Yes.

The guy is unhinged and needs medicating. How he’s managing a professional football club God only knows. He’s going to cause a huge brawl on the touchline one of these days running his mouth about.
I presume his teams always play fluid attacking football and never go defensive or do the dark arts of the game when ahead?

Might have a point about top teams stockpiling players but its been going on for a while and if he was at the top club probably would do the same.

Against us, everything he complained about others' doing, his side did. And then on top, Rovers had clearly instructed their ball boys to stop getting the ball if it was our possession or actively slow down/break up play by throwing the ball away or into the crowd. A steward by the side of the pitch also threw the ball into the crowd away from one of our players. I don't remember the hypocrite that is Barton stopping this happening, or the Ref doing anything about it and therefore he complained about it to the Official.

He is nothing more than a hypocrite.

What are you talking about, he is spot on with pretty much everything he said there. We got to watch 45mins-hour of football vrs your lot, the rest of the time was watching your players rolling on the floor in agony.

Barton's character flaws are well known, the guy has demons. But a lot of what he says there is spot on - exactly the sort of things more managers at this level should be being outraged about

We did nothing that other teams do against us every week down the Meadow. That’s a fact! About time we stopped being a soft touch and were a bit more ‘streetwise’ with our tactics. Oh and let’s be real here, Barton is HATED and also a massive dick in football. Also a fact.

Same as in our game vs you then because of your team's tactics. All teams' do it to varying degrees and Barton moaning about other teams is fantastic hypocrisy. I expect absolutely no further 'game management' from your team as long as Barton is in charge after those comments as he clearly sees it as important.....

To be fair since the turn of the year he had us playing really good football until the end of last season, and at one stage we'd picked up the most wins out of any team in England during 2022.
It was the best football i've seen us play since the Holloway days when we had Roberts and Cureton.
The ironic thing is that Shrewsbury probably would have beaten us had they not went down and stayed down under every challenge and non-challenge, so they didnt do themselves any favours. It's truly awful to watch though, everyone shithouses including us, but that was next level 'housery by Shrews.

Add us to Cheltenham and Salop competing in the Shithouse Stakes. We've been named and shamed by both Port Vale and Bristol Rovers so far, I think.

I've just heard you and Shrews so far
Accrington did a good shithousery job on us in the second game of the season.

Bristol Rovers seem to have a fanbase made up of Karen’s. Miserable sods!

Rovers themselves accused by Oxford.

Of course last season's Oxford have been accused of it by Ipswich.

Ultimately, every team is guilty of it in some regard. No-one likes it, but no club is holier than thou (except FGR apparently).

Seems like such a strange thing to get upset over - for some people winning is all that matters, and as long as it's within the rules of the game then they don't care how it's achieved (in some cases people are happy for the rules to be broken). If your team is up against it, then it's up to them to combat it - if they can't then it's tough titties.

I remember our naive days during our initial drop through div 3 and early seasons of div 4 when we were aghast at these tin pot tactics and dark arts played against us, whilst we took the morale upper high ground and subsequently lost most weeks.

Don't agree with any of it, but we've learned that at this level it's part of the game. I'd rather we are giving back as good as we get than not. I don't think there's a team in the land that doesn't exploit the gamesmanship side in one way or the other. It's just more obvious at this level, with some teams almost specialising in the dark arts as a fundamental part of their game plan. And then there's Wycombe.

I might have been one of those who did say you were doing a lot of shithousery. Towards Portsmouth it was more intended as sort of a compliment how you did it, my annoyance was with the referee.

We certainly try to do it but we’re not that effective at it. I don’t think Cheltenham did at the weekend to any great level but I think that was a product of both sets of players showing respect for the ref on that day.

I don't think ive seen anyone from our side accuse Portsmouth of anything. The referee was the issue that day

Not upset, its more to do with paying to watch a spectacle and ending up watching players getting drinks breaks whilst the keeper falls over again.

Bugger me --- Your players went down more times than Linda Lovelace did in any of her films. Infact all her films put together.

We were accused of it a couple of times last season but I don’t think we’ve had that accusation so far this season. I think the only game we may have shithoused our way through so far was Oxford away (all the others we’ve been losing heavily or winning deep in the second half).

Sad news at Cheltenham this morning as Matty Blair's retirement due to a knee injury was confirmed.

Absolutely gutted for the bloke who has been fantastic in his couple of seasons with us.

Must be devastating when forced to give up the thing you have devoted most, if not all, of your life to. Hopefully he has good people around him.

Blair always reminds me of our NL days because he was exceptional at York whenever he came up against us. Most of that York side struggled to make the step up but he was one who kicked on again and did well.
