When he is one of very few 'successes' you can imagine how bad it is.

Still, we have an excuse for being one place above the relegation zone.

A lot of jumper wearers seem to be getting the boot ? Dickov, Alexander, Cooper , lets hope the obnoxious Robinson at MK Franchise joins the out of work jumper wearing club.

Why has Swindon's chairman taken temporary charge, anyone? Not something you see happening often...

Why has Swindon's chairman taken temporary charge, anyone? Not something you see happening often...
“I know everyone is saying the Chairman is taking over and probably think what’s going on down here, but I’ve played for twelve years and played in every division there is in England, up in Scotland and managed and assisted, so I know the drill inside out.

“All it is, to be honest, is just to take the heat off the lads a little bit and I want the coaching staff now just to focus on the coaching and I’ll deal with the media and just get the lads up for it while we look for a replacement.

“I’m hoping this won’t be too long a process because the commute from Geneva is quite far.

“I think there is a better view in the Director’s Box so I’ll certainly start up there (for Tuesday’s game against Oldham Athletic), and I’ll speak to the lads before the game and at half-time.

“Between me and Luke (Williams) we’ll pick the team and I’m just there to help Luke and take away any unnecessary stresses and problems.

“I’ll deal with them over the coming day or week until we find someone.

“If I weren’t the Chairman or the Owner and I was Director of Football, no one would say anything, but it is an unusual situation because I am the only ex-player that owns a football club.

“That’s why it looks a little bit upside down.

“We had a good day training yesterday, we trained on the pitch, explained the situation and the lads have got to get back on it.

“No one likes to see someone lose their job, but that’s football and Mark (Cooper) is aware of that.

“It is a results business at the end of the day and these things happen.”

Been told Martin Ling to takeover, (perhaps until the end of the season) at Swindon. Williams turned it down too?!

Would Ling be a good appointment? Don't know too much about him.

I have also been told that it is to be Ling. There's a press conference scheduled for 10am tomorrow so we won't have long to wait anyway.

It's not an appointment that will inspire much confidence and there'll always be worries about his mental health but he's an ex-Town player and is at least a popular person among supporters. The target for whoever does come in has to be 52 points, though, and hopefully this joke of a season can be saved.

Really hope it works out for Martin. Obviously so much has been said about his time with us, and the people in charge behind the scenes really shafted him. In 2012 he was in a position to get us into this division, but the board failed to back him financially and our small squad burnt out in the final five games. It would have been a ridiculous season if we had managed it, considering the squad we had (players like Taiwo Atieno and Chris McPhee for crying out loud!). So yeah, he did excellently in his first full season - the football was not consistently good but he made us very effective at keeping clean sheets. Think we kept over 20 in that season. Manage that and you always give yourself a good chance of winning matches.

I wouldn't predict wonderful, fast-flowing football, but I would say to expect solid, committed performances with a focus on ensuring the opponents don't score goals. With us it took a bit of time to find a formation that really worked, as well as allowing the best players to perform highest. Give him a bit of time to do that and you'll be flying, I think.

Lingy will be best remembered for his 5 years here, which he did a good solid job overall.

As said above, he will concentrate on making you hard to beat, you will grind out alot of 1-0's and 2-1's, we didn't win by big margins usually.

We played a mixture of passing and direct long passing under him.

After we got promoted in 2006, it looked like we'd drop straight back down but with a few additions we was able to finish 5th bottom, the next season he even got us to the summit of League One until about December. Sadly, he took us as far as he could by 2009 and it was the correct call to part ways with him.

Very highly though of at The O's and has been back quite a few times since - He doesn't buy his own drinks when he is down here!!

I wish him well if he gets the job.

2 and a half year contract.

Good fit for our present set up. Whether that set up is going to do it, though, is another question.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Hahaha.

Haha.

Very sketchy looking times ahead, Swindon. Power is crooked and Ling is an odious turd, with the tactical insight of a mouldy bread roll.

I only wish I could find the photo of him in his disco trousers, it's the best thing on the internet. Otherwise, good luck. I hope his CV is big enough for Swindon, and that he doesn't think you're a sh**hole.

I should point out the last two things are things he said about us whilst employed here. Don't think there's any malice in my words, more genuine concern.

Lee Power channelled money out of our club and left us with several, noose like, contracts which were either completely fudged or at "highly preferential rates" to his own companies, whilst conveniently spending money that wasn't actually there. It took us years, and nearly everything we had to recover.

Ling is probably the single most disliked manager we've had. The football ranged from poor to abysmal, whilst the investments to his side went from "alright to substantial" and he just dragged us further and further down. The excuses ranged from the sublime to this ridiculous, but it took us two seasons of playing pretty much nothing but youth players for two seasons to clean up his mess.

I don't have anything against him, just some of his actions. In fact, I'd go as far to say that since he left us, I do quite admire how he has spoken out about mental illness. However, he was a dreadful, and disrespectful manager, and him with Power overseeing it? Ho hum.

As for us, we're fine chap, just relieved he won't end up back here.

Ling is a likeable bloke who managed to better our league position each season he was at the club, gaining automatic promotion at the same time.

Pretty sure he knows what he's getting into at Swindon. He was a player there and they hold him in high regard, same with Leyton Orient.

Hope he does well at Swindon, good luck to him.

Power is a crook in my opinion. Harry Agombar played once for them and he isn't a pro footballer. Power and Harry's dad do 'business' - both are crooks. Tommy Agombar is Harry's father. Harry's 'career' has been a joke already, no surprises there.

Harry made one appearance (at the end of last season I believe) and it was due to Power's relations.

But that's only minor detail :shut:

But back on the case, hopefully Ling won't suffer the way Cooper did and can get on and be a football manager. Good luck to him.

He's a handsome fella. Shame I can't find the one of him holding the handle bars whilst the tranny is having a ride.
