You'll definitely have more possession, we almost always have less of the ball, but arguably do a lot more with it when we have it. Surprised he didn't mention Kayode's long throws, they've been a bugbear of many an opponent, often becuase they haven't read the rules on foul throws and think we're getting away with murder.

It's not so much that we're direct, because we play so high up from the pitch... we 'play out from the back' if the 'back' begins just goal-side of the centre-circle.

The long throws were mentioned.

Coops reckoned they are a useful weapon but also said Kayode was on the pitch for some of them and hopes that the officials spot it.

I think our approach to throw ins is much better btw, stand there for ages holding the ball waiting for someone to move/show for it (which they don't) before eventually throwing it aimlessly a few yards down the line, sometimes straight out of play but nearly always losing possession. Other variations include short to a team mate who passes it back towards the thrower straight out of play or best of all literally throw it straight to an opponent.

In the Rovers v Carlisle game, didn't notice their keeper kicking long on a regular basis, there was a variety of ways of distribution from the back. The long throw-ins were deployed but weren't that effective on the day.

Unsure how Rovers trip to Horwich will pan out tomorrow. Play as badly as at Exeter and the outcome will be equally dismal. The postponing of the midweek game with Stevenage took away the chance for some experimentation and I'm not expecting major changes from last week's line up. The good news is that it looks like leading scorer James Vaughan should be fit.

you would not have experimented in midweek if you had a game......The bingo balls come out and its the first 11 that come out get selected. Quite looking forward to what Hill has got to say after the game.
Isgrove forced his way into the first team after several good cameo appearances in place of Crawford.
Gives us a better balance.

If anybody wants to look at a unbelievably poor home record check Mansfield stats out!

Today feels like we've gotta get our first home win of the season, or it'll never come!

He hasn't been penalised for a foul throw yet this season.

The rules for crossing the line while taking a throw in are similar to the rules for the ball going out of play. All of his foot must be over all of the line for it to be a foul throw, so most of his body can be on the pitch and it still be a legal throw. Our commentators have been wondering why more players don't do this with their throw-ins.

I mean we've lost two in ten, and we've been poor in the last two games but we got a point away to Grimsby and lost 1-0 to Carlisle away, I suppose you can say 'out of form' if we just look at the last two games, but that's a weird amount to base form on for me!

We are shite at home though, won once all season against Dag & Red in the FA Cup.

Surely a point at Grimsby is nothing to write home about. The first half against us it felt like two good teams going head to head, but the second half you were really poor.

Could do with Barrow finding a result tomorrow against Cheltenham. Then at least if we slip up we’d still be in the top 3.

I would love for that to be the case but I just can't see it unfortunately.

Can see Oldham getting something at Newport today. Oldham are pretty inconsistent and they score as well as concede plenty. Newport have been faltering and Oldham are exactly the sort of team who could make them pay if they aren't on it. Still unbeaten at home of course but they aren't putting in the sort of unbeatable performances at the moment.

It’s definitely not anything to write about at all, we were dreadful in the last two games - like I said.

We’ve only lost twice in 10 but draw for fun, still only two wins in the league, we are pretty poor - but you would have took a point before kick off, because we were ‘in form’ :D

Bring back the diamond in a 4-4-1-1 I say. Our players seem happy with this formation. Otherwise they don’t seem to know what their doing.
Both us and the unmentionables are a bit Jekyll and Hyde, could be a close high scoring game or another mullering.

Come on Keef, get yer salt and pepper out!

Just seen we play you again on the 16th of January (then a ballbreaking run of fixtures against Newport, FGR, Cheltenham and Exeter).

Weve been inconsistant at home really. Away weve been much better, we are set up to hit on the break which is usually fast, we create lots of chances and with a fully fit forward line are pretty lethal. Defensively we make mistakes and will concede.
Improve our home form and add a couple more in Jan and i can see a very good second half of the season. Not rose tinted glasses neither, this team is very good going forward just need to sure up at the back.
Oh and .... " C'mon Tranmere "

I'm not talking about his left foot on the line.

Its his right foot walking onto the pitch which I think makes it a foul throw. In the act of taking the throw he encroaches onto the pitch. He might also be raising his foot of the floor which would be a double foul but its the walk really.

I haven't looked at every throw-in in the highlights but every one that opposition fans or managers have complained about, when I've looked, he has both feet on or behind the line at the moment of release. If he was getting away with foul throws you'd think linesmen would be watching him carefully by now since almost every manager we've faced so far has complained about it.

Oldham Athletic and Man Utd are taking the home and away form to extremes this season.

Mellish looks to have joined Devine and Tanner on the treatment table, hopefully not long term, so Toure comes in for his first start in a while.

Edit: Mellish is suspended

Still without Worrall and Monty which is a blow but sticking with the side that performed so well midweek.

Manny back on the bench is a plus and Amoo got a few minutes Tuesday so easing him back.

Even the quest highlights pundit said it was a foul throw, when in reality it was fine because even if a millimetre of his heel touches the line it’s legit.

First throw and we fail dismally to deal with it, unsurprisingly. Should be 1 down.

Walsall the better team so far. We’ve had a lucky escape from Adebayo hitting the bar. They’re having some joy down our right side again.

Sharp intake of breath there after how Joyce went in on that Walsall player thinking back to that Tranmere game. Be on a tightrope rest of the game now.
