I think it's luck of the draw as to whether they get recalled. Orient have been fortunate but if they're good players that make a difference, they're likely to be recalled in January.
It'll definitely be interesting. I guess our signings will tell us our ambitions for the season.
On our podcast the other day, we had two journalists...one is a respected local paper writer Mike Bagguley and BBC Radio Stoke Vale reporter Phil Bowers. They've both had it from separate sources that we were 5th highest in terms of budget but I'm not sure whether that includes some of the transfer fees, which could have been anything up to 750k. Carlisle with the biggest but they had a ridiculous amount of players.
I would take the season being over by late March sat in 14th in fairness, we've not had one of those for a long time! As I say though Carol and co are quite private about aims/spend, I don't envision Moore being here "just to survive" but the next step to challenge in this division is the hardest and far harder than it was 10-15 years ago certainly.
That is wage budget, they thought we were 4-5th imagine Carlisle (with their huge squad), MK above... maybe Gills? I suppose it would of been higher but had less wiggle room with so many contracted to get more bodies in which will be added to this term. Transfer fees must have been around £750k on top but these days its all undisclosed so you can never tell.
£5 million if you base on a 24 man squad is pretty much £4k a week average which is a fairly good wage for L2 (bear in mind a couple would be on significantly more than that and some somewhat less). Add on probably £750k in transfer fees and its probably not far off assuming we spend around 50% of our £12 million expenditure on player wages/transfer fees.
Pretty much always the case at this level, Wolves years back, Sunderland etc. all big budgets hence why those are usually the ones that go up like Birmingham this season!
