Not sure why links aren't working for you, never had a problem myself with installing addons and they all stay updated except Sportsdevil where you have to download a new zip every few weeks.

I have Sportsdevil, Njm soccer, Pheonix and UK Turk as my four main addons for watching sports and premium Sky channels and always can find what I want on them, use Sportsdevil as the first choice though.

I use Fire TV box and Fire TV stick upstairs, both very simple to install kodi on, I also have it on my phone for watching sport when away from home. Just bought a 4k TV though so need to look into something else soon though if 4k content gets more frequent.

Never buy a stick, they're Kieron Dyer - not relible and are always crashing.

I purchased an X2 box for £20 i think it was, and has always been a gem for me, only time it has failed to deliver was one day i had off work trying to watch a film in the afternoon, it just kept buffering, until i plugged it up via ethernet and boom problem solved, always been relible for me and does a job a box costing £100 would do. The boxes on Ebay around £20 are all basically the same, just called something different, all the same spec and guts etc.

Ive never has a problem with the addons i use - apart from a few fuckin off as the Ebay sellers are killing them, i like to keep mine as trim as possible by only having

SPORT DEVIL
LIVE MIX
PHOENIX
SALTS
123 MOVIES
EXODUS
UK TURK
CASTAWAY
NAVI X
ULTIMATE WHITE CREAM ;)

To put it kindly, I'm technologically challenged and have struggled to understand almost every post in this thread. But a friend of mine had a box connected to his tv that he enabled him to watch any film he wanted as well as access 3pm kick offs. I want one.

How do I make this happen without having to (inevitably) download thousands of viruses? Can I throw money at the problem and just purchase a box ready to go?

Yes you can throw money at it and purchase one ready to go, however after a few months you will probably be back on here complaining that none of the streams work any more and have no idea how to fix them.

Google is your friend its really not that difficult even for the technologically challenged to install kodi and add a few ons to it, as long as you know the name of the add ons you want just google "install addon name on kodi" and you will find lots of step by step guides to it or even youtube videos if you prefer to watch!

for example:

https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-manually-install-sportsdevil-on-xbmc/
http://kodicommunity.com/how-to-install-uk-turk-live-streams-on-kodi/

or you can install entire builds that have lots of add-ons ready to go which is what the pre-installed boxes have on them you have paid extra for such as
https://seo-michael.co.uk/the-beast-build-for-kodi/

Again the same as the pre paid boxes you are getting loads of stuff you don't need and don't learn anything about Kodi in the process so when it breaks your stuck. So I don't recommend them, but each to there own and if you have the money then just buy a box with kodi already on it, but it's such a simple program and lots of guides around that its really not that difficult to do everything yourself.

If you're not interested in learning about app repositories, and the fact that they move/get shut down/need remapping to get updates etc... yeah just buy one mate. If you struggle with some apps later on, we can trey to help, but you will need a device to stream from anyway (unless you want to connect the laptop to the TV... but I hate doing that)

The best way to install builds is with Ares Wizard, which also keeps them up to date. It also has ratings for each build and lists which ones are most popular. Personally, I'm not a fan of Beast.

Fair enough. Although I'm not sure why someone wouldn't like everything they need in one place without the hassle of adding and updating things individually. Every single addon mentioned in this thread is on the build I use, and then some.

Because builds are tailored to the build creator, sure it makes things easier but I want kodi to look how I want it and the add ons I want, not how the creator wants it to look or the add ons they want to add.

Obviously they are build how the creator wanted it, but there are hundreds of them. I'm sure pretty much anyone could find one they like, and it's easy to make changes to aspects they don't like. Each to their own though.

Very true, but again why look through them to find one you like when you can just do it yourself from scratch and make it look how you want off the bat.

I don't disagree with builds other than most of them are bloated with loads of stuff you don't want or need and you don't really learn anything by just straight installing a build but then some people prefer that or need that.

I've been using XBMC/Kodi for around 6 years, and used to do what you're talking about, namely spend time picking out a specific skin and setting up specific addons to create a very bespoke look that I liked. Now I find it simpler to pick a build, install it, and make changes to it as I see fit. I guess it also helps if the hardware can deal with any bloat with no slowdown. I mainly like that, no matter what I want to watch, something within the build will support it.

Guess it depends how much you use it, I mainly only use 3/4 addons so its not difficult to sort or build.

Exodus for films
Filmon for freeview channels
Sportsdevil for sport
UK Turk for sky channels

I have other add ons either installed or the repositories added to quickly install if what I want to watch is not working on the above but its very rare at the moment.

Mimic is the skin I use and I've set it up on so many devices so many times from scratch now that I can literally set up the menus and background pics and install the addons how I want in about 20 mins now.

Not even an option to do that on this skin

What device you using kodi on?

Find the folder where kodi is installed, should be an addons folder and then the skin installed should have a folder, delete that folder and kodi should return to the default skin

If you're on Android, go to Settings -> Applications choose Kodi then select clear data.
If you're on Windows, delete the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata.

Both these will delete all installed addons and reset back to afresh install though.

There will be some means in the current skin to change back to Confluence if you don't want to lose everything. It will be somewhere in the Settings -> Appearance menu.

If you don't want a fresh install just delete

\Appdata\Roaming\kodi\addons\skin.skinname

I have no idea what Ultimate Whitecream is or how it got there, by the way.

Ares is a cracking wizard that will get you what you want, stay away from The Beast & Pulse though, to overloaded with shite that your never use, or addons that are the same as the others etc etc etc....

Personally, go for Spinz Tv Premium Lite, its a lite weight build with addons on there that you will use the most, doesnt come packed with shite and hog up your resourses - with this build your find your Android Box running how it should, without endless crasheslike the resourse hogging huge builds

EASY INSTALL -

It depends on the spec of your box and connection speed. I'm on an Nvidia Shield TV, which is complete overkill for 99% of what you need with a TV box and does everything I've thrown at it without breaking sweat. I've used bloaty builds with no issue at all but have seen other boxes like Amazon Fire devices really struggle with them, simply because they don't have the horse power. But I agree, there is no point installing a build containing 100 addons you'll never use.

For the same reason people buy iPhones, they're the lowest common denominator in the market.
