Well that's similar to buying a shirt and sitting on your sofa isn't it? The physical/emotional/passionate support is as important as the financial aspect.

It's a very confusing argument to be honest. I know what I think but it's hard to put into words.

I know what you're trying to say as well. Although having had to listen to our penultimate game at home to Swindon on the radio this season, desperate for a much-needed victory, I was honestly on the verge of a breakdown for the best part of two hours. If that's not emotion/passion etc, then what is?

FWIW, I find listening on the radio much harder to bear as every time you've got the ball further than the half way line it sounds like you're about to score or concede. Nightmare, especially for important games like that Swindon one.

Yep, listening on the radio is football "spectating" reduced to its worst form, it's a killer. In 13/14 we had so many tight games and had a really tough second half of the season, I almost had several heart seizures!

But it requires no effort to stay at home and listen on the radio, getting off your arse and going to the game is what it's all about.

Sorry Gillingham but; fans who run down half the stand and 50 yards across the front row to let the opposition attacker know they are not happy!

Also can't stand when they interchange eras when giving stats. E.g - He's their top scorer of all time in the premier league, and Swansea haven't won here for sixty years.

So did football exist before the nineties or not?

Actually when I was a kid growing up everything seemed to be measured in " since the war" perhaps we need to keep drawing lines every now and then

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Every team employing the tactic of tapping the ball back to a midfielder from the kick off who then goes on to boot it off the pitch deep into the opposition's half. This isn't fucking rugby union, we're not playing for territory.

Its not as such the same but a tiny gripe I have is that when one club/manager has just one season of success in football suddenly loads of other clubs from top flight to bottom has to seem to adapt the exact same formation-style-approach in a wild hope it works.

suddenly within 2 seasons we have 200 odd clubs across Europe all trying to play this one style....most of them badly until of course some other side wins afew things and the entire set-up changes yet again. We had the ferguson ways then the Mourinho ways then the guardiola ways, etc, etc.

its worst for me with England at national level.....we must play the spain way.....no we must play the German way....probably must play some other way come this time next year.

If they don't, they should/will be doing.

Mine is Greg Dyke. His B Teams idea got laughed out of court and so he shoe-horned them into the JPT.

It's the only bloody crumb we get off the table and he's managed to take half of that back.

When people say a striker is 'scoring for fun' - what other bloody reason would a player have to be scoring goals??

There are a couple of phrases I like in football but my favourite is when they say a striker "tucked it away with aplomb". I've so rarely heard the word "aplomb" used in English generally, it seems ironic that the average moronic football commentator should be the ones to use it most.

One of your fans attacked our goalkeeper a couple of years ago when we won live on Sky. :told:

The little scrote.

The keeper was being a dick, but never a need to run on a pitch from the stands - ever.

The corner flag .. .. its not wide enough .... about twice in 10 years the ball hits it and mayhem follows , I'd like to see a wider one and more panic from over paid namby pamby footballers

Further to this, hate all the "Ultras" knocking about that think the definition is to turn up to big games with a shitty flare, when in fact it means being an absolute fanatic and being at every game.

When you hear that the ball has hit the "BACK of the net" If the net had a back it would be behind the goal i.e. the bit that the supporters behind the goal see from the BACK. It just hits the net, goes though the goal or stops when it hits the front of the net..... sorry rant over

Too me it's not Really a goal unless it hits the net , back or side net is fine as long as it hits it , the inside of the net of course !

You'd enjoy a trip to forest green !!

Luckily I've never done that with Pools but I did go there with Worksop Town in the FA Cup.

Decent day out, nice social club attached to the ground.

Few too many old grannies telling us to behave and stop singing and all.
