Bar Spurs, Everton have had a relatively easy fixture list so far, a perfect way for Koeman to start his Everton career and he's gotten the team to take full advantage (the Martinezesque Bournemouth performance aside). I'm curious how things will develop with them once they hit patches of difficult games though. For example United, Arsenal and Liverpool inside 4 games in December.

In short, I think I'll withhold my full judgement on Koeman and Everton until I see what they do against the teams they're not expected to beat.

Think we'll beat Burnley quite easily.

Best team in the league
Koeman has a smaller budget and is at a smaller club. If he breaks into the top 6, then you would have to say it is a good start to his career at Everton.

Does he? Moshiri wouldn't stop banging on about how Everton had £100m to spend before the window opened, on top of any funds gained from Lukaku had they sold him. Surely he wasn't fibbing.

What did they spend? I think they made money during the summer from selling Stones.

Ashley Williams too.

Not a massive amount. My point was either Koeman did have the budget but did a Wenger and decided not to fully utilise it. Or Moshiri was exaggerating about the money being made available to make himself look more appealing to the fans after first buying into the club. My money is on the latter.

Agreed. They are a team where they can't go out and spend big money. Priorities will be keeping players. They remain a selling club. Time will tell with both Merseyside clubs whether they can retain their best players.

Koeman or Klopp who will be King of Merseyside in 2016-17?

Aside from my personal feelings ( I like the Reds way more than Everton and this goes back to the Kevin Keegan Days and when he went to Hamburg to play for HSV), this is a non-question for me:

Jürgen Klopp will be King of Merseyside because ...well he's the better coach, the better man and he's German :D
Ronald Koeman is a "persona non grata" for most German Football fans due to the 1988 Incident at the Euro which the pic of Christian Slater I quoted below, shows. Totally disrespectful gesture after defeating Germany and we won't forget that and I wish him all the worst for all the clubs he tries to manage. Moron!

I used to like you Dirk.

:gr:

Is it because I wrote that I like the Reds more than Liverpool? I've explained why but that doesn't mean that I can't stand Everton (like for example Arsenal or Chelsea). I respect the history of Everton, a founder member of the first professional football league. But I haven't had much to do with Everton unlike Liverpool which I saw often in Germany and even in Liverpool.

Or is it because I loathe this Koeman Guy? If yes then sorry, but I won't change my mind about this guy. This 1988 incident isn't forgotten here and when Koeman and Everton will come to Germany (maybe in the Europa League or even CL League ;)) you will see that there will be some booing against him (not against the team).

What would be your reaction when in a competitive match of England versus a fierce rival after the match (which is lost by your team) the shirts are exchanged and one player of the other team (let's say Scotland as a rival :D ) will do a gesture as if he wipes his ass with the Three Lions shirts?

OK, maybe you will say "I don't give a shit about this and the Three Lions" but you have to understand that for a German our National-team is something like a "sanctum" and such a disrespectful gesture like Koeman's won't be forgotten here.

Hope you like me again now :D
