place. So what does the ref do? Easy. He thinks to himself, well I've told him twice and he doesn't want to move back, so why don't we just get on with the game?

But what does the ref do when a player takes it from the correct position but commits a foul throw? Now I know a foul throw is against the rules, but surely it's not worse than a player who's gaining extra yards.

It's meant to be a deterrent to players pretending to be injured to waste time. It's difficult for a ref to distinguish who is and isn't in genuine need of treatment so they have to apply it as a blanket rule.

I can empathise with much of that. Not sure Luton fans - who prefer football played 'the proper way' - would agree, especially after this last season :cool1: http://balls.co.uk/football/gif-tik...-afc-wimbledons-beautiful-route-one-football/

Not me, I agree with you.

That's why I'm happy with the way we play and what we try to do, and I'd rather watch it than watch teams like Wycombe 'managing the game' by feigning injuries and time wasting every 5 minutes to kill a sides momentum.

I don't mind the old "pinch a couple of yards at a throw in " it's not really vital , upsets only the ref and is something I copy at 7 a side, I've tried copying 30 yard screamers , but pinching a yard is a lot easier

to be fair I never seen the Cambridge side really, just his preston and Lincoln sides....just big aimless lumps really.

I think my bigger gripe is on the ultra defence 'nick it' managers which alas we have got............hate teams who just don't even really try to attack, just ruins enjoyment in football.

The term marquee signing

You mean you have signed a top player

Also fans who make a big deal of taking 2000 to an away game when they get 8,000 at home anyway. Talk to me in percentages then you get a much better idea of cock size

Fans who think they are real fans because their team is outside the premiership. Snobbery to fans at the top end makes you look like a dick.
