He was going to lead them to the title next season.... well Championship title. Minimum expectations would be to get top 4 and now he's admitted himself recently they won't get that so not surprising, rumoured £12m compensation package too is quite hefty.

A team worth hundreds of millions with less points than games played after 16 fixtures. Not harsh, especially considering how Abramovich has dealt with managers in the past who he's deemed having not come up with the goods. If anything Mourinho was given more slack than any other Chelsea manager in the last decade.

I'd be more tempted to find it harsh if the man hadn't reveled in being a disrespectful, loud-mouthed twat for over a decade.

Hire Brendan, Roman. Please.

Hip hip José.

Hiddink to take over as interim.

Probably the right decision but is it worth it? Their season isn't going anywhere regardless of who is appointed.

Personally I would have liked him to stay and given chance to turn it all around given what he's done for the club over the years. Problem he had was 1) A few players just aged overnight and 2) Whoever he lost in the dressing room obviously had a massive influence over things.

Rumours of Hiddink or Ramos until the end of the season won't be nothing more than in the hope of getting them into Europe. Problem I see Chelsea having is who do they realistically go for next season? I can't see Pep wanting to work for Roman. Could Blanc perhaps be tempted from PSG? Will they hit Liverpool to try and snare Klopp? Perhaps Pellegrini if City sack him?

They were never going down and they were never getting top 4, should have given him longer imo.

Steal Poch from Spurs? Might be worth a go if he can be snared.

No surprise. I'd like to know why it didn't happen sooner. It was clear he'd lost the dressing room. His tactics have been tiresome to watch....the same 13 players every week, playing negative football.

I did feel sorry for him on Monday....some players completely let him down. Them same players should never play for the club again.

Important we move on quickly. Hiddink will hopefully come in and steady the sinking ship. After that? Who knows. I'd love Pep but I wouldn't blame him if he had no ambition of working with Roman. We need someone to utilise our superb academy....someone who can get world class players like Hazard playing in the right direction....someone who doesn't play a right back at left back and visa versa.

Another week in the life of Chelsea Football Club.

why on earth would he leave spurs for chelsea at this juncture

Precisely why I said if he could be snared, unlikely, but for Chelsea, it would probably be worth a shot.

Ranieri. :ds:

You have to assume they'll be in for Guardiola along with City and possibly United. It makes the managerial market this summer very interesting - I could see United going after Mourinho after choosing to go for Moyes instead of him a few years ago. I sincerely hope that isn't the case, but at least United would be taken seriously again.

Wrong decision imo, he would have sorted them out sooner or later. If the fans had turned on him then sure, but they seemed to be behind him. However bad this season has been he's still statistically the best PL manager there's been.

It'll be Hiddink for the rest of the season and then they'll get Simeone in. Really interested to see where Mourinho goes from here. He's a manager who only works with elite clubs, but he's running out of elite clubs to manage. United?

Next season we'll have Mourinho at United, Guardiola at City, Simeone at Chelsea, Klopp at Liverpool and yes, Bielsa at Swansea.

Heard it here first.

I really hope he publicly destroys all the players who have let this happen as well.

Apparently the defeat to Bournemouth was when he lost the dressing room.

You're welcome, football.

As soon as Hazard faked an injury on Monday it was obvious he was gonna get sacked.

we've gone from being the best team in the country to the butt of every joke in a matter of months.

feel this is as much abramovich wanting to save some reputation as anything else. season's already a write-off really
