Mowbray also said we might need sell people for funds, jesus. 13 out and 3 (4) in and we still need to sell in order to bring players in. Wasn't exactly an encouraging press conference that.
It came across more of getting rid of people not crucial to sign new people. Not exactly selling off all our assets.

I don't feel as if we have many players we can just get rid of at the moment, the squad is threadbare as it is.

Mowbray's said a lot of things this summer.

Don't worry JJ, Mowbray is going to play a part in winning me a small fortune by the end of this season

Stephen Humphrys. 18 year old midfielder/striker who they signed from Bury.

I'd be disappointed if you lot signed him. I've never seen him play but he's supposed to be very talented.

In theory a good signing, but bar one game at Southend he was bang average for us last season during his loan spell and given the way he was bombed out of Priestfield in his first spell and the fact that he wanted to make the Welsh Euro squad, he had something to prove and failed.

Played Benfica at St Georges today and the chairman has tweeted he enjoyed it and did some business there... Maybe a loanee?

Che Adams supposedly signing for Newcastle for 3.5mill + sell-on clause. We've done well if that's true imo.

Yeah, underwhelmed in all honesty.

A 32 year old with a history of injury doesn't exactly thrill me but for no fee and a one year contract, it's relatively risk free so will just see how it turns out.

So Pope to replace Armstrong... Guy is a Vale legend and deserves to be remembered alongside the likes of Foyle, Aspin, Earle, Sproson etc but talk of him coming back has torn the fan base as he seemed to lose it two years ago, started suffering a lot of injuries and we were right to let him seek big money at Bury... I'd have him back but on a smaller wage as an option when we play teams like Bradford that requires that aerial power. Would be a very odd signing for Coventry to make if they have any serious aspirations of promotion.

the rumour has no basis really and probably won't happen. Doesn't seem like a Mowbray signing tbh.

Chairman's been out in the sun all day and is having a mad one -

Splashing out on another signing

Linking up with Benfica as an affliate for player loans and pre-season friendlies thanks to Ribeiro

If he's been out in the sun, that probably means he has been drinking. There will be all sorts turning up to Vale Park on Monday morning that the chairman can't remember signing

Still better business than Swindon have managed so far this summer :ds:

Ok I'll bite. We've signed a decent keeper and last season's non-league's top player in Goddard who I think might be very good this season. As well as Conor Thomas from Coventry, they were all gutted he left so happy to see him join us.

We need more players, sure, but last season we signed Ajose in September and he ended up being the leading scorer and sold at a profit so I'm not going to be going to the potting shed to reach for the revolver just yet.
